I agree with most of what you've said, except the "too generous/too easy to get 300s" bit. One for flashpoints, one for call to arms. That's it. That is all of it. For solo/small group players (like me) that is literally IT for the entire week. Five public events, a handful of Crucible matches, maybe two hours tops and then there is absolutely ZERO reason for me to pick up the game again for the rest of the week. Zilch. Zero. Nada.Everything else won't give me anything above 296. I have never once stepped foot in Trials of the Nine, I only ever bothered to attempt Trials of Osiris twice in the entire three year period of D1 and seeing as the only "victories" I ever enjoyed were purchased with passage coins before the first match even started, I had absolutely no reason to waste my time with it then, and even less reason to bother with the D2 version now. Never been a fan of PvP to begin with, much less the sweaty, douchebag-ridden, frequently hacked cesspool that is Trials. And Raids? Outside of Youtube I've never even SEEN the Leviathan raid. I have a clan. We have Guided Games. But I have absolutely no motivation to bother with a 2-5 hour activity that will yield nothing but hot garbage. And you've already addressed why that is. The complete and utter lack of any kind of unique raid armor perks. They're no different than the armor I can get from patrols except aesthetically, and their aesthetics don't even appeal to me. You said if we went back to where D1 let off, we'd be in a good place, and I completely agree. And you know why things were so great in the final days of D1? EVERY crucible match had the potential to grant cap gear. EVERY strike, with the use of Cache keys, had the potential to grant cap gear. Every time you ranked up with ANY vendor/faction, we could get cap gear. And the absolute BEST part of D1 that was inexplicably left behind? Absolutely ANY primary could be upgraded with absolutely ANY other primary, so even if D1's RNG tried to bury me in useless bullet-hose Auto Rifles (and it did, it absolutely did) I could still use those otherwise worthless pieces of garbage to upgrade my Scout Rifles and Hand Cannons. The endless onslaught of fusion rifles kept my shotguns and sniper rifles at their peak. But in D2 players aren't given any options. We don't get to pick what weapons we like and upgrade them to stay relevant. We have to use what RNG gives us, and 99% of the time that means utter garbage. 99% of the time all I get is everything I NEVER use and have no desire to use. But I have to waste inventory space and put myself at a constant disadvantage USING this garbage that I hate because it's the strongest gear RNG will give me. Fixed roll weapons, homogenized armor, 2-path only subclasses. upgrade potential reliant on a bastard of an RNG system. D2 has taken ALL power of choice and customization away from the player. The one and only area we still have some "freedom" is the individual-selection Shader system, and they ruined that by making it not only require consumable shaders but it's an unbridled Glimmer pit (why the -blam!- does it cost 15,000 to put a shader on a ship?!) that serves absolutely no actual function except "I look good" and brutally punishes those who like to change their look for time to time. What once was a simple one-click function is now an ordeal that will cost thousands of glimmer and can only be done as often as you actually have the necessary consumables in stock.
