To all the haterz

To all haters of D2 You say D2 is oversimplified as if it's a bad thing. Some people want that. The negatives in D2 are there, as they are in most games these days. You know, these days of a masterpiece being the only kind of AAA title that isn't harshly criticized. You have to try and appreciate what D2 devs are doing. They are being BOTH proactive and reactive with their patches and changes. In a game of this scope, style and substance, you aren't giving it the proper credit it deserves because your minority segment of the population is dissatisfied. The population is billions. Hard core video gamers are in the thousands. Do the math. It is still an amazing experience, even if you run out of things to do. So, if you don't like what Destiny has become, go play Monster Hunter, and quit your short sighted bitching and moaning. It's not going to change in the ways you want. D1 is not coming back.

  • Bungie has not shown 1 tiny microscopic inkling of being proactive with this game

Oh boy! Can I break your post down line by line? It will bring me much joy!
You say D2 is oversimplified as if it's a bad thing. Some people want that.
All right! A generalization followed up by a subjective claim without any evidence! Wow, we are off to an excellent start with this one, folks!
The negatives in D2 are there, as they are in most games these days. You know, these days of a masterpiece being the only kind of AAA title that isn't harshly criticized.
LOL - Then I guess we have not seen a "masterpiece" in some time! But in all honesty, not living up to your previous game is the problem here, not some vague argument that "nothing is perfect, so stop complaining" premise. Because that just makes no sense at all.
You have to try and appreciate what D2 devs are doing. They are being BOTH proactive and reactive with their patches and changes.
Yup! I did try. Sadly, their "proactive" attempts were designed around making their jobs easier, not taking risks and implementing changes intent on game improvement overall. Their "reactive" changes have been, for the most part, horrid attempts at calming a dissatisfied consumer base. Either way you look at it, neither approach is at all noble in either intent or execution.
In a game of this scope, style and substance, you aren't giving it the proper credit it deserves because your minority segment of the population is dissatisfied.
Well, if we were talking about D1 Year 3, I would agree with you. But considering Bungie reduced the scope of their game for easier management, I would say your argument is flawed from the start there. Also, your "minority segment" appears to be greater than you anticipate consider the daily numbers...
The population is billions. Hard core video gamers are in the thousands.
Gamers in general are what Bungie is going for here, not just the "hard core" crowd. And they failed to capture the majority in either category. Also, if "hard core gamers" were in the thousands, this market would not exist.
Do the math.
I did. You are wrong.
It is still an amazing experience, even if you run out of things to do. So, if you don't like what Destiny has become, go play Monster Hunter, and quit your short sighted bitching and moaning. It's not going to change in the ways you want.
Well, then we will probably never see a D3 as Activision won't gamble on a third installment with current numbers and consumer satisfaction where it currently is at. And Bungie will either be bought and cannibalized by Activision, or left wondering out in the cold hoping another big Triple A publisher opens their doors to them for their next "big" "epic" game "idea". Because, and I am not certain you know this, but: game development costs money. No one interested in buying a game = no money from publisher to develop = no game.
D1 is not coming back.
Well, to be fair it is not gone - I still have it on my console and can play it anytime I want, so...

The Souls Borne series, Amazing. GTA Series, Amazing . Red Dead Series, Amazing. Fallout Series, Amazing. Gran Turismo and Forza (If racing games are your thing), Amazing. Resistance Series, Amazing (Better than Halo...). HZD, Amazing. AC Origins, too much content. Seriously. Destiny, it WAS fun to play. Destiny 2 is a shit game made by incompetent devs.

    • This isn't complicated folks. If people don't like parts of Destiny, it'll likely get fixed, in a way, eventually. What are you expecting...a complete overhaul of a 5-6 month old game? Do you want to just piss on the game to piss on the game? What is your end game here? The developers have shown an ability to take good ideas, and where possible, implement them. No need to be angry. Go play Monster Hunter!

you are mistaken, its not simplified its restrictive and utterly lacking content. this is why i say restrictive D2 has no selectable playlists for strikes and crucible no selectable game modes either( control, clash etc) 2 raids, 5 crucible and 5 strike maps and public events. D1 had a raid and 2-3 strikes per planet plus public events, archon forge, court of oryx, PoE. I been playing since D1 closed beta so my criticsm isnt fueld by hate but by disappointment and a feeling of betrayal

        • Can I get in line for the next bumhole cleaning? Seems like you are doing a top notch job on bungies! As a d1 fan I subjectively say d2 is a steaming sack of crap that only the simple minded and easily impressed can enjoy. Scenery and music are great.... I just don’t find the desire to keep playing and neither do my friends who played countless hours of d1.

        • If the feel of D1 don't come back. *d1 loadout is a must* All the content they are working on right now, along with D3 *terrible idea at this point*. The sells on the game will be so low. It will be another laughing stock bungie can add to the checklist of -blam!-ups they achieved in the past year. D2 had something like 8 million sales. Out of those 8 million. 3 to 4 are d1 buyers that left early on, or stuck with the franchise. D2 is a bigger disappointment than D1. I don't think they are going to fool more people to buy their products anymore. The D1 casuals, D2 casuals gave up on this game and franchise long ago. The majority of the hardcore D1 player base left. I'm actually shocked that some stuck around for D2. But these people, some streamers, went from having thousands of viewers a day/week to getting 30 if they are lucky now days. With 8 million disappointed customers. Who's bungie going to target for the next release? They have to turn this game around for their benefit or they are -blam!-ed.

        • You lost me at "You say D2 is oversimplified as if it's a bad thing. Some people want that." I don't recall casuals nor hardcore players asking for a beta at $60+. Many of the significant problems stem from not separating PvE and PvP gear balances. Bungie's assumption (or in the case of Jon W. "we feel") that players want the same playing field/experiences across both PvE and PvP is one of several critical elements destroying D2.

          • STFU, we all paid for something built on lies and can say what we want. If everyone loved how D2 was going they wouldn't be changing anything and everese would still be at the front. They HAVE to change because unfortunately for them they're in a for profit business and also under a publisher that don't wanna hear their BS.

                  • If you seriously think hard core gamers are in the thousands then you have no idea. The major issue with D2 isn't that hardcore gamers don't have things to strive for or do. It's that D2 has nothing for hardcore and gamers to do. There is 0 incentive to log in every day and play the game. Luke Smith in his infinite wisdom much like the infinite forest tried to make this game to cater to the casual gamer. Someone that very rarely plays games, while ignoring a much larger subset of gamers which are the gamers and hardcore gamers. If you want to sell lots of copies of a game and have people spend money on it for dlc's, expansions and even microtransactions then you have to cater to gamers and hardcore gamers. As those people will play the game much more often than the casual base. This game has 0 scope, 1 style(only good thing is the artwork that's it), and 0 substance. Instead of building off what D1 did and laid down as the foundation for the sequel they scrapped all of that and made D2 a game that somehow was way worse than D1 ever was at launch.
