It was a requirement to graduate high school, in the state of Arizona, to take an American government course.
But I don't think a political course would help these people. They need a critical thinking course

Edited by Samantha: 12/13/2017 11:49:26 PMCritical thinking classes would be nice in a vacuum, but critical thinking can't be taught.

I'm surprised that you're saying critical thinking can't be taught.
-
I'm not sure I follow. You learn the basics of critical thinking as a child. You can be taught then -- I wasn't clear on that in my first post. But once you're an adult and more or less set in your ways, learning things that directly involve your intelligence level is very hard if such intelligence hasn't been cultivated throughout your childhood. JMO, though, from what I've seen.

I have always assumed it was like any other skill; you can be trained to do it. But I guess maybe you're right, maybe some people simply are too far gone to learn to think properly. Damn that's a depressing thought.

Can anyone here say "irony?"
-
You're silly

You know you're not exactly the first person I think of when it comes to critical thinking though, right?
-
Awwww, you look so cute when you try so hard to get your point across!

Edited by Stickman Al: 12/14/2017 3:41:23 PMRemember I only have to try hard when the person I'm talking to is not very quick on the uptake ;)

Or when they just don't care.....but you wouldn't have thought of that. You're trying to "win" something here

Believe me, there's nothing I will gain from conversing with you. Anything I say to you is for your benefit not mine.

Says the one whom started the convo.....

If by "starting a conversation" you mean that I responded to something you said, then sure, I started the conversation. I swear you live in your own version of reality.
