It shouldn't take months to give us D1 loadout system.

This particular fix alone will help everyone that loved D1. It's the main reason vets have a hard time with D2. It's not the graphics, the strikes, the content. It's boils down to the loadout. Give us Primary (hand cannons, pulse rifles, Auto rifles), Secondary ( shotgun, snipers, grenade launcher), Heavy (Rocket launcher, machine guns, Fusion rifle). One option I'd like to see though. Let us put any weapon in the heavy spot. When any weapon is added there. Give it a huge damage increase. This will make power ammo powerful. This system will allow players to play how they want and have a good laugh when they put a hand cannon in the heavy slot and one shot someone with power ammo. This will allow players not to worry about sharing power ammo or care to wait around. Snipers could two shot people (early destiny 1 feel) , 1 shot with power ammo. Shotguns the same. 2 shot or one shot with power ammo. Or do them both 1 headshot, 2 body like later destiny 1. Please update this sooner then later. Make it #1 priority for now and all other updates can be trickled out. This system will allow the 2 primary weapon feel if people like that. One will be a little more special then the other.. Just a thought.

  • I'd rather not get rid of my scathelocke and older sister. Maybe add a forth slot for shotties, Snipes, and fusion. And map them to the directional pads. They can figure out what to do with emotes maybe hold triangle and then the directional pad for emotes idc.

    • D1 system doesnt need to come back in any form for weapons. Only thing they need to do is buff other power weapons and/or to minor nerfs to Swords/Rockets to fix the main problem.

D2 should have 4 weapon slots. It should be a progression from D1. Right now it is a regression from D1.

      • Putting them in the correct shouldn't be a difficult task, you're right about that, but we don't know how the games' systems are integrated and how one change can ripple across the game. The game is tuned for dual primaries, which offers less dps potential. Meaning every activity needs to be checked to ensure a similar challenge level. With this, does the sandbox need to be adjusted to account for the higher dps? How does this affect PvP? Players now having unfettered access to what we're once power weapons needs to be addressed. The loot system needs to be reworked to ensure that those new specials are dropping accordingly and for the correct slot. Do we keep ARs and Scouts in the second slot alongside Shotties and Snipers? Where do Sidearms go? All these things need to be addressed and "play tested" to ensure consistency across both sides of the game before releasing it. Believe me, if the D1 system comes back, this game looks alot more attractive to come back to. I'm hoping with everything I have that this comes to fruition, but I'm not exactly holding my breath.

          • I bet you think that all Bungie needs todo is flip a switch and ta-da, the old Primary, Secondary and Heavy attempt will come back. We don’t know anything about how Destiny 2 was coded but I can guarantee you it’s not a quick and easy fix.

            • I probably would love D2 in a years time BUT Bungie will still be the developer and they've run out of chances with me I think. D3 is going to be a mess just like D2, every Destiny game they make will be a mess that takes them a year or more to fix. They don't want to innovate the game play experience, to progress the franchise.

From an actual dev standpoint, it's impossible to say. I haven't seen how they code the weapon system and slotting mechanics. If they did a smart job of coding the system, all they have to do is update the value for -sniper- to be -secondary-; this would be if they were using either a database-style look-up system with the proper configuration, or if they threaded out the methods properly in something like C#. In either case, just drop in and change a value, then test the edge cases (like Fighting Lion) to make sure you didn't introduce a defect or unintended feature concept. If they coded poorly or too granularly, then they will have to go into each individual weapon of the affected types and change the values of them, then possibly change the over-all load out system to accept the changes, and then test it extensively to ensure no conflicts or glitches (because you have 2 different systems trying to determine the same bit of info). If that doesn't work, it may be a scrap-and-rebuild sort of scenario.

Don't ever try anything like the Final Fantasy franchise... where interfaces can change with every release in a series. Just saying... it is not all that uncommon to see changes in a new release---not an expansion, but a new game. As in, this is not D1 but D2... much the same as FFXIV online was not FFXI online, despite all the similarities and throwbacks to the predecessor, it is substantially different while also being extremely familiar at the same time.

            • I assure you, as someone who raided the ever living hell out of D1, the load out system is like not even on the list of why I stopped playing. The loadout system is literally THE LAST THING y'all should have on your list of things D2 needs to improve. Same goes for the legion of people now saying "bring back random rolls". Oh yes, nothing like raiding and getting an armor piece with strength on it. If it wasn't Int/Disc it was worthless. Simple as that. Random rolls will not solve your issues. No, the issue is the lack of weapon variety and a meaningful and deep customization system. No one asks for random rolls on their weapons in games like Battlefield 4, or Blacklight. Why? Because the mod system is one that changes up your gameplay tremendously. Y'all need to stop looking at symptoms and look at the cause. The cause is lack of vision or anything remotely resembling content that belongs to a AAA studio. If this were some random indie developer that made D2 it would be fine. This is Bungie, the game is 60 dollars, I expect more. WE expect more.

                • I don't believe they ever said they were going to revert this back to the D1 loadout system, and I'm GLAD they're not. I genuinely don't understand the hate for the new system, it's great... All the other issues you mentioned like end game, strikes, content, etc take WAY more priority over a weapon loadout... Bungie please ignore this forum topic.

                • Not all of us want it, only those who lone wolf sniper shoot or stupidly slid about on their knees constantly using shotgun and no land beyond want it back, they're missing their crutch weapons.

This has to be the 8th time I've typed this today: changing an integral system like that is like knocking out a load-baring column of a house. It's not easy and it risks ruining everything else around it.

You bind a exotic weapon and start grinding! -25’000 pve kills better stats. -50‘000 pve kills evan better stats. -15‘000 precicion kills (pve+pvp) new perk added. -1550 Pvp kills new perk added Lets start grinding!!!! What about a Bound-Subclass ???

                    • True, but check my recent post. I outline a perfect way for Bungie to bring back special weapons all while keeping PvE people and PvP people pleased. AND how to give more weapon loadout variety than D1 ever had.

The main issue I had with Destiny 2 is that I never felt powerful. If your game is trash and has barebones content, at least give me the overpowered stuff to make it fun. That's what Destiny got right, it was an average game at best but I got a lot of play time out of it because of the pure chaos that was it's loadout; gjallarhorns, black hammers, icebreakers, shotguns with damn near infinite range, obsidian mind/ bad juju infinite nova bombs, celestial nighthawk, viking funeral/touch of flame firebolts, the infamous thorn meta, the list could go on forever. What bungie fail to realize is that all that overpowered crap is actually what kept people playing the game. Destiny 2 is just Destiny without all that cool shhit so there's no reason to play it. Move shotties and Snipers back to secondaries where they belong, having them as power weapon is just -blam!-, and give us heavy ammo synths so we can bypass your god awful power ammo drop system.
