Our gun laws are a classic example of doing the same things over and over again, and expecting a different outcome.
We need sane gun laws.
...and we need to do something about our mental health system.
Because these mass shootings...and the accelerating frequency with which they are happening....is showing us that BOTH of these systems are terminally broken.

I don't think it's a stretch to say our gun laws have gotten stricter over they years so I don't know about the whole "doing the same things over and over again" part. I'd also be interested in what you define as "sane" gun laws. Guns have been easier to obtain in the past than they are today and yet we are still seeing an increase in mass shootings which makes me think we need to look at other things than just gun control. Reading different articles about this topic I learned that the US isn't in even in the top 10 of frequency or deaths per capita with regards to mass public shootings, which was pretty surprising to me. Same article, which linked to it's sources and wasn't just claiming the data was theirs, talked about a majority of police being in favor of the removal of gun-free zones and the arming of administration at schools. I do agree that something needs to be done about our mental health system and I believe something needs to be done about how reported threats are handled. It seems clear from everything that's been released, everyone at the school knew this guy was going to try and kill people there. I've seen that they reported this to the police and FBI, but somehow this piece of garbage was still able to get a gun legally. There needs to be a serious investigation into what can be changed in the reporting system to potentially limit something like this from happening.

Cherry-picking.... Which is why its almost impossible to have a rational discussion about this issue. People retreat to their tribal corner and start throwing their favorite talking points...and trotting out their favorite straw man arguments.

Yes. ...and if we keep doing what we are doing, this situation will just keep getting worse. No other modern society has this problem.
