Bungie has said many times over, that Destiny is one of the hardest games to fix of any game most have worked on. The way the game engine is designed makes it much harder than it should be at this point.
I hate to say it, but I don't think Destiny can be fixed as it is now. At least not in a time frame that people will be comfortable with.
They are probably on a deadline with Activision on the next DLC. So, they have the majority of people working on that. But they can't make any changes to this game because it will, in turn, affect the DLC.
So my guess is that they will try and do a 1 up by implementing any serious changes with the next DLC.
Not sure how many people will be around by then but it is what it is.
One thing 2017 taught me is to never ever, ever pre order any game or DLC again. Its like giving money away for nothing. Make people earn money.
edit 1. Honestly, Bungie would have been better off just releasing D2 as a large expansion of D1 for the same price. They wouldn't have offended most of their fans. who are now gone.

They said it's a different engine for D2 than D1 and that it would help them do patches quicker this time around. They also said that old gen consoles were holding back the game/a fix for vault space...seems to be complete BS at this point as those are still issues. Bungie will give any reason they can to push criticism away long enough for them to make an announcement for a new event/content.

I don’t mean to be harsh but I have to say it. You are believing in their propaganda machine. The engine was NOT the problem. That was just the excuse they fed the masses, and look, most just ate it right up. It was the Activision/Bungie contract that held them to making content in such a tight time crunch, and due to the nature of the game, it became too big for them to handle after the fact. Them saying the engine was too hard to deal with was an excuse for them to add in a more Eververse focused D2 into the franchise. This way they would make the revenue they were on contract to make, even though they wouldn’t have to make as much “content” (D1 standard content) as before. It was a lazy excuse. Them feeding you all a line of bullshit about the engine and them promising everyone once the engine was redone they would of been able to make more content in D2. Which was a play on words and propaganda used to make you ok with them adding things to the Eververse store and that fulfilling the definition of them “creating new content” for everyone more frequently. In essence they are telling the truth doing it all in late Bungie fashion. They essentially DID retool the engine and new content IS being added more often, just through the Eververse store lol. How great is that!?! The proof is the engine wasn’t completely redone they stated it was just retooled. I didn’t say this they did. That’s why a lot of the same problems that existed in D1 followed everyone into D2. The engine wasn’t really the issue. It was the fact they couldn’t keep up with this franchise’s needs along with the community’s needs. So their solution was the Eververse focus as opposed to making meaningful content. It’s very sad it all has come to this. You are right in D2 will not be able to recover in a timely manner. Unfortunate.

Hats off to you for a very well put response. I preordered, but right before I handed the cashier at Game Stop...I paused and thought about how much we kept getting screwed over in D1 and about how I felt the beta played. Game Stop cashier looked at me like I just kicked her puppy when I pulled my card back and said I was going to wait and see how things progress...I think I heard booing, but when I turned around they shut up hehe.

They rationalized releasing Destiny 2 as a chance to build an engine that was easier to work with when adding new content. I'd bet the content that we will get before the DLC (if we get any) will be content that is already planned for that DLC, pulled and released early according to the extent of the community's outcry. Bought the game with a season pass, and as a result I won't buy anything else associated with Destiny, Bungie, or Activision.

The tiger game engine is the same version of the engine that was used for "The Dark Below" DLC. It had a shading and light source upgrade about a month before release. That was the only changes made. Its still the same cumbersome and complicated game engine from D1. As the developers have said many times. Destiny is more like coding for a web browser than a game.

Yeah, I think that @BlackWidow503 hit the nail on the head. It was a line of propaganda to ease the transition for players from D1 to D2. Sadly D2 is a mess.

Roi and ttk were not perfect but decent enough that i very faithfully preordered. More of that i would have been happy. Learned my mistake.

I had thought many times while playing how in the world can this represent 3 years of work with so many outside resources added to their group....Now I see it was thrown together in less than a year and a half and that makes sense and from the sounds of it even then they were changing gears during that time. Says all you need to know. I agree completely with that I don't see how in the world they can turn the ship around in a meaningful way.
-
Actually that statement is in regards to the original game. They “modified” the engine to make it more accessible, so they say.
-
Developers conference videos have said over and over that this game engine is the same version as The Dark Below. Except they did do an update just before release for lighting and shading. It's why arour and weapons don't have the cool effects that rise of Iron weapons and armor had.
-
I agree completely, with as fast as things come and go these days, they don't have time to fix this game AND hold onto a meaningful player base.. And yeah, unless it's just like $2 or $3, I'm good on the pre orders... I have to see proof first, I feel robbed of my $100 for this shit show..!

good post agree with all of it. Perfectly sums up my own thoughts
