I’ve decided to write down my re-imagination of Halo 5’s campaign.

I like it

It’s somewhat better, but needs work

I didn’t like it

Yeah, since I’ve got a lot of time, being buried under snow, why not make new campaigns from previous ones?! Anyways, let us begin. No beating around the bush here (bowchickabowwow). Mission 1: master chief and blue team still head to argent moon. No problem there. But instead of chief receiving a vision of Cortana speaking to him, he receives a vision of the guardians, Genesis, and what he must do to ensure humanity’s survival. But he doesn’t tell us or blue team of what he is going to do. Blue team blows up Argent Moon, but then goes AWOL. Mission 2: Fireteam Osiris heads out to try and rescue Doctor Halsey. They infiltrate the facility, rescue her since she can easily find Master Chief. But they don’t kill Jul’Mdama. Instead, he retreats to Sanghelios to hide out. Mission 3: Fireteam Osiris, with the help of Halsey, head to Meridian, hoping to find Master chief. Instead they see a invasion of Promethean’s, and a Guardian about to wake. There they find Master Chief, but not blue team. Locke attempts to stop Chief, but Chief drop kicks Locke and starts beating him like Fluffy does to chocolate cakes. But Locke does crack chiefs visor, and damages his armor. Mission 4: With Chief gone, and presumably working for the Forerunners, Halsey determines that they need outside assistance to find Chief. She asks Fireteam Osiris to look for both Blue team, and The Arbiter. They head to Sanghelios, and meet with the Female Elite (I forget her name) and save the Arbiter. After saving the Arbiter, he decides to teach Locke about chief. And this next cutscene would be like it is in the Master Chief Collection Trailer. Arbiter telling Locke about Chief, and soon, Arbiter tells the Fireteam to find Blue team, then return to him. Mission 5: Blue team is under assault by Promethean’s and Covenant. Osiris takes a pelican, and saves Blue team. Blue team then reveals that Chief saw “A vision of the Past” and will do anything to save it. Blue team reveals that his next target will be the Guardian under the covenant city on Sanghelios. Mission 6: Assault on the Covenant Capital City. Throughout the mission you find little pieces, suggesting that Master Chief has just been through here. Guardian wakes up, and you finally meet the Warden Eternal. Kill the warden, and with the Arbiter, you jump onto the guardian, and head to Genesis. Mission 7: On genesis, you lead a tank, warthog, and maybe a ghost to try and find Chief. You find him at the teleporter, where the Arbiter tries to convince Chief, that whatever he is doing is wrong, and that he will destroy the universe. This is when Cortana finally appears, showing us she is alive, but also bat shit crazy due hay fever- I mean rampancy. Mission 8: Cortana Kidnaps Chief, leaving Locke, Arbiter, and Blue Team to try and save him. The rest of Osiris is trying to prevent Cortana from leaving. Chief realizes what he has done, and tries to stop Cortana, only to fail horribly. Chief gets knocked out, and it’s up to Locke and Arbiter to stop her. Upon defeating her, Cortana reveals that she has seen the return of an ancient enemy, and that order must be restored. She teleports away, sending the Guardians away to take human worlds, except for Sanghelios. The Infinity waits here with the elites, and as both Teams return, they decide that Elites and Humans must work together. But the Halo rings start coming online, as some installation activated them. Whoo!!! That was a mouthful. Hope you enjoyed! And yes, constructive criticism is welcome.

  • Seems pretty good to me, especially compared to that shitty fan-fic they dare call a campaign. One point I didn't like was the abandonment of Jul M'dama. He goes to Sanghelios and does... what? Better than him and any possibility of a coherent story getting shot over a cliff, but still under-utilizes a fleshed out and semi-competent villain in the Halo universe.

The one thing you didn’t change, which was H5’s biggest mistake, was not making MC the central character. Bungie made exactly the same mistake in H2 and there was a huge uproar and backlash from the gaming press and fans about this back in the day. So why on earth 343 thought it was a good idea to do it again beggars belief. MC is Halo, just as Lara Croft is Tomb Raider!

I think it needs more Chief. I know the marketing showed him going rouge and Locke hunting him, but I despised playing as Locke. Some gameplay as the Arbiter would be great also.

    • I like it. Well, most of it. The whole “I’ve seen an ancient enemy” thing was kind of lame, but I like the changes you made. It was more fitting with the commercials, too.

I feel the story should have ended with Halo 3. It was cool how the forerunners were an ancient and mysterious thing in the previous Halo games. I think it would have been better, and would have added to the Halo universe, if a game trilogy was made focusing on them and their history. Imagine first contact between the flood and the forerunners,..or the ending where the forerunners discover the war between them and the flood is one that can't be won, so they have to build a super weapon capable of wiping out all life in the galaxy...Halo.
I like your version better than 343i.
