Hi talking about MMO's, you usually choose what you wan't to play. The Tank, support and DPS Class. I feel like Destiny 2 wanted to go that way... a little bit. But at the same time not really. Titans have some shield mechanics but can't really tank any boss or mobs. You just shoot, hide and jump around like all others. Right now choosing Classes only Change the look, jump mechanic and some abilities.
Don't expect that to come in D2. And not in D3 or D4.
• Destiny is all about making a whole feeling of magic and the traveler and light. Introducing classes like these would simplify the game's story and overall appeal. Don't add these classes. Also, if these classes were added then you would get killed by one class every time in pvp because of how polar they were. That would be a rage-causing mess

  • I don't think its supposed to be Tank, Heal, DPS or whatever combination of fantasy tropes. Its supposed to be Wizard, Close Quarters Specialist, Long Range Specialist. But I still said "Yes, other reasons". Honestly, while Titans wear heavy armor, they shouldn't be "Tanks". They aren't going to be sitting there, aggroing bosses or mobs. They wear heavy armor to take more damage, to get in close and be aggressive. Its just a play style thing. Hunters are nimble, agile, whatever, and sneak around in their camouflage cloaks and stuff. They are supposed to be Bounty Hunters, Assassins, the like. They kill from a distance if possible. Again, just a play style thing. Warlocks are supposed to be spell wielders. While they still use guns and stuff, they have magical grenades, instead of conventional grenades, and things of that nature. They are supposed to be powerful but vulnerable, considering they get fairly close to their targets, but use light armor. While Voidwalkers seem closest to the Spellcaster trope, they really aren't much different currently. I think that the game is really missing out on what makes these classes, and even Races, unique. While all the classes behave differently, they don't lend themselves into their respective roles as much. Its really because of the DPS nature of the gameplay. There is so much emphasis on damage sponge enemies, and less emphasis on FPS style immersion. I think if Headshots were a thing, you would have a vastly different, more role-playing experience. Right now, there isn't enough incentive to not just use an AR as a Hunter, instead of a Scout Rifle, Sniper Rifle combo. Same with Warlocks and Titans. Why use a Shotgun as a Titan? In my opinion, Bungie needs to really do some updates to their mechanics to really deliver on the RPG elements. Right now, Destiny, both games, is a Bungie style shooter at heart, with some extra RPG elements and distinction. They just haven't taken the game to the next level, and made an immersive, role playing experience. I would have so much more respect for the game if Hunters really took on the Long Range Specialist role, etc. Right now, the gameplay is just too homogeneous. Its in the armor stats, in the weapon loadouts, in the way classes play the game itself. We aren't really offered different ways to play, because the game is fairly linear in its gameplay. For example, you can't run a strike more than 1 way.

    • Being a certain class shouldn't lock you into any sort of set, and arguably even subclass. Perhaps it could be based on perk tree, and armor perks. Of course, you'd have to balance encounters accordingly, and that isn't something the game in its current state can handle, and I don't know how you would change raids and other activities to fulfill that, without radically changing the game the way is played. However, I do like the idea, because it opens up many diverse playstyles other than "floaty shooty guy"

No. There are plenty of MMORPG on PC, and most of the ones on console have the classes you speak of. If you wanted to play a standard(staple) MMORPG then you've plenty to choose from with various system requirements. Some like Tera even have skills and controls that are better used with a console controller but with the graphics/player base of a PC game. D1 Vanilla felt like an MMORPG spin-off of Halo(I say that after having played Halo avidly until Bungie gave whatever was left after Halo 4 to Microsoft, and D1 from release until D2), and I feel like D1 after HoW, as well as, D2 have tried hard to move away from that. That's why it's not a staple MMORPG, but it's not just an RPG FPS with matchmaking either. It's unique unto itself. I loved D1 because it wasn't like any other MMORPG that I'd played before, and I've played many Korean ones on PC. Personally, I'd hate to be locked into just a Cleric role again, even though I play a Hunter in D2. However, in staple MMORPG it's hard to find a capable tank/cleric and everything in any raid/dungeon/instance depends on them being good at their classes. I played a Cleric in the last PC MMORPG that I played because after waiting 7+ hours for a Cleric just to go to some crappy instance for the quest reward and still not getting to complete it. It wasn't a bad class, though it wasn't as easy as DPS(I'm only speaking of that one game, not making a statement that says all games DPS classes are super simple) and I was good at it, but at the end of the day I felt like I hadn't much choice if I ever wanted to go anywhere or get anything good in the game. All in all, it's good to not have to wait hours and hours to do an stupidly simple dungeon.

I won't say that strict roles are necessary, but I'd love to see healing focused Skillset(s). Not personal healing, but the ability to heal an ally. Adding a subset of abilities to allow a player to better fit a role without sacrificing DPS. This would make all a formidable force on their own while allowing the off choice of Tanking/Defense, Support/Utility, Healing, or just extra damage I have too many ideas for additions to type them all out here, but many things include: -Alternate uses and effects of abilities (on ally hit vs enemy hit or hold to charge for x effect similar to a voidlock's abilities) -Stat improvement and modification (class specific stat bonuses and rework of Resilience) -modification of ability allocation (swap your grenade for another melee ability for example) And much much much more...
