Goddammit. They should be prioritizing mental help and awareness instead of concentrating on -blam!-ing guns. Guns do not kill people. They are inanimate objects until they are acted upon by an outside force. Wikipedia tell me that roughly thirty seven thousand (37,000) people died in vehicular accidents in 2016 in America. Who the -blam!- out there is calling for car controls?

  • Well, yeah. Being that in America cars cause three times as many deaths as firearms I would compare the two. A three ton car is just as dangerous if not more so that a four gram bullet. Aside from that as much as I think the Oompa Loompa is a terrible person, he’s probably the shakeup American politics needed. He’s about as smooth as 40 grit sandpaper with foreign relations, but too many jobs have been farmed out outside of North America to call centres in Asia or factories in South America or Africa where people are treated like farm animals rather than actual people. But that’s just my take on it.

  • Could you imagine that? Having to get a license to drive a car?

  • Does not having a license prevent people from driving a vehicle? Oh nos! I don’t have a license therefore I can’t drive a car! It completely prevents me from stepping in, turning the key, and putting it into gear. You just can’t if you don’t have a license!

  • You must be under 16, otherwise you would have been to a place called the DMV.

  • Where I’m at it’s called a registries. And any dipshit can get a license if they can manage to parallel park. Hell, some even get a license if they can’t and are set loose on the roads.

They already do have car controls. The controls are the DMV, driving classes, a driver's license* (permit if under 18, and must be accompanied by an adult with a driver's license while driving), and car insurance. People who break the law with driving either get their driver's license revoked, or must attend mandatory classes, and may have to take the driving test (written and actual) again. *Provisional licenses also fall into this category.

  • Driving = privilege 2A = rights There is a distinct difference.

  • So because there are car controls in place it is not possible to get into a vehicle and drive it into a school/ building/ crowd and kill people with it? C’mon. Guns are already regulated at many levels of government same as cars. What’s not regulated is mental health. Sure, there are criminal record checks and waiting periods to get a gun, but there are very few places to go to, or people that actually care about other people, before dumb shit like Florida goes down.

  • It would be hard-pressed for a student to drive a car through a door that is designed to usually have 2 students walk through it at the same time. Also, if a student manages to drive their car into the school grounds without any of the adults or security noticing the student, and goes on a vehicular manslaughter spree in the process, those adults and security liaisons are absolutely shitty at their jobs and should honestly be fired right on the spot for being absolutely incompetent.

  • So what does your point have to do with actually addressing the problem, which is not guns, but people’s mental health?

  • I already mentioned it in my own post. I'm specifically pointing out one this specific thing in your post:
Who the -blam!- out there is calling for car controls?
No one is calling for "car control" because it's already a thing, and there's already strict prerequisites to drive a vehicle. A Class C is the lowest one, which is pretty much anything not related to commercial vehicles or motorcycles, and is already pretty strict on what requirements need to be satisfied.
