I think we're stuck with the current weapon system until at least a year.....and probably until Destiny 3. Its just baked too deep into the game. But if they were to change things around. I'm in favor of the changes that Say No to Rage has been advocating for. 1. Merge the Energy and Kinetic slots. IOW, give us back D1 elemental primaries. 2. Move shotguns and snipers out of the Power slot, and move them into the what used to be the Energy slot...and regulate their ammo economy like you did special weapons in the D1 Crucible. 3. Leave everything else: Swords, Grenade Launchers, Fusion Rifles and rocket launchers in the Power slot....but give everything but rockets and swords a MAJOR buff. so that there is a reason to use them. He thinks---and I agree---that this would solve both the current problems in pvp and pve. 1. It would increase PVE DPS output. You can now carry three elemental weaons (Prism) and you now can carry two high burst damage weapons, that will make end-game content less obnoxious. Because you're better equipped to deal with timers, and super-tanky-yet-agile enemies. (IOW, you can complete Prestiege content without having keep wiping to get power ammo). 2. It would give you options to break up the team shooting that has made game play in the Crucible so stale and predictable right. With access to OHK weapons in the second slot, camping in the corner of the map and team shooting all the avenues of approach will become a less effective strategy. Because they now have to be wary of getting sniped down long sight lines. or flanked, rushed...and team wiped by someone in their midsts with a shotgun. This would make the game play individually more dynamic, less predictable...and FORCE teams to move if they want to stay alive. Because right now the team-camping strategy is a SUPER low-risk play style in any game mode where there is no objective to force people to not do it.

  • I hate to say it, but kinetics other than Mida are outright useless compared to Better Devils and Nameless Midnight. I say just get rid of Kinetic entirely. They only help on ads, but anything yellow bar and they suck drastically.. That’s not productive, and it’s purposefully limiting the potential damage everyone can do. Other games have it to where you can yield 2 elemental weaponry that are both strong, and a powerful weapon that is meant for putting the hammer down. I feel with this game, because they appealed likely to the little kids that played, made it a ton worse.

IDK about merging energy and kinetic weapons altogheter... The core of the current system is all about: Energy = shield breaking weapons; Kinetic = finishing and killing enemies. Hence why I think snipers should be Kinetic. Plus, the concept of elemental sniper rifles is kinda dumb :p. They're basically going against the rules of their own system with that. I don't really think Bungie would even come close to do such an extreme rework (above). Though, you've made a great point in #2. PVP is currently boring and way too predictable. If the sniper rifle usage was increased on it - by swapping them out of the power slot - that'd be pretty much fixed, since yeah, players would have to *think* about where are they walking for, and not just stay in a mindless crowd of jumping people. It's really ridiculous that snipers require some bullshit "special ammo" to work. They really shouldn't as "bonus weapon", since they actually require skill to work (unlike rocket launchers and swords). Plus, yeah, all power weapons, except for rocket launchers, definitely need buffing. They're just useless right now... Specially in pvp (maybe not swords, but all of the rest). I mean, fusion rifles are a -blam!-ing joke in pvp, they should AT LEAST kill a player in 2 hits, and not in FOUR.. this just pure garbage.

  • Sorry about the double post, but your post required a more thoughtful reply than I had time to give. Snipers require skill----to get a OHK. But even the world's worst sniper can dominate a huge amount of real estate, and lockdown movement around the map. Multiple snipers can actually paralyze a game, and prevent ANY significant movement (which used to happen frequently in D1's Crucible). So they need to be restricted....but not as severely as Bungie has done for this game. Because they also serve an important role in creating RISK for campy players, or teams that roll around the map in a death-ball.

  • If you put snipers in the kinetic slot, then you're back to the problems of D1. People using OHK weapons as their "primary" in PVP....in a weapon system where the TTK for multishot weapons isn't tuned to allow for the maintenance of balance. What you're asking for there will break the game unless the Sandbox team is willing to allow the other kinetic weapons to kill MUCH faster. ...and they have never been willing to do that so far in the history of the game. Every change ahs been oriented towards slower and slower killing weapons.

  • Of course they'd have to be nerfed, since their ammo ammount would basically triplicate (and so would their usability). Their damage should be obviously reduced to kill off a player with maybe 2 or 3 hits. Since 1 shoot usually comes quite long after the other, that should give their targets a fair amount of time to relocate.

  • Then you'd basically be turning them into high impact scout rifles.

  • A lot of games have sniper rifles like that on pvp. Take OW for example...

  • But they don’t have semi-auto battle rifles also.

  • They're far from killing players with 2 HS.
