Since we are on the topic of checking reality...
Since Bungie is a private company it would make decisions based on revenues and other data. And would not be unduly influenced by a very small minority of customers.
As someone that isn't an employee or shareholder, I would never expect them to do anything I suggest on an internet forum. I have yet to see anyone follow up their wants and desires with sound business case analysis, a viable value proposition or anything close to relevant market analysis.
If you can do any of that, you know what...you would likely get a PM and an offer to interview with them as they are hiring. You want to make positive changes, you make them for all your customers. That's reality, the rest is starside gaurdian.

Your logical fallacy is called 'No True Scotsman.' It is a call to purity stating that anyone without arbitrary qualities is not capable of giving valid criticism. As reasonable as you try to sound you do not deconstruct any of the points made by OP and just instead dismiss his entire post because you think the OP himself is not knowledgeable enough to have an opinion. Your argument is just fancy name calling.

Ask EA how those Battlefront 2 Loot Crates are going

Edited by LordZoltan: 1/13/2018 5:45:20 AMReally, it's like you're the new guy trying to explain to the grizzled veteran how the military works. Well listen up private Snuffy, I don't need your input. I've been here too long and posted too many times to garner any insight from you. So do me a favor and go play the game. And leave the feedback to the veterans.
-
Discounting feedback due to being newer is idiotic. Sure, veterans arguably have a greater commitment to this franchise, but ignoring newer players feedback, especially when it is valid, makes little sense to me.
-
I am not discounting his feedback to Bungie. I am simply saying that what he is telling people who have been here for three or more years and have played both the first and second game is irrelevant.
-
Before I forget, there are two things I should have mentioned earlier. Number one, I already stated that Bungie doesn't listen to their player base. So thank you for reiterating what I already said and going into more detail about why they don't listen. Number two, why is there a feedback forum?
-
You are apparently unaware of the situation that occurred with Star Wars Battlefront 2. Right before the launch of that game, there was an uproar on the Internet by consumers in regards to their pay to win scenario they had created with loot boxes. The outcry was so massive that they shut down all microtransactions. And the stock of Electronic Arts was devalued to the tune of 3.1 billion dollars. But I guess you missed that.
-
Nope. But you can't influence Bungie stock. And they can make a very logical argument that there I'd no pay to win system here. I mean we are on the topic of reality where one cannot simply compare oranges and apples. Hey, I don't think the game is perfect. But I'm having a great time playing as are my friends. I'm on the new PC platform, so destiny world began for me in Nov. It my perspective, but what I see here is some business innovation and true genius. I think their marketing and customer experience teams need to make some improvements because even if the forums are much less than 1% of your base, they can tarnish an image. And if I'm a Bungie employee I want my mgmt to smack down the BS that violates TOU. But as an experienced corporate leader I think the Bungie team is doing the right things and striking a good balance. I mean let's be clear, they said they were listening, they never promised to implement anything posted. But for players to think that they have control over content, structure or financial aspects, that is unrealistic. You can lose the entire hardcore player group as long as you can replace that revenue with more casual players. That's reality, you may not like it and that's fair. But what I'm seeing from Bungie is a desire for balance. Not between PvP and PvE, but hardcore D1 veterans and the new D2 casual player.
-
And you are apparently utterly blind to the roots of the game and the recycling scam Destiny 2 is. I play on PC too. The game is worth paying for solely because of the massive improvement over fisher price consoles. The expansion is not. It's nothing but reskin and recycle. It's blatantly obvious what a scam is going on here *especially* for console gamers. I believe you when you say you have corporate XP. They like gullible followers with no critical thinking outside of their own shortsighted focus.
-
You think they are doing a good job? Really? Irrespective of forum numbers as a % of the overall d2 player base they are doing a horrible job Check the player numbers it’s down to just over 300k pvp and 700k pve worldwide for destiny 1,2 and includes pc The lowest I ever saw d1 fall to on its own was 300k pvp That was purely console remember! It’s clear to anyone that the player base is leaving fast! Good job you say

One off the biggest parts to any business is “Retention” Your an intelligent idiot!
-
Thank you for your in-depth economic analysis. I have no desire to argue with you about why Bungie doesn't address player concerns or the hashtag remove eververse.
-
No worries. People have a hard time accepting customer service is a data driven exercise. As for MTX, that's market forces speaking. Hey in my day, you had to buy the entire album (vinyl), cassette and than CD. Thanks to iTunes, etc. You buy what you want. This is actually far more democratic and representative. Would you prefer just to have a timed subscription, pay as you play (by the minute)? Where each time milestone unlocked content and items? I can see their CFO salivating, lol!

Edited by JJIBIIIS: 1/13/2018 7:50:26 AMYour really old news, shush! http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-22-bungies-mmo-style-sci-fi-fps-destiny-out-2013-as-an-xbox-360-next-xbox-timed-exclusive I suggest everyone read it, oh how things change and the reasons behind the greed! The subscription was rejected, just think! It’s what we are buying into and in the long run! Do we still want the same garbage for next 2 instalments, get a grip or lose money on garbage all your life!

None of what you just said makes any sense to me whatsoever. It makes no sense to me because I choose to ignore it. I choose to ignore it because you're trying to be pithy. And I find that just a little patronizing. Our discussion is at an end. Come talk to me when you have 3 years on the forums.
-
Not pithy at all, just honest. At my age my perspectives won't be changing over time. I am who I am. You are welcome to disagree. But I never fail not to listen to the other side, nor do I tune out my opposition. But perhaps that the present day reality of our society. Good luck with that approach. I'll stick with mine. But even with our differences I'd be happy to join you Fireteam and just play.
-
Unfortunately I play on the PS4. And no cross-play.
-
Yeah that is a bummer. PC version is another world from what I've seen vs consoles. Maybe that's it. The $ invested in my rig makes eververse a drop in the bucket, literally.
-
So that's it? It's about how much money you have? Or is it about how much money you're willing to spend? I know that you are older than me and probably make quite a bit more so there's that. Please feel free to tell us your age and income so that we can all bow to your greatness.
-
Old enough to have finished graduate school when darpanet was becoming www, lol. I don't worry about money anymore because I've always been a cheap bastard. Bungie has an interesting business model. They get a big chunk all in the beginning, but that's got to cover the upfront investment. You finished the red campaign and watched the credits, that was a lot people and they cost a lot. The Activision deal helps bankroll and make the cash flow stable. But you need to have recurring revenue if you are only going to have one big pay day every 3 years with 2 smaller DLC paydays. So based on your revenue targets to look at the customers you need and the splits required from MTX since Activision has a ton of financial modelling there. This then dictates the market segments you cater to. If people believe that all the love goes to PvP and casuals that want to play 5 hr/week yet look good via Tess&Co, than I'm saying yeah follow the money. I don't fault them for this, nor do I expect them to come out an explicitly say this is what they are doing. I'm saying my eyes are wide open to reality and in my personal cost/benefit analysis, playing D2 works for me. What works for you is what you decide, same for everyone. But from my business experience, Bungie is trying to thread the needle and it's going g to be interesting to watch. And who knows, maybe I get to toss chocolate bonbons at the strike bosses during Crimson Days, lol!
-
So mid-fifties. Okay great. Did you spend like roughly $3,000 on your "rig". That's if you went top of the line. Well congratulations on your success. Are you aware that the sun does not rise or set? That in fact it is the earth that rotates on its axis orbiting around the Sun that provides an illusion of the sun rising and setting? I feel that this is important information that I have to tell people. Because I am sure that they do not know. But now you do, so you are better for it. Enjoy!
-
Um, who are you talking to? With who are you having a conversation? I ask because you provide a lot of unnecessary and useless information that has nothing to do with my original post. Your insight into Bungie's business practices is of no use to anyone but you. Hey, I'm over here, talk to me.
-
You’re a kid getting schooled by your better. Take the advice and quit acting petulant. 3 years on a forum doesn’t mean shit.
-
That's a hell of an assumption you've got going on there big dog. I'm getting schooled by my better? How exactly? Because he spouts pseudo economics that only he understands? I'm a kid? Really? And you know this how? I've been here three years. You know what that means Cowboy? It means I've seen the same arguments posted over and over and over again. And nothing of what he's saying is new. In any way. So the next time you feel like assuming, just remember, don't.

I’ve been here 8 years and I’ve seen plenty of people like you. Pseudo economics.....hahaha. Because you can’t understand what he’s saying it must be made up? Wow....seriously.
