Like If You Don't Want D3. Like If You Simply Want "Destiny" To Be A Game That Evolves And Improves And Doesn't Die

Frankly, our present situation started when they began development of D2. There never should have been a Destiny "1" or a Destiny "2". And there shouldn't be a Destiny 3 either. They need to stick with one linear course of development until the franchise is put to rest. This does not mean the game should not be improved upon, or that we should get stuck with broken game mechanics. These things can be fixed, and old content can be phased out in a way that is consistent with the game's development and evolution over time. Even D2 could have followed a linear course if they had left us with all the old patrol zones, and found a way to make these (along with the old strikes and raids) meaningful in the new context. We should have been able to have new experiences on familiar ground. And for new players, it still could have felt like a "new" game. It just wouldn't have left everything it accomplished in D1 behind. Instead, we are left with a promising (albeit sickly) child that is awkwardly trying to fit into its father's clothes. When I started Destiny1 I expected a TV series, not a movie with stand alone sequels that each fundamentally altered the total experience from the ground up. I believed I would be invested in the game from beginning to end. But now, we know D2 is going to be just another title in a trilogy that seems to prop itself up on the shoulders of its predecessor, rather than standing tall and breaking ground in its own right. I really think Destiny should be a linear experiment in gaming, rather than a fragmented (and seemingly degrading) sequence of recycled content. But please understand, I think D2 is cool in a lot of ways. I am enjoying playing it for the first time (I havn't had a chance to play up until now because of school), and I think bungie is going to improve it and possibly leave us with a game at least as fun as D1 by the end of its life. But that is the fundamental problem: D2 has a life. It will die. It will not grow and mature into something better, it will simply die and D3 will replace it, shedding all the progress and innovations that D2 will make. That's the problem. In terms of time investment and the scope of rewards earned, Destiny should not be a standalone title like halo that you can just play, shelve, and move on. Our investment should mean something, it should have a future. It should carry on into the future. But in 2020 or whenever D3 gets released, that investment will be dead. If you agree with me, if you think Destiny should be something that changes and grows, rather than something that dies and gets replaced by an inferior child, leave a comment and a like. Rather than eververse, rolls, or any other short term problem, this is the real problem. Its the problem that got us into the problems we have now. Destiny should continue to grow, not die. Like if you dont want Destiny 2 or Destiny 3: like if you just want "Destiny"... ***Trending Edit*** Seeing this kind of support is encouraging. We all know the game has problems, but we argue because we care. We know what it could be and what it is not. Bungie will probably never implement a shift in development as big as making destiny enfold like a tv series, but we can hope. Perhaps the next tag rebellion needs to be: #nodestiny3 or #2before3. Post your witty ideas below...
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to #Feedback forum so that other Destiny players can weigh in. • Yeah, remember that 10 year plan? THAT died with D2. They publicly stated in black and white that they were tired of making content for this game as it was "too hard" and would be "trickling content at a slower drip feed" AND using Eververse to make money INSTEAD. They sold you hype in the form of a dream and then turned around and exploited it instead. These are just facts and words straight from Bungies own Devs. You're just a number on a spreadsheet to them, nothing more. This is NOT the Bungie from their Golden Age Halo days, that's all in the past.

    • It'd be nice but it's not possible. Unless of course you want more eververse or a monthly subscription

    • I really dont care how they release the product. If its good, I would buy it as an expansion or a full game, i would just want content to warrant the price tag.

If they picked this game up from where ROI left off the game would of been just fine. But no, they made a kid that is trapped in mans body lead. To make matter worse they had another new team as if constantly changing teams creating this game is a good thing so they have a feel for the game right? http://www.gamesradar.com/two-four-year-old-girls-inspired-destinys-revamped-quest-and-light-systems/ Then they get this grate idea in their heads. Just like D1 scrapping content, lets scrap D2 and start over.... Okay, what can we cut out of the content we already created and use that as an expansion? Luke, i'm having a hard time so knowing I don't know how to face the challenges ahead of me or what I'm really doing. Remove this and that, Oh, and we can get rid of that because that is too hard for me. Oh yeah! get rid of that over their too. Well, since that is out of they way lets start over. Oh crap! We only have 18 months to push this broken product out the door and meet Activisions dead lines. Did we just get a new CEO as well Luke? Yeah, but who cares. He makes 6 million a year now so he wont give a flying hoot what I do. Hahahahaha See, no problems at all guys. All we have to do is lie our butt off and these suckers will bite as usual. Just tell them it's a fresh start, that the Red Mole Rate took their stuff so they have to start over, but do it nicely so they feel we are being sincere and thought about them creating D2, a new game to become legend and more powerful. But we wont tell them how bad we watered down and dunb down this game so I could push this broken product out the door. They just have to kill the Red Mole Rat. Hype the crap out of what we will add to this this game, create false promises as usual and use the farm that will never be use again other then for the hype to sell D2. Oh! don't forget to set up Tess tent okay? Holy crap! we can't forget about that. Eververse is what is going to run this sequel and bring us in a boat load of money even though we didn't add JS as far as content for the gamers, but we will play it off as if we made mistakes. You do know you are going to have to make a lot of fake apologies right Luke? Hell, all we have to do is keep saying, whoops! our bad and they well be thanking us when we add things we took from them that could of been added to the base game before it was released. I mean, they been falling for this crap for the last 3+ years so why not. They will believe that we took their feedback from the last 3 years and applied it to this game Hahahahaha. I could go on about the truth of what has actually happen to this sequel, but I don't need to. This sequel is a prime example of what a company does when greed sets in. This is suuposed to be a AAA gaming company making a game for the gamers as well as themselves. This time around it was all about them because of their own screw ups on thinking, eververse was more important then creating an actual sequel. The screwed up thing about all this. They got their money so no worries right? Who gives a crap about the player base especially their loyal fans that stuck by their side this last 3+ years. Who cares that this company once made a game for the gamers and didn't use micro as an excuse to create a great game. Gee, I wonder how they managed to create Halo without the biggest cash grab this company has ever pulled called Dawning? How did they create one of the best games in history for it's time unlike D2 How did they create a great story for that game unlike D2 How did they add the content that was actual content added to that game unlike D2 How did Halo become so successful unlike D2
Back than Bungie was a company that had passion for the game they were creating. They actually gave a flying hoot what the player base thought about the game. They listened to the player base and applied that to Halo, and that is why is was so successful. This new Bungie that thinks eververse is the key to be successful when it comes to their player base has no clue on WTH they are doing other then killing their own game and grabbing as much cash as they can as they do it. That to me is pure BS. This is the "respect and appreciation" they show their player base now. Lie out our butt, rig our game and grab as much cash as we can. ~Bungie
• If you are wondering what is meant by that the series was "rebooted" it means they decided they couldn't sustain continuing to make new expansions. I doubt they will ever go back to that model. There will be a D3 out this september. A d4 out next september. They want to turn it into baby's first call of duty. Always have. They're just not hiding the fact anymore.

All great ideas but unfortunately it's fallen on Bungle / Activi$ion's deaf ears.. Money is the only language they speak. Their '10 year plan' was designed to maximize profits first and make the player's experience a much lesser priority.. Each of the 3 planned games was intended from the very start to have a rocky vanilla first year (actually just a full priced beta) featuring minimal content followed by another year of 'fixes' and patches strung in along the way to keep players engaged. Meanwhile throwing in full priced DLC's on top of microtransactions because god forbid Bungie ever releases any free updates. (and NO.. adding a 2v2 pvp mode for valentines day does not count as content!) The real question will be what lame excuse will the story writers come up with this time to explain why our vault items won't carry over to D3.. ?

        • We as players need to take a stand against bungie. Do not pre-order D3 stop playing D2, and do not buy anything from micro transactions or store. If their cash flow stops they will be forced step up or sit down. We are to blame for the state of destiny, our belief that there is a better D2 feeds their lies to make D2 better. Stand against this half ass developer, it's the only way!!!

        • It would have made a lot of sense. Destiny could have been making the greatest comeback right now if they put the work into another major expansion. which they should be doing now. More people will fork out money for a complete game+ Xpac than a WIP + 2 incomplete expansions. You don't need a new game to keep selling. You just need a good game. Look at WoW, they keep they content rolling and at the same time update their core game. Shit, that game is crazy old now. But it hooks people in because there is a lo to do and a lot to work for, an oh ya... It's fun

            • I can only assume D3 will be a single mission where you shoot some Hive baddie (I think it's their turn to be the main enemy since they were just as neglected as the Cabal in D1) like 3 million times only to have it drop a few engrams that decrypt to a lower level than you are (even though you're level 1) and only give 1 xp. Also all abilities don't finish charging until the boss has 1 hp left and they all do .25 hp worth of damage. Then there is the pvp mode where none of the guns actually do any damage, or they do all the damage (but that doesn't matter because everyone uses the Mida because it's in there for the 3rd time). Everyone is red bar and you automatically die if you pop your super whether you were hit or not. DLC just adds a single mission that adds more backstory but no context for it so no one knows what is going on or why (again). And also like 3 new PvP maps (but only for PlayStation). $40 price tag.

              • YES YES YES YES YES!!! If I lose everything again, and the game changes dramatically, and half of the good things Bungie manages to do over the life of D2 goes poof because someone over there decides to just make a completely different game again, I'm gone. I'm hanging in there now, by my freaking fingernails (especially after this faction rally fiasco... WTF Bungie? Again?! Again?!) but I still have hope. Pull a poof it's all gone on me with D3, and I'll do the same.

                • I couldn’t agree more!! An ever expanding game would be awesome. They can obviously market and build hype, so new fans would come. Clan perks could be structured in a way that encouraged assistance to new players as well *like a bonus kicker if a x amount of newcomers are included in an activity*

                    • I got slammed on a YouTube comment section last year for suggesting that Destiny 2 was a scam, and that I didn't understand why Destiny 1 wasn't being added onto instead. Could you imagine; take all of the story/location/loot content from D2 and put it in D1.. Would there be nearly this much salt? I think we'd all enjoy playing that game. This update merely brings back things from D1 that should've been there in the first place. THERE SHOULD BE NO DESTINY #x. It's just Destiny.. how hard is this concept? Damn you Bungie (moreover Activision) for being so transparent and greedy. Creativity > Cash.
