Had you a clue, you’d know that the forum population isn’t representative of the player population as a whole.

  • True, but those who don’t bother or care enough about the game to read or post on the forums are typically not the hardcore, long term fans that will sustain this franchise.

  • Actually, it’s the casuals who are the huge majority of players. Catering to the hardcore isn’t a winning business proposition. Unless you’re Dark Souls, where that’s kind of your thing. Not saying it’s not possible, but the hardcore players are by definition a small group.

True, to a point. While casuals definitely make up the majority of all D2 players, who is actually still playing D2? It’s the hardcore. The 80% drop in daily logins was the casual crowd moving on to CODWWII.

  • It’s probably similar. Enough response have been tallied that you could make the assumption with reasonable accuracy. I haven’t done the math, but I’d guess it’s within about 7-8%.

  • The only vocal and entitled few are the defenders of Tess. The situation has delved into McCarthyism, and the Pro-Tess movement are the communists.

Sad that you’ve got history exactly wrong, and ironic that your McCarthyism comment means the opposite of what you intend, but funny. And. . .you should look up both vocal and entitled. They do not mean what you think they mean.

  • First, let’s look at who is vocal. Are you really looking at the forum and trying to say it’s the allegedly pro-Tess faction that’s being vocal? If we’re looking at the same forum, it’s exactly the opposite. Next, let’s talk entitlement. The allegedly pro-Tess faction are okay with the idea of personal responsibility and choosing not to buy something if they don’t want it. The people complaining about Eververse are complaining that they have to pay for cosmetic extras they think should be given to them as part of the game. If we’ve hit a common definition of entitlement, it’s clear the latter faction fits the bill. Finally, Mccarthy. He was a Senator at the heart of the anti-Communist movement (giving it its name) and made famous the practice of loudly and publicly denouncing people as treasonous communist sympathizers with little or no evidence, and many times unfairly. So if you’re saying the “pro-Tess” people are the communists under McCarthyism, you’re saying they’re being persecuted by a vocal, unfair minority for political gain—presumably the opposite of what you intended.

  • Our problem with Eververse (or at least mine) is not that the cosmetics are harmless, or optional, or earnable through gameplay. Rather, Eververse is so integrated into the game that everything from the means of transport, communication, and "progression" (leveling) are fundamentally linked to it. We don't care about any cosmetics, we care about the fact that so much of what we do in game is linked to the loot boxes.

Well, I don't know about you, but I came to this game to earn loot, not gamble for useless items that look pretty but yield no gameplay value whatsoever. Wouldn't it be nice for leveling up to give a new ability, or access to a new weapon or activity, instead of getting more loot boxes? Whether or not Bungie decides to remove Eververse is entirely up to chance, but at the very least they should make it less intrusive upon normal gameplay.

  • The things you say you want aren’t mutually exclusive to Eververse, though they don’t seem to fit with the philosophy of the game. It’s not like they’d magically happen if Eververse went away.

  • Yes, the protests are definitely misdirected. Destiny 2 is just broken right now, and removal of a vendor will change absolutely nothing. I guess it's more the concept of "stop messing with the game" then "Eververse sucks forever", although I'm sure that's how some of the people here think.

  • As a filthy casual—about half my D1 hours were in Patrol—I have to admit I’m not entirely thrilled with D2, either. They’ve taken the “weekly ritual” crap overboard and dumbed the whole thing down to where it’s less interesting. But when I’m finally done, I’ll just move on to the next thing without looking back.
