The playerbase is already shriveled up to almost nothing, now you have a DLC paywall separating the players that are left. Nobody is buying it, more players of the base game will leave since you've removed content and DLC players are going to walk away in a week when they get tired of walking around MERCURY!. Not to mention your PR is in ruins
Give this DLC away, get millions of players back, fix your sandbox and maybe there will be players left when you want to sell your 3rd expansion.

They need to just bring back all the advances they did in D1 that made the game great and then the player population would come back. If destiny survives D2 and they make a D3, I will definitely not be purchasing that game until some serious reviews have come out after releasing.
-
I’m only in it for the PvE content right now. Which is more than most people can say. The only reason I play PvP is because I find it slightly more entertaining than doing strikes for the forge weapons. Bungie is giving us the only reason to do more public events, strikes, and PvP.

What Entitlement?!?

For Bungie this would be an admission that the product they are selling isn't worth the price of admission. If you've ever seen a room full of blamers you can probably picture what it's like at Bungie at the moment. No-one in the room is going to admit to having done anything wrong until finally the man or woman at the top opens their dark evil eyes and focuses them on a target. That will be the fall person. Everything currently wrong with the game will be that person's fault. Once that's done they'll then tell those still standing to fix the issue and close their eyes once more. So how can this be fixed? Well suprisingly I agree with the OP to some extent. As radical as this is the reality is that it's going to take something dramatic to save the franchise. Something bold and un-expected. Here is what I would do:- 1. I would indeed simply release DLC 1 and 2 as free and roll the season pass forwards for anyone who bought it. Those people would get the next two paid DLC for free. A free EXCLUSIVE TO THEM ALONE exotic as a thanks for sticking by us, with a (money grab because corporate expect you to at least try) good will offer that anyone who buys the DLC between now and DLC 2 also getting the exclusives and the carry forward offer. 2. Make it a promise between Bungie and the community that you'll never be locked out of content from a previous DLC when a new one drops. You'll never be level and power locked when an expansion drops. You will not get the paid DLC levels and story but, you will not be left behind and can still play all of the old content at the same power as your DLC owning friends. This would enable you to move up to a DLC no penalty except grinding for the DLC exclusive gear. 3. Transition to supporting the game via eververse! Yes you read that right. But, hold your pitchforks! By this I mean actually keeping the current engram grind system in place but, allowing quicker obtaining of the items via silver. Then use that money (part of it anyway) to actually provide free and substantial regular updates. New story missions and Levels every 3 months and new gear and cosmetics on a montly basis. Be that a new exotic weapon, new exotic emotes, ghosts, ships etc. etc. A new forge weapon. Basically make the game an ongoing service! One change that I'm putting the fireproof suit on for is that I WOULD add a "Gift of the 9" engram to eververse. Description reads "Not sure where Fenchurch got this but, he seems to have friends in...well etherial kind of non-describable places". The engram would cost a whopping 20 dollars but contain all exotics for that update. That's guns, armour and at least one totally exclusive to the engram cosmetic exotic. The sale of these will directly be to fund the free content drops. All of the exotics will be RNG-able through normal gameplay but, at D1 drop levels (not Gally RNG as that's too severe) so that it will take weeks to get them through gameplay. This is fair to both the players who want to fund the game and don't have time to play 24-7 and to those who want to play 24-7 but, can't afford or simply don't want to pay real money. Ok I'm tied to the stake so light-er-up as I know my ideas are radical for most.

Im huge destiny fan, but this was embarrassingly small DLC.. did NOT feel like an expansion. Hell, even the campaign had to take u to the same other planets since not enough to do on mercury.
-
I've always found this outrageous and stupid. Level/Light Level should be tied to the QoL updates that we get everything DLC, not to the DLC itself. Pure greed from Bungie/Activision.
-
Yeah, Bungovision is gonna give this away for free and refund us. Yeah, that's gonna happen. NIAWYC, this stuff is the same kinda shit we went thru in D1 (some will argue that it's worse now since so much content is behind bright engrams). But locking away what little endgame content there was behind the DLC paywall is such massive bullshit to anyone sitting the DLC out. I wasn't around in D1 Y!, but did Dark Below or HoW pull that kinda shit with the OG raids?
-
I do admit. While I am not completely against the game, this is quite the shit show. Even if it's just a moment to address the justifications of their actions thus far, I'd like them to do something, anything. Silence may be golden, but golden is very -blam!-ing weak.
-
SIGH Its Mercury....not Mars.... New content is pretty dope....for fifteen bucks its a no brainer.
-
Its to late for that. Playerbase is so far gone the only things that can save this game is 1. The return of random rolls (endgame) 2. A full on apology from Bungie (not a "blog post of nothing") 3. Actual future changes not empty promises 4. Real community communication (can't say "we will do better" and still not say a word) Maby than destiny can go on life support ave have a chance

I received a FULL refund 3 weeks ago. It's not too late. Play Warframe, it's better, and free!
-
Nah dont give it away. Just add an offering for a special "Forum User Edition" that comes bundled with a diaper, bottle, and a code to redeem a limited edition ship 'The Waambulance' for all the crybabies on here.
-
even though I was one of the unlucky -blam!-s to buy the stupid $100 bs. Should give the DLC out for free for everyone. Even if I dont get a refund. It just aint right to think about all the people everyday that go and buy it not knowing how incredibly shit it really is then realize there is no turning back
-
I am enjoying this game just fine so go get your redund and leave us alone.
-
Mars lol
-
I made a post on here, for people who want to share ideas, opinions, feedback that bungie see and possibly make changes to the game for the better. this is completely optional but highly appreciated.

Agree. Look at other games. Division and more. Bungie should be ashamed of themselves and are crooks
-
Yeah, refund my season pass. Please
-
no that's terrible mabey they should give this dlc free then sell the next one to ppl who didnt buy the dlc ill quit before paying for disappointment again
-
Season pass should cover the two major expansions. These two DLCs are essentially the rest of the game. Hell, not even Ubisoft charged for the first two DLCs of thr Division which came out around the same timeframe relative to the initial release.

Imagine going into a store and buying a candy bar, then eating it and going back to the store and asking for a refund. How about No? Sadly you can't get a refund in most cases unless your metaphorical candy bar is literal shit and even then most people won't give you a refund. You bought a shit dlc. Yes I agree it was very short and kind of pointless but it is what it is.
