Player Feedback: Masterworks and Modifications

Since the release of [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/Update/46536]Destiny 2 Update 1.1.1.1[/url], we’ve been monitoring player feedback concerning the Masterworks. We’d like to give you a list of items that’s on our list to address. We don’t have a specific date for when these changes would take place, but we’d like to give insight as to what teams at Bungie are aiming to accomplish: [b]Player acquisition:[/b][quote]• We’re implementing a new mechanism that we can use to limit long dry spells in Masterwork drops due to bad RNG. • We will also be looking at adding some guaranteed sources of Masterworks, but we are working on a broader plan to improve prestige activity rewards and it might wait until then. • We’re watching overall drop rates and usage over the holiday and will adjust drop rates and material costs as needed.[/quote] [b]Masterwork Inventory Management[/b] [quote]• We’re planning a fix for Masterwork Cores not going to your postmaster if you’re full on Consumables. • To help prevent accidental loss of Masterwork Cores, we're extending the dismantle timer to give players a larger window to stop the process.[/quote] [b]Stat Bonuses[/b] [quote]• Right now, the stat bonuses are small tweaks intended for players who want to optimize very deeply. We’re watching feedback and are excited to adjust or add more stat bonuses in the future. Once we have more information, we’ll share our plans with you.[/quote] Additionally, the in-game UI currently doesn’t have a good way to show all of the possible stat rolls.   • Breaking down a masterwork should be guaranteed 3 cores at least. Getting one masterwork every three hours and having it break down into one core is frustrating. Biggest problem here is time investment versus rewards. I like to grind, but come on man.

  • Can I ask, what is this +5 or +10? Since we don't get actual numbers in game, it confuses me. Is it +5% because I'm actually confused (it always has confused me).

    • I hope it's clear that Mods and Perks are two different things. Stats are cool like a Origin Story with extra range but I REALLY want a Origin Story with something like Ambitious Assassin. I want to add Perks to my guns, just stats.

      • Love the communication and insight! I like the first part where the drop rates are addressed because masterworks seem to rain in my brothers game, but in mine I’ve only come across a few compared to his dozen or so odd. Also armor masterworks would be nice, looking forward to the changes!

      • Would love just unique weapons that can only be obtained from grinding certain activities. (Chest or drops after crucible) that have specific perks for those activities like orb creation for strikes, addiontal calus damage , increased stability after a crucible kill. This would entice the player to grind out various activities but also put stuff out there beyond masterworks to grind for through those activities. Same with armour. Stuff that’s specific for activities. And plz god. Single shader for the whole outfit. And don’t charge us to change out. It’s more annoying than fun.

      • Masterwork Armor. What if the perks were added like bonus defense against Fallen, Taken, Vex, Cabal? Bonus mobility in Strikes or Crucible?

      • They need to drop WAY more often to even be relevant. Got 3 since release and all 3 were garbage Sidearms, Pulse and Scout... so I dismantled them for 3 cores but it takes 10 to make a current weapon one? Yeah that's mind numbingly slow progression.

        Impact stat for sniper rifle would have been good, capped at 95% max impact.

          • My feedback is do everything you listed above. It all looks like great ideas. I'd love to be able to set my armor stats however I like. Looking good is important and if I can be optimized while looking spectacular then I just won the game.

          • Any chance that you guys are working on making the mobility stat more impactful? ie Sprint speed.

          • Masterwork armor should have perks like D1... Arms give you increased melee speed, boots let you carry more heavy ammo and so on

          • Please tell me two things... 1. What do those +5 and +10 mean? Is that a %, add to base stat (yeah right), etc. Please explain. Your +10 magazine for scout rifles adds 1 bullet. If it were a % than it would be 2 bullets (17 + 1.7 = 18.7 or 19). So if that's not it, please tell us what they mean. 2. What happens to something with a masterwork that's already showing 100? For example, blast radius on Sins of the Past or impact on Wizened Rebuke?

          • What I would like to see are boosts on masterwork armor and/or mods that affect ability recharge other than super (grenades and melees). Something like grenade/melee charge on minion of darkness kills. I know you guys love the plodding Halo PvP and we don’t have to change it (even though everyone kinda thinks it’s boring and not fun), but it would be really cool if in PvE we could just boost the Space Magic right back up to D1 levels. And while you’re at it, no offsetting nerfs. Just make our guardians great again.

            Scrap the whole idea. I'm good with the +5 or 10 bonus. But orb generation should just be a random perk. Give us at least one random perk column for masterworks!?!?! #amiright the random perks were all of the fun of d1.

            • I say leave Masterworks the way they are. They're a pretty decent grind right now and something to actually strive for- making masterworks easier to get and/or giving us activities that give guaranteed masterworks is only going to kill the grind a million times faster, and then you're back to the same problem of "What am I playing for?" for end-game players.
