• They need to fix the matchmaking before they punish for anything. Simple we should be matched with people close to our skill level and groups should only be matched with groups. They will only make things worse. They don't play so they don't understand.

      • Bungie tried punishing Marty O'Donnell for leaving and they got their asses handed to them.....so yeah, you are probably right.

      • Unfortunately with no gear to grind for there is no incentive to do anything include staying in a match.

Give players an XP buff for sticking around. A significant one mind you. Make it linger for however long a match usually lasts so it can't be abused and let players take it wherever. It is immediately lost if you quit matches not matchmaking and refreshes when matches complete. Have it stack with others with it, I mean all players not just friends. Not at all likely to happen because me monies. Also honestly speaking nothing is really going to stop people from quitting when your game is aggressively not fun. It's how Destiny PvP has always been.

      • No one should be allowed to leave unless they’re killed by 450 Autorifle or the Colony or Sins of the Past. (Tongue in cheek)

        • I think your theory is sound. I like to think that positive reinforcement works better than negative reinforcement. But what reward exactly could Bungie give that would keep me in a game where 2 other people have already left? Or, for some people, when the game starts off bad, and they'd rather go back to matchmaking?

        • A mechanic I always liked and I think is applicable here is: Chain-bonuses. The more matches you complete in a row the better your rewards. Works best with unique rewards though. If, for example, chaining crucible matches was the best method to collect masterwork cores.

          • I'd like to see people that are THROWN IN to a match in progress NOT get screwed. You join and a few seconds later you get supered, and then right after you spawn you get supered again, and then AGAIN. $#%*! That would be fine if you'd had the chance to use your own super in retaliation - but you can't because your super bar was ZERO when you joined and the match will end before you get yours. Anyone joining a match in progress ought to join WITH a certain amount of super energy, proportional to the elapsed time of the match maybe minus 5-10%, capped at like 95%? That would be fair. The way it is now, if I'm put into a match in progress that's too near the end and I'm expecting the above scenario to happen, I just immediately leave again. But all that does is leave one side short still and perpetuates the cycle. Giving late joiners a FAIR amount of super energy rather than severely penalizing them is such as obvious thing I don't see why Bungie hasn't implemented it yet. Ah yeah, it's because they're clueless and they don't really care. The proof of that is. . . Destiny 2.

I only leave Crucible matches if I see I'm going against a fireteam and I'm just with randoms.

            • Nah, punishing quitters is the right thing to do but it should only apply to the first person who quits in an even game (2v2, 3v3, 4v4) because they are the ones who most contribute to a pvp match beng unfair, they are also the primary cause of the domino effect of people quitting and when a terrible game is geared heavily towards teamshooting that 1 extra person can make a massive difference. It would be quite unfair if I or anyone else like me got punished for quitting a game because it's 2v4 or 1v4 and that's the only time I'll quit the game. So should I also be punished because my whole team bailed on me? The biggest thing is going to be the application of this rule and Bungies Fked everything else up so it'll be funny to see what this punishment is, stopping quitters from playing crucible for so many minutes isn't really the best punishment because those people who quit so their wee KD doesn't get hurt will still quit because their KD will still be unharmed. My Idea to tackle this properly would, whom ever quits to make the game unbalanced recieves a penalty of minus 0.10 to thier KD,KDA and KAD solely because the punishment for leaving should be worse than what it is for staying in an unbalanced game. So that should be the choice, stay and maybe drop a meager 0.01 or quit and drop 0.10.

              • Punishing leaving is one of the most idiotic things they could do to the Crucible. Punish the small test tube sample of people you have left playing your paper bag of dog shit game for spending time the way they want to in your game world? Genius. Crucible is shit. Teamshot meta, ridiculous lag, stale gameplay, piss-poor matchmaking , etc. I don't leave matches ever, but I don't blame people who do when they have to go in against a 4-stack and bullets aren't registering. Maybe take some of the $$$ you guys saved on literally giving no content in Curse of Osiris and get yourself some dedicated servers and hire someone who knows how to write matchmaking algorithms that don't get the players' balls in a twist.

                          • Just a suggestion: At each reset Shaxx hands you 10 Abandon-Tokens. Leaving a match consumes such a token. At the end of each week upon the next reset, every Abandon-token you did not consume is transformed into a masterwork core and is placed into your inventory.

                            • With what? Even if you lose minus what 3 tokens you can get the same stuff the winning team gets. I think I have backed out of 3 to 4 matches to date, RL crap or honestly I spawned in and decided naw don't need the sodium right now. But there have been plenty where it's either me or one other person that stayed, should we get more rewards for staying around to get our butts kicked. Also do you think Bungie will impose severe penalties if you back out of a match here or there? Do you think they want to add a cooldown timer on someone if they left a match. I honestly can't blame someone if they leave if they are on a team of Randoms and they are matched with a team of 4. Happens to me all the time, I just trudge along and work on my Call to Arms or whatever I am doing. If like I said I am the only one left or there is one more person I go into stealth mode and play hide and seek. I can see them doing something if a person is leaving 50% or more of their matches. But rewarding people beyond what we get now just for staying and playing the game makes no sense. Trials yea I can see if a team backs out of a match slap a 10 minute timer on them.

                            • They do: with the XP gained from kills (defeats) and from finishing the match. Plus the chance at both legendary and exotic engrams, as well as a pile of glimmer and weapon materials (rare gear)

                            • Additional: imo, quitting penalties should primarily (or only?) be in Competitive modes. Quickplay will refill slots (most times...), but in Competitive if someone bails the team is left with the empty slot and a near guaranteed loss.
