If I didn't do my job correctly- nothing, nothing would happen. Anyways, the interview was very revealing, I remember when they announced they would partner up with Activision in 2010 and immediately my heart sank. I doubt it has solely to do with Activision, but it would also make sense for a publisher that has difficulty making new and innovative decisions in their key franchises that this (Destiny) would be no different. So that is it then? They can't do it? The only thing they can do at this point, is to anoint an entirely new leadership at Bungie, someone that can manage resources efficiently and mitigate the problems that Luke Smith has allowed. I'm not sure if it's the amount of content in this game that is the issue, but rather it's how it's all used. My main gripe about this game was never the Eververse, it was the lack of an overall progression. So, with Bungie hiring someone to create a progression tied to the microtransactions, maybe that person has the good sense to come up with a system that can also be applied to the overall game. I've coded a menial progress bar in a free game dev software and it wasn't that hard, it's literally one of the first lessons in the tutorial! Good luck to the community and to Bungie... with every update and 'drip feed' of information, it's only adding more nails in the coffin. Soon, there'll be no room left for more nails.

The problem is that there seems to be a factional fight within Bungie over whether Destiny will primarily be a RPG with FPS game play mechanics.....(Chris Barrett, Luke Smith, and the Live Team) ...and those who want Destiny to be primarily a FPS with a candy-coating of RPG elements to increase PVE replayability (Jon Weisznewski, Mark Nosworthy, Weapons/Sandbox team). Which turns the situation into a conflict over whether the game will have a PVE focus (RPG advocates) or a PVP focus (FPS advocates). What happened to Destiny 2 was an attempted re-branding of the game. In trying to turn the game from primarily an RPG (which D1 was at the end of its life cycle) with a end-game focused around grinding for gear and power-progression, to a game that is primarily an FPS (which is what D2 is right now) with a end-game focused around PVP and the chase for cosmetic customization. ...and the community is rejecting it. Rejecting it because the Bungie seemed to lose sight of the fact that its not so much about the game they want to MAKE, but what the game IS....and WHY people play the game. IOW, the majority of this game's hardcore player base has ALWAYS been PVE players who see the game and relate to it primarily as an RPG.. So, it should have been predictable that a PVE focused fan base, was going to respond very poorly to a game that was clearly intended to have a PVP focused end-game....and with a player power-curve that got squashed flatter than a pancake. Until this internal struggle over what this game should be is resolved....this game is going to struggle and be far more polarizing than it needs to be. ...and given what has happened. Its time for the FPS advocates to surrender this fight, and hand over control to the people who understand and accept that the game is loot-based RPG at its soul.

  • They do. Its just difficult to get 800 people all pulling in the same direction, and working towards the same goal. Jon Weisznewski---when you listen to him give interviews----has a very clear vision of the kind of game he wants to make. The problem is that its incompatible with the kind of game Destiny IS, in many ways. Add that to a company with a "personality" of stubborn "We're going to do things our way"....and this is what you get. A company willing to take risks that others won't.....but one that is also slow to admit when a chosen path simply won't work, and course-correct.

  • Like I said, they don't know what the f#@$ they're doing. So unless you actually have any experience in game art and design, or you're currently employed by Bungie, I don't want to hear any more excuses.

  • Very true. Pve has suffered in d2 and last time I looked the pve player count was around 1.5 million while PvP was less then 200k. I'm willing to bet a good amount of those 200 k also played Pve that day. So what does this tell me. The player base is mainly pve so they should cater to ove and if PvP suffers it's not a big deal because they make up a very small part of The player base

  • Agreed. But when you're dealing with people, egos get involved....and people don't want to admit that they made an error in judgement. That might be what we're seeing here. Because if you looked at the player numbers, they never should have gone down this road in the first place.

  • I just wish people would put their egos aside for a min and step back. look at the situation in a whole. The game is far from perfect but has more potential then any other game and I feel still has a large fan base we are just upset with the direction they went with the game we love. We feel cheated and lied to we feel let down. Thats why so many people are in a uproar on the forums but if you sift threw the crap posts and the people just trying to get everyone heated you will see there are certain things a lot of the people want. The biggest thing and the best thing they could do for this game would be seperate the PVP and PVE. We are 2 different groups. I'm ok with the PVP now and i dont thing it needs any change other then more maps and the ability to choose yrou game type but PVE is missing power. I miss having a real power weapon you know the heavey wepon. the ghorn and the razlighter. I miss being able to clear adds with my dark drinker and still be able to carry a shotgun or sniper if I want to. weapons like icebreaker are great for PVE but create issues in PVP. Seperate them. I just hope they can figure this all out before its too far gone.
