Some interesting math on exp and bright engram content drop rates

As everyone knows CoO drops on december 5th 2017, and on this drop all previous bright engram contents will be replaced. Well, this past week, before the CoO reset, I've been grinding my blam off doing heroic public events just to get the last piece of Optimacy gear I needed to complete my collection. With that said I'd just like to tell you how long it took me, how much experience I earned, the amount of brights I got, and how many heroic events I completed. I think its quite interesting. First, I started on Tuesday and ended on Sunday. Approximately 6.5 hours per day (I have no life, I know.) Which equates to 39 hours across the week. Second, before I started grinding this week, I had 150 heroic PEs, now that I'm done I have 487 completed (337 this week). My average experience gained every HPE was 3,300, multiply that by the 337 HPEs, and you get 1,112,100 XP earned this week. 1,112,100/160,000=7 bright engrams earned. That's how long and how much I put into just one piece of armor. :/

    • This is probably why people should treat bright engrams as an after thought. Or else you go mad just grinding exp for something as simple as cosmetics. Just play the game, you'll be stacked on bright engrams and bright dust in no time. As for bright engrams, i think it's pretty easy earning 9 bright engrams due to the "well rested "modifier. That's assuming you have 3 characters.

This is exactly what Bungie was trying to prevent. Instead of grinding for everything in a week, you log in every day and get everything that way. If you don't, you can purchase stuff as well (which is incidental, because XP giving you great rewards is better then Motes of Light like D1). You should have easily been able to get all the Opimacy gear over the course of Season 1.
