Do you believe a bad person can become good, motivated becomes lazy, or coward become brave? Can they change or are they always the same person?
My opinion
I believe it is very rare for someone to legitimately change themselves. criminals released from prison often go back to lives of crime. People can make a few different decisions, but odds are they remain the same.
I think it really depends. For example psychopaths cannot rewire their own brains to start to empathize but they can change their behavior. If we ignore the physical aspect and focus on the "software" I believe people can change and do in fact change. Look at Megan Phelps Roper for example. Her transformation is huge considering what she started as in the Westboro Baptist church. If a prisoner is released back into a system that doesn't want them to change they probably wont change unless they themselves want it.
