The flashbang type grenades need to be better.

This is kind of a rant so be ready. Tl;Dr below So as a little short story to begin, I would like to say that ever since I started a Titan in destiny 1, my favorite grenades by far were the incindieary, flashbang, and suppression grenades. The reason I enjoyed the grenades so much was because they kind of felt like Halo's frag grenades to a degree, and I really liked that about them. Their main appeal was their potential for mayhem, with debuffs and high damage to boot, but there was always something missing or something that just felt...underwhelming. It wasn't necessarily the damage, but sometimes it didn't feel like I was rewarded for the effort it took to use that grenade skillfully. When I had a properly placed incindieary it would kill people in one go (assuming they didn't have that damn burn artifact) and those were the times that for at least the incindieary, that it didn't feel bad. But something I've noticed a lot more in destiny 2 over destiny 1 is the gigantic flaw with the grenades that have persisted from the first game...they aren't really worth using. I'm sure there are a lot of people like myself who use these grenades and disagree, but my problem isn't so much the difficulty curve...but rather there's no extra benefit for really being good with them, especially since so many grenades in this game put out almost identical damage with FAR LESS effort required, such as the bolt grenades or the DoT grenades. Those grenades comparatively throw the bouncing grenades into the garbage even if you manage to land a perfect one just because of the sheer amount of difficulty that it takes to use them. The debuff or status effect more often than not fails to make up for the skill and accuracy it takes to use them, unless your intention was to blind them for a quarter of a second after dealing 20 damage, or burning them for 6 ticks for damage numbers that randomly vary from 5 to 7 and that lack of consistency along with the difficulty curve really makes it tough for PvP and even pve. Basically what I'm asking for is a buff to consistency, one that these grenades truly struggle with and if they ever decided to buff them, it would be for the improvement of these particular grenades. My proposed fix for these grenades is that they give these grenades a minimum damage that can still make it worth the effort you put into using it. So for these grenades, since they currently can do between 20 and 120 damage (relatively for the minimum) I would suggest making the minimum amount of damage done possible to be 50 damage, with the maximum being increased to 150, that way these grenades provide a much more comfortable safety cushion to a not so perfect grenade, but rewards you much more for that greatly thrown grenade. Meaning that the grenade will either hit for the minimum of 50 damage, or none at all, that way the grenade doesn't feel like such crap if the grenade wasn't perfect. Another thing I would like them to do is remove the inconsistency with blind duration and burn damage. I know that these two effects were created that way to keep the power of these two grenades from getting out of line, but that's the purpose for these grenades, and they do them rather poorly. Burn damage should ALWAYS be 7 damage per tick like it used to be, and as for flash bangs, the effectiveness of the blinding should be scaled up across the explosion to provide the grenade with a much greater utility in PvP. An example would be that the duration and effectiveness of the grenade comes in three levels: Low grade, medium grade, and high grade. Low grade being a small flash, some crappy damage, and removal of radar. Medium grade being a complete blinding but only for about a second with about 50-70 damage being delt. High grade being that greatly thrown grenade that deals between 80-120 damage and completely blinds the enemy for 2-3.5 seconds. In a shooter those seconds are precious and having flashbang really work like it should would bring a much greater usage out of them unlike never before (ever before?) Because the grenades as a whole are some of the most underused grenades across the two games, with voidwall and scatter being at the bottom for various reasons. And only now in destiny 2 are stickies truly bad. So what I want them to do is COMPLETY remove the low grade blinding effect so that the grenade always blinds for 1-3 seconds depending on how it hits. Suppression grenades don't suffer from this because it's status effect is just a general aoe. Tl:Dr Buff consistency. Minimum damage possible 50. Maximum damage possible 150 Flashbang ALWAYS fully blinds but the duration relates to where it hits the target. Incindieary ALWAYS burns for 7 damage a tick. Thank you to anybody reading my wall of text and I hope you guys give me some feedback on whether or not you agree.

  • I only use the suppressor, flashbang and incendiary grenades ever in all situations. Suppressor grenade is by far my favorite in pve its not only a PvP grenade.

    • I think the aoe needs to be a little bigger for the blinding effect and that effect should last a little longer too.

      • Unfortunately, all grenades pale in comparison to their old counterparts. However, I will agree that flashbangs need more consistency. Or at the very least some manner of visual notification (over head marker) showing how affected the enemy is-- in PvP most notably. Those moments where you think you got them good and pop out of cover to realize everyone can see just fine... fun... That said, I became addicted to them on my second remake of my Titan. More than a few times a saved my buddy from being curbstomped by Minotaurs, or stunned enemies around his ghost long enough to rez. Plus, using them more I blind myself slightly less often :)

        • You’ve thought about this more than any bungie employee! Have to say I agree ... even though whenever I use the damn thing I usually blind myself more than the target!!
