Its human nature to get frustrated or to lose your cool. We don't see eye to eye all the time, but our interactions have always been respectful, and mostly positive. IMO, with this game in particular, it's not set up to have a good community. The design of the game kind of pits players against themselves. Because of lack of separation of the competitive PVP from the rest of the game, its really the PVP population vs. PVE. Without optional matchmaking and other features to help facilitate participation in high-difficulty endgame content, its really those who have established groups vs. those who don't. And it constantly feels like it is us vs. them when it comes to the players/community vs. the developers of this game. All-around, not good. That doesn't take any blame away from individuals, as we can all control our own behavior, but I certainly am more than sympathetic to the fact that trying to be a productive member of the community can be really frustrating.

 •
The design of the game kind of pits players against themselves.
And nothing shows that clearer than that changing from Heavy Ammo being available to any nearby team member to Power Ammo only being available to he player who pops the box. How the heck does that even start to suggest cooperative play?

 • Divide and conquer. Intentional or unintentional. Same end result.

 • Thanks man. There's definitely a split.
Because of lack of separation of the competitive PVP from the rest of the game, its really the PVP population vs. PVE
To be fair though while I understand that 'from the beginning' this game was marketed as a PVE shooter with PVP 'elements' people need to have an understanding of evolution. PVP because very popular and in Bungie's acknowledgement of this they (tried) things to inprove the experience. Yes I can agree the the modes should be separated but I also understand that what they tried to do in D1 broke many asp[ects of the game on both sides. So I get why they did what they did with D2. I'm also a person who's accepted those changes and make the best of it but I don't invalidate what others are feeling. A lot of the toxicity is perpetuated from the PVE side at this point simply because of the affects PVP has had on it. I get it but there needs to be more constructive ways of getting feelings out there. On the Community from I personally feel that Bungie is very lax about admin'ing this place. From the general toxicity to the flowing of misinformation they don't do a lot to make this place good for actual feedback. There needs to be a place to vent about Bungie AND there needs to be a place for people to give current game Feedback. They can't coexist in the same section.

PVP because very popular and in Bungie's acknowledgement of this they (tried) things to inprove the experience.
I guess part of the problem with this is that, for those of us less interested in PvP, Destiny being a game series that was to be primarily PvE with a bit of PvP for blowing off steam, it looked like it was shaping up be be great for people who want to play FPS mechanics without having to care about competitiveness. It was going to be a "Different FPS". Instead, it keeps taking steps backwards, and not always well/successfully either. The PvP games already exist. So why one of the few that wasn't focussed that way had to try to do i that direction just seems baffling.

 • Baffling? Look, side activity or not the pvp play was so good and fun in D1 that's it's popularity exploded. You can't blame them for wanting to capitalize on that. What we can blame them for is implementation and design. For putting pvp first. Early on because it was designed as a side activity there wasn't much though put into, on both weaponry and mechanics, the balance of it. PVP requires more balance than pve just by its nature. Their problem is how they are implementing that balance.
