An honest, genuine plea to bungie... Please explain what Josh Hamrick was going on about...

I can't make sense of it... I know I'm not stupid... If that is communication, we've lost all hope... I know you don't want to make promises you're not sure you can keep... but explaining the changes you intend to make is completely different then making promises... I hardly ever ask for upvotes... But please please upvote this to get a little clarity on this situation... Besides that, building sandcastles at high tide is the perfect title of this "update" of this "game"
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to #Feedback forum so that other Destiny players can weigh in. • It's just time to move on at this point. It's clear that this thing has gotten so far away from them that they literally have no clue what to say, other than the truth which they won't. Players need to start to understand, if they don't already, that they can't institute the changes they are looking for fast enough to keep the title relevant or fresh enough to fill those players with a desire to log in. They just made a bad product. It happens. But what doesn't help is the lack of communication and the baffling design choices being made even now. Case in point Lost sectors. They literally needed to do nothing with lost sectors, and yet again this is a perfect example of Bungie trying to do to much, overcompensating in an effort to control the player experience to the point where it chokes the fun out of it. The truth is, even if it were working as intended or not, faction rallies are not going to save this game. Iron Banner is not going to save this game, private matches put in the game sometime in May of 2018, is not going to save this game. The only thing that can save this game is innovation. New enemy types, and I do mean new. New subclasses, activities we haven't seen before. Players are more than happy to put up with mistakes, if they are actually engaged with what the product is offering. Bottom line is nothing is going to change here. If players are still hanging around hoping Bungie sees the light and also sees it in time to turn this mess around, you are wasting your time. The only way to fix this game is to not play it.

    • "The rest of the crew you ask? Oh, they’re just hard at work on super exciting new content to put smiles on all your faces before the year is out... And that’s just the beginning" - Hamrick Super exciting new content? My idea of super exciting new content would be a 4th class other than titan, warlock, or hunter. Maybe a 4th subclass instead of just arc, solar, and void. Playing as a cabal, fallen, or vex would be interesting. Bungie's idea of super exciting new content: chickens, snowballs, and ice hockey.

        • The better question is why josh hammrick and jon wisniewski still have their jobs. Lefts face it D2 is a terrible game largely because of decisions made by the sand box team that they saw as necessary to turn the game into a competitive pvp game. In other words, D2 is terrible largely because of these guys, and now the fate of the game is put back in their hands- and Bungies going to trust these idiots to fix the game? Its not going to happen. Unless these morons are shown the door, there is no hope. Their very presence st bungie hq just shows bungie hasn’t given up the dream of competitive e-sports. I.e., bungie hasn’t given up on the one singular thing that is solely responsible for destroying Destiny.

          • They publicly stated in black and white that they were tired of making content for this game as it was "too hard" and would be "trickling content at a slower drip feed" AND using Eververse to make money INSTEAD. They sold you hype in the form of a dream and then turned around and exploited it instead. These are just facts and words straight from Bungies own Devs. You're just a number on a spreadsheet to them, nothing more. This is NOT the Bungie from their Golden Age Halo days, that's all in the past. There's no reason to get your hopes up anymore. At this point the optimism has nothing to do with reality. I think, slowly but surely, more and more people will finally realize that they need to move on.

          • Josh Hammerick making secret sandbox changes is a bad thing. Guy nerfed blade dancer when they were the weakest class and messed up health regen for everything in the entire game because he found trying to kill someone using their super "frustrating". If that wasn't a clue the game was going into a casual wasteland I don't know what is.

Lot of words that simply said; ...... we are working on it........ I agree with OP this IS NOT what’s needed Bungie. Here’s what you need to do; 1. Setup a section in the TWAB called CHRISTOPHER’S CORNER; 2. List the items and their ETAs from the Barrett List; 3. Have Barrett either say still on track or provide brief no nonsense notes on any material changes; and 4. Do this is EVERY TWAB. Barrett is now accountable and needs to demonstrate to Bungie and the Community he is across his deliverables and their drivers. As to the tone of the report, treat it like a Project Managers report to a CEO. Factual, concise and sans historionics. These are serious times the Community wants results.

              • I just read TWaB and was about to post this exact question. His entire post said nothing about what they're doing and only tried to placate us with vague platitudes and redundant explanations. I read the thing several times and still couldn't understand what he was saying let alone why this was even posted. As far as I can tell they gave Destiny 1 to people who have no idea how it worked and then asked them to make it better but everything they try just screws up something else. Now it's just an endless cycle of hotfixes and bugs and no one realizes the original wrench in the machine was starting over with D2 instead of expanding D1.

If the moderator who moved this post is reading this, stop trying to lower the views on this post so it doesnt get seen.

                  • It sounds like in regards to Mods they are saying they will be focused on improving ability recharge rates... Excuse my language, but that's blamming stupid. Fix super and ability recharge to be faster in a patch. Use mods to modify how the weapon they are attached to performs in fun and gameplay-relevant ways. The only reason to jump through all these hoops is to avoid saying "yes, the feedback we got about super and ability recharge rate SINCE THE BETA was correct and we'll fix it". Swallow your pride so you can focus on making a good game, because at this rate soon "Dev at Bungie" isn't going to look great on that resume. The same applies to Masterworks. Literally no one asked to grind for weapons that made orbs for other players who didn't grind for orb-making weapons and won't return those orbs to us. You should have just fixed super recharge rates and made Masterworks reload and handle significantly faster, or have more sight options, or basically anything that made them work masterfully .

What's needed is for Bungie to break their contract with Activision, pay up whatever they'll owe and go crawling back to Microsoft begging for forgiveness (or Sony, either one really.) That's perhaps the one saving grace in all this - Bungie was smart enough to negotiate the rights to Destiny in their contract. Activision may be publishing the IP, but they do not own it. Bungie owns the IP, which means they can take it to whomever may be willing to support it. They need to sever the festering limb before it spreads to the whole body. That's assuming it's even worth saving at this point, which is questionable at best sadly.

                        • Josh Hamrick’s TL;DR = We are doing stuff to Destiny 2 that we won’t tell you about until we release an update in 2 months at Season 3. Then Redditors will be busy figuring out all the new throttling systems we have implemented into the game that we also aren’t going to tell you about.

                          • Dont expect reasonable dialogue and feedback from Bungie. This is the company that puts out a statement that doesnt admit they got shit wrong majorly, but admits they 'hear us' and will fix the game Then a week later we get faction rally with 1 weapon and a token nerf, despite dif sectors counting as farming....and there being nothing to grind for LOL Couldnt make it up really...within a week the shit communication returned, or it didnt go anywhere. D2 has just become a meme machine and one big joke

                                  • So true. I read the weekly and was like "Wut?" I'm not here to plug Warframe, which I just started playing, as its a very different game, but compare their dev streams and news announcements - it's all good news, new content, fixes, quality of life improvements, more customization. The contrast is stark. Digital Extremes (Warframe) constantly add to the game so if you start today you have 4/5 years of content (like D1 +D2), for free. You will pay money eventually, but their attitude is to add constantly, not to restart and charge you for a substandard product. I love Destiny and may ultimately come back but they need to blow this up and start again. See you for D3 I guess.

                                    • It's awkward that they hamstringed one of the most replayable aspects of the original game - random rolls - in order to "better and more quickly implement sandbox tuning." The game has been out for going on 5 months and hasn't received a single sandbox update.
