Player Feedback: Masterworks and Modifications

Since the release of [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/Update/46536]Destiny 2 Update 1.1.1.1[/url], we’ve been monitoring player feedback concerning the Masterworks. We’d like to give you a list of items that’s on our list to address. We don’t have a specific date for when these changes would take place, but we’d like to give insight as to what teams at Bungie are aiming to accomplish: [b]Player acquisition:[/b][quote]• We’re implementing a new mechanism that we can use to limit long dry spells in Masterwork drops due to bad RNG. • We will also be looking at adding some guaranteed sources of Masterworks, but we are working on a broader plan to improve prestige activity rewards and it might wait until then. • We’re watching overall drop rates and usage over the holiday and will adjust drop rates and material costs as needed.[/quote] [b]Masterwork Inventory Management[/b] [quote]• We’re planning a fix for Masterwork Cores not going to your postmaster if you’re full on Consumables. • To help prevent accidental loss of Masterwork Cores, we're extending the dismantle timer to give players a larger window to stop the process.[/quote] [b]Stat Bonuses[/b] [quote]• Right now, the stat bonuses are small tweaks intended for players who want to optimize very deeply. We’re watching feedback and are excited to adjust or add more stat bonuses in the future. Once we have more information, we’ll share our plans with you.[/quote] Additionally, the in-game UI currently doesn’t have a good way to show all of the possible stat rolls.   • Sorry but could you please explain what these stat bonuses mean. As an example I have a scout with the masterwork stat bonus +10 Magazine. Without the masterwork stat bonus 16 bullets. With the masterwork stat bonus 16 bullets. Thanks in advance. Have fun and may RNG be forever in your favor.

      • Small tweaks intended for players who want to optimise deeply. Not a sentence that makes any sense. Bring back random rolls and decent perks. It's the only thing that can save you now.

        • Since you decided to do stats instead of perks, you need to crank up the amplitude of the boost. I am talking like 5-10 times the “boost” you put in right now. Make the masterworks actually matter. The orbs are kinda cool, but the guns all lack any identity or punch. This is your chance to add that. Thanks for extending the olive branch.

              • This mechanic is great but needs variety in stats. - Charge time for Fusions. Prestige Masterworks for Raids Nightfall Trials where a sub stat of attack or any of the others. This would affect light I guess unless it could be for Crits only. Precision. Add requirements for Prestige Masterwork items. Strike specific loot, when it comes, ( don't know with all the updates and fixes you had that in 1 that 2 would be like a giant add on again I feel like I'm a beta tester for the regular monetary consumer and a stat number...which I am but I had to pay for it. We do the shiz game testers get paid for. Anyway....) I think strike loot should have Masterwork and Prestige Masterwork, Supreme Masterwork, Ultimate Masterwork, whatever you wanna call it, I just thought the idea added flavor and replay value, could drop from them on the nightfall rotation. I think Banshee should sell cores. I definitely agree shaders should be vendor specific and taken from Eververse. I agree with Rifle Gaming atm about the state of this game. Definitely armor masterworks. Grenade Duration for arms. Melee Range. Boosts in Defense and Recovery. Mobility. Maybe with the idea of Prestige Masterwork it could have a perk like an added dodge, duration for Stormcallers spark companion. Added strength and damage on titans shields. Plenty of armor options but we need exotic mods. That add depth to this simplified skill tree. I want to see fights get more interesting and less linear. Anyways that's my input. Keep up the good work live team. You're this games only hope for some revival and texture to this vast beautiful yet empty and receptive galaxy. To the rest I appreciate your work but I believe revenue has been enough to put out Halo length content, memorable weapons, armor, stats, enemies, environments, and this is my top request, 8v8 ship battles. Then PVE space missions. Or like with the dreadnaught or the City in the beginning of D2, there's already scenes of ship battles, yet we do have sparrow racing...Bungie I had to fly many ships in Halo. This would be a killer mode to break monotony and add more to get to upgrade and mod your ship. <<<This man would be a game changer.

              • I would love to have some special benefit (masterwork+) when you have a complete armor set. For example a complete Gensym armor set when equipped, can give additional 5 to 10 percent increase in Glimmer or XP (stackable with Ghost perks) when doing a strike or patrol on Io. I enjoy leveling up, but always seem to be low in glimmer. In any case, I'm enjoying the lastest direction and look forward towards future updates. Thanks!

              • Its a step in the right direction but the master work stat that increases ammo only gives one bullet. Auto rifles should get like 10 bullets, scouts about 5 bullets don't be afraid to go all out.

              • Increase the perks and give us more options, and at least double the perk, cause 1 Bullet or 5% increase in stat isn’t doing much at all. Make masterworks hard to get, I like the way it is atm, you don’t want it to be easy and everyone to have one, the grind is back and it’s good but just make it worth it. You give us better perks and more in the perks and everyone will be grinding! Also add 6v6 / 8v8 / 12/12 and 4v4v4 in private matches next year and see how popular the modes are and then implement the most popular ones, sick of having to run with 3 others and team shoot every time, so boring. In D1 u could run solo and u could take on 1-3 people if u needed to.

                Good to hear this stuff. Mods could really be expanded quite a bit and make the equipment much more customizable. You have only scratched the surface with Masterworks and I can’t wait to see what you do with them. AND THANK YOU FOR THE COMMUNICATION, IT’S SUPER IMPORTANT!

                • Not sure what the viability of something like this would be, but it would be neat to see the orb drops from Masterwork Power weapons deliver more super energy than those that drop from Kinetic and Energy weapons. With those it makes sense because you can get a lot of rapid orb drops. The pace of Power weapon multi-kills tends to be slower, though, and its possible to go longer without picking up Power ammo in a lot of cases. Another fun idea that would reward high-skilled play is to have the orb size increase over time as you chain back-to-back multi-kills. That idea is more fanciful, though, and likely unnecessary.

                • With regards to armor masterworks, why not add an extra masterwork slot to raid and trials sets? Perks that are exclusive to their respective activities, like the perks from D1 raid sets, except they can be selected just like the current weapon options. For example, the raid perk options could correspond to the roles found in each encounter, i.e. the raid helm could have masterworks that buff players either in the shadow realm or the throne room. Make it free to switch between them, just like the current stat buffs. Require an achievement to unlock them like the new ornaments, e.g. "Deliver the killing blow to 5 elite war hounds onboard the Leviathan," "Obtain 500 stacks (cumulatively) of Force of Will before defeating Calus."

                  Glad to know that armor is getting masterwork added to them as well, they could use a lot more to them. Also yeah, I think adding more to the weapon stat bonuses would be very appreciated because yes the orb generation is really nice, but the stat increases seem too little.

                • Making Trials of the Nine and Raid weapons guaranteed Masterwork Drops would be a good way to supply Players with a source of Masterwork Weapons. They are good end-game sources, and honestly it's quite dissatifying to have a weapon drop in a Raid, and then it is not a Masterwork. They are, after all, gear from the most difficult activities. Forged by the Nine and Emperor Calus. Those have to be Masterworks.
