Most of the “free” updates at this point are just more micro-transaction cash grabs. In D1’s the dawning, we also got SRL, and strike scoring. This dawning we got...snowballs...and micro transactions.... we buy the base game and season pass for over 100$. Bungie would be fine making that amount of money on D2. D2 would die with a subscription service. Nobody is going to pay for the game upfront along with a monthly subscription.

Probably right. Although thats what ESO was doing at first. I guess it didn't work out for them. Although the game being painfully boring didn't help out either.

Exactly. Not enough people realise these live events practically have nothing new. Biggest example was the Halloween event. We farmed enemies for candy, to fill up a bag to get a mask, TWO of which we could keep. The rest has to be payed for.

I wasn't referring to live events as much as I was free updates. In one of the free updates for d1 we got a free strike and a side mission/ quest I think. My memory sucks so Im really not sure exactly what we got.
