Should Destiny 2 become Free to Play in Year 2?
Hey Community!
This thought just randomly crossed my mind today and I'd like to see how you feel about this if it were to happen.
This probably won't happen AT ALL, but if it did how do you feel it would affect the game and the development of it going forward?

2 RepliesNo. There's no free lunch. You think a F2P game is free, then you realise you're getting nickel-and-dimed for every convenience that would come with a base, paid up-front game. It's this $10 special horse you have to buy if you don't want to have to leg it over the needlessly vast distances between points of interests. It's inventory space that quickly fills-up with all the pointless crap that seem to exist only to drive you to buy a $30 bag. It's all the best-looking armor and clothes they push on you, constantly reminding you how much you just look like a hobo with a shotgun. It's the artificially lengthened grinds to progress, unless you buy many short duration XP boosters. It's that prompt for a limited-time offer to buy a resurrection after you get killed at the end of a raid. Quick, splurge $5 now if you don't want to start over. It's the countless manipulations that entire teams of unethical behavioural specialists regularly come up with in order to mind-fvck the weak-willed into spending way more on these F2P games than they would have for an honest, $100 all-included game. You may be smart enough to not fall for these traps, but you'll be annoyed, inconvenienced and hampered all the same by their schemes. F2P games aren't free. And they are a consistently obnoxious game-play experience. You think Eververse is bad now? Wait till you get a load of free-to-play Destiny. No thanks.

1 ReplyIf there is a D3 and obviously do much better, D2 might become a sub-game that "given away" with D3 release. So far there is contract with Acti and the upcoming release of 2nd DLC, which some pre-ordered players (like me ) have paid, it is very less likely to switch it to free.

No. Now i could see D1 becoming free to play with the right set up for money to come in.

3 RepliesIt's already a paid game. You can't go back once it's already been released. D3 is a different story though. But knowing bungie it'll be a paid game with free to play systems like in d2. In other words more Microtransactions either way.

Bungie can't do a decent job while charging for it, so just imagine how the game would be if it was free to play.

My version of free to play is: I don't pay for any DLC or expansions for Destiny 2. Sorry Bungie but it's the only way to get my money for D3.
