why do people say this is a pve game? So do you guys actually think a company that previously revolutionized fps multiplayer console gaming would just abandon the concept on there next IP?How dead would destiny 1 have been without pvp? Bungie states its too hard to make content so how far would it have gone without twitch and popular pvp players.I cant imagine how boring d1 would have been during those long content droughts.I understand that some dont touch pvp and are perfectly content shooting dregs and enlarged nights for 8 hours but destiny is and was always intended to be a pve pvp hybrid product. Remember the talk of faction wars during d1 vidoc? Surely they werent talking about faction wars against the darkness lol.

Edited by zNapSack: 2/13/2018 4:34:54 AM
destiny is and was always intended to be a pve pvp hybrid product.
Yes, many games include both activities. Some are primarily PvE oriented and some are primarily focused on PvP. Others are strictly one or the other. For example, The Mass Effect games were primarily PvE centric, although they had/have a PvP mode as well. Whereas Call of Duty is predominantly a PvP game, although it has a campaign. However, I see the campaign as being essentially a glorified tutorial as few people buy CoD for its campaign. Some games were/are essentially PvP only. For example Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tournament and the Counter-Strike series, etc. Destiny 1 was clearly marketed as a PvE oriented game having a ten year story arc prior to its release and there was little mention of PvP. That said, many primarily PvE centric games also include a PvP mode as well since there are those who like that game type, although perhaps not exclusively. In Destiny there is not only the story campaign, but also strikes, raid/s and in D2 Adventures, Lost Sectors and The Forge, etc. There is more PvE content than PvP content. However, the quality of either is another matter entirely and is largely subjective.

Agreed to an extent, however i strongly disagree not only listening to the developers vid ocs clearly mentioning faction wars and the fact that bungie had just come from creating one of the best fps multiplayer pvp console games of all time if not the best to date. Why abandon the concept to create a PVE only product. Can anyone imagine how dull Destiny would have turned out without PVP with bungies content producing speed?
-
I never said "PvE only" in reference to Destiny. I said 'PvE oriented', meaning it was and is the primary focus of the game, not the only one.
-
not disagreeing with you, but I'm one of the weirdos that used to buy CoD for the campaign. played every CoD on PS3. didn't play online until Black Ops. :OP

revolutionized fps multiplayer console gaming rofl
-
Uuggh yeah. Do you remember any other console fps title that included multiplayer to halos extent at the time? I dont either lol. Apologies if you were still hugging your ps2 while some of us wanted to expand and see what Xbox had to offer...you missed out on a great experience.
revolutionized fps multiplayer console gaming rofl
No, bud. He is 100% right.

agreed, and I've never owned an XB.

Its just a boring stupid grind with little reward. Does not matter PvE or PvP it sucks balls. -blam!- TOKENS AND -blam!- BUNGIE
-
Agreed. Destiny 2 is mediocre period.
-
I don’t mind pvp, but trying to make it the core focus of D2 has created this very balanced, underpowered, and dull gameplay. D1 was fun because we were literal god killers and were able to go slay other guardians with our extremely powerful acquired god killing abilities in a training environment. That doesn’t go hand in hand with e-sport/ balanced pvp intentions. D1 was clearly a pve focused game that also featured pvp. If you want to know how a mmorpg shooter pve game with ridiculously overpowered weapons and abilities that doesn’t really have pvp can remain fun for a long period of time, I need only cite the borderlands franchise.

Agreed. Trying to appeal to esports was an attempt at greed not fun. Ironically that was also a massive fail.

Edited by Britta Undead: 2/12/2018 4:08:46 PMHow dead is d2 with pvp? Theres a difference between unbalanced pvp, outside of competitive game modes, and no pvp at all. Literally all the questions you asked can be reversed for d2. Hardly anyone streams it, hardly anyone plays it.
-
No one plays pvp because of the ridiculous unwarranted changes that were made to core systems of destiny including but not limited to redundant loadout system, halo like ttk, 4v4 only, 2 gamemodes only etc.Do you honestly think if destiny 2 pvp were the same of at least near the same as d1 no one will play? looooooool it would be the only thing saving destiny as a whoel just like destiny 1. Its hilarious how people still think destiny was supposed to be a pve type game only in 2018. Content is too hard for them to create remember?
So do you guys actually think a company that previously revolutionized fps multiplayer console gaming would just abandon the concept on there next IP?
Only the name 'Bungie' is synonymous with revolutionising FPS multiplayer console gaming. This rabble, are barely capable of doing mediocre participation multiplayer.

Agreed.
