Here are my thoughts.
The player investment is really suffering from the removal and simplifying of d1s systems and mechanics. If d2 can get back to were d1 left off we are back to a good place. This game has huge potential it’s so sad not to see it met .
What I want to see
*subclass recharge is still too slow, increase charge earned from kills. This would make pve more fun and only slightly change pvp. It is a space magic game after all.
*Primary, special, heavy. Make side arms primary and grenade launchers special.
*nightfall timer . Yes this adds an extra level of challenge but it makes the experience way less fun . Keep the timer as a bonus achievement . I.e if you beat the timer you get double xp for example . Kicking people out for not beating the timer is just needlessly frustrating . It’s not going to encourage new players to try it either in my opinion .
*return to random rolls. However vanguard, crucible , trials and raid can all stay fixed. Anything outside of that could be random. Maybe limiting the perk pool might reduce super weapons .
*mod system . If random rolls are off the table then make the mod system viable . Add mod slots to weapons and armour, this is how we make things unique or cater to our own play style .
*useful vendors, at the moment they are just slot machines effectively . Give them the old style rank up back an inventory of things to sell. Maybe make the items for sale sale only not rank up drops .
*shaders, the new system is just really poor, there has to be a better way to manage this surely ? Firstly not even enough space for them all, secondly single use was just poor planning . Group deletion would help if it’s staying like this .
*titans having 2 grenades as part of the perk tree is terrible design and totally unbalanced. This should be an exotic perk like armitarium from d1
*new exotics . Some are great , Orpheus rig, some are useless lucky pants . Weapon based exotics are not great overall. The only exception is the Titan war rig that’s where you’ve got it right .
*old exotics. I’m fine with returning stuff , however changing the perks on them is just lazy, either make something new OR do something within the lore like siva infection to justify the changes . It’s just lazy Re skins as is now .
*the new perk tree system should have launched with 3 paths for each subclass. Example , a death from above path for striker, a hunger path for void walker . This would at least increase the variation .
*rewards in general, the game feels too generous In a way . There are so many opportunity’s to earn 300 engrams . It’s great having the new clan system but the amount of rewards seem over the top honestly .
*raids need drops not tokens , that’s where the sense of achievement comes from not tokens to get the same weapon over and over .
*useful perks on raid gear? At a even the must uninspired level how about plus 10% damage on cabal enemies?
*i preferred bounties, just my preference .
*gunsmith test weapons? Unique gunsmith rewards for completing them like d1. Again this was something totally basic that was removed .
*milestones, so uninspired it’s depressing. Literally getting a 300 engrams for 5 public events is just poor, same for crucible . D1 had so much variation in the weekly bounties AND they rotated each week. Why has this been regressed after being sold to us as ‘rituals’.
*bright engrams , I don’t really have a problem with them to be honest , it doesn’t represent pay to play in my opinion . However bungies handling of it was as usual totally off the mark . To find now the xp requirement has doubled is just a big screw you to the players who actually invested time in it . I firmly believe if bungie wasn’t outed by the gaming media it would still be active right now . This is the kind of thing that destroys consumer confidence in a brand .
I could go on but I feel like these are all things for consideration, I think most players would agree with the majority of my points.
Thanks

I agree with most of what you've said, except the "too generous/too easy to get 300s" bit. One for flashpoints, one for call to arms. That's it. That is all of it. For solo/small group players (like me) that is literally IT for the entire week. Five public events, a handful of Crucible matches, maybe two hours tops and then there is absolutely ZERO reason for me to pick up the game again for the rest of the week. Zilch. Zero. Nada.Everything else won't give me anything above 296. I have never once stepped foot in Trials of the Nine, I only ever bothered to attempt Trials of Osiris twice in the entire three year period of D1 and seeing as the only "victories" I ever enjoyed were purchased with passage coins before the first match even started, I had absolutely no reason to waste my time with it then, and even less reason to bother with the D2 version now. Never been a fan of PvP to begin with, much less the sweaty, douchebag-ridden, frequently hacked cesspool that is Trials. And Raids? Outside of Youtube I've never even SEEN the Leviathan raid. I have a clan. We have Guided Games. But I have absolutely no motivation to bother with a 2-5 hour activity that will yield nothing but hot garbage. And you've already addressed why that is. The complete and utter lack of any kind of unique raid armor perks. They're no different than the armor I can get from patrols except aesthetically, and their aesthetics don't even appeal to me. You said if we went back to where D1 let off, we'd be in a good place, and I completely agree. And you know why things were so great in the final days of D1? EVERY crucible match had the potential to grant cap gear. EVERY strike, with the use of Cache keys, had the potential to grant cap gear. Every time you ranked up with ANY vendor/faction, we could get cap gear. And the absolute BEST part of D1 that was inexplicably left behind? Absolutely ANY primary could be upgraded with absolutely ANY other primary, so even if D1's RNG tried to bury me in useless bullet-hose Auto Rifles (and it did, it absolutely did) I could still use those otherwise worthless pieces of garbage to upgrade my Scout Rifles and Hand Cannons. The endless onslaught of fusion rifles kept my shotguns and sniper rifles at their peak. But in D2 players aren't given any options. We don't get to pick what weapons we like and upgrade them to stay relevant. We have to use what RNG gives us, and 99% of the time that means utter garbage. 99% of the time all I get is everything I NEVER use and have no desire to use. But I have to waste inventory space and put myself at a constant disadvantage USING this garbage that I hate because it's the strongest gear RNG will give me. Fixed roll weapons, homogenized armor, 2-path only subclasses. upgrade potential reliant on a bastard of an RNG system. D2 has taken ALL power of choice and customization away from the player. The one and only area we still have some "freedom" is the individual-selection Shader system, and they ruined that by making it not only require consumable shaders but it's an unbridled Glimmer pit (why the -blam!- does it cost 15,000 to put a shader on a ship?!) that serves absolutely no actual function except "I look good" and brutally punishes those who like to change their look for time to time. What once was a simple one-click function is now an ordeal that will cost thousands of glimmer and can only be done as often as you actually have the necessary consumables in stock.

Agreed

What I am waiting for since d1 are SETEFFECTS for raid gear (or probably on really rare seasonal loot, like iron banner stuff). As an example, you wear 4 or 5 armor pieces of the current leviathan set you get (honestly for me it's not even necessary to get something good BUT atleast something) something like 10% more cabal dmg, or 5% more dmg on headshots, whatever, even a 10% more movement speed would make it worth to GRIND for a full raid set.
-
with the return of random roles it should be a hybrid of fixed weapon roles and random roles and that would be random fixed perk roles i.e the better devils has 12 fixed perk roles (i'm including the one in the game as part of the 12) 4 are optimized for PVE; 4 are optimized for PVP; and 4 are optimized for both PVP and PVE. that would extend the grind/ endgame grind of destiny 2

Agree with pretty much all except: random rolls (Like how weapons are the way now, personal preference completely) and titan double nades (hunters have smoke and regular nades/warlocks have the instant health regeneration (devour, basically OP also). I feel that evens things out. However, you have a great list and you hit the nail perfectly in terms of the nightfall timer changes. I 200% agree with you there, as I used to love doing the nightfall back in D1 without feeling rushed.
-
Whole heartedly feel the same. I'll stand and be counted on this opinion. I will avoid repetition and not babble on, but i feel i have to say how my clan and i played D1 almost every night. In D2 i cant muster the effort to play past tuesday reset let alone motivate my friends who gave up months ago. Fingers crossed. Damb i babbled lol.

agree with the majority of ths

Don't forget the archaic "Find Fireteam" invite system, which is especially horrible on PC. As it stands, it's the single most cumbersome and unintuitive system I've ever encountered in an online game. Group building/searching needs to be integrated into the game, not part of some glorified forum.
-
Yes guided games needs some work for sure , only yesterday I became an oath breaker because the nightfall was bugged ......again . So couldn’t complete because I was on the oath breakers naughty step . Being punished is fine , being punished for a bug that stops a door opening makes me pretty mad honestly .

I agree with just about everything you said. I've been saying this for a while now but D2 should be making improvements around an already great game. But what Bungie has done is stripped away almost everything good from D1 and are now probably regretting it so they will start to slowly add those things back. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for this game to have all of the stuff from D1 but that is something that the game should have started with and not something that they now need to focus all of their energy on just to have a half decent game. This time would've been so much better spent adding new things to do. I don't have a lot of hope for this blog that they are going to post today. I think they are going to focus too heavily on the most recent XP issue and try to use that to distract us from the other major problems with the game. This isn't even a huge issue but why would they take away the ability for us to see what level our different vendors are? It doesn't make sense to me that they would just for some reason think that this was a necessary change. As it stands, D2 is not a sequel to D1 but a crappy knock-off. It doesn't even feel like I'm playing a game made by the same developers. I can genuinely say that there is nothing I enjoy about D2 in its current state. Sure the gun play feels nice but I have no drive to go around shooting aliens that have a crappier AI than Halo 3 which is 10 years old now! I also have no drive to shoot at people in the crucible because there is no point to playing it. There is no sense of accomplishment for playing extremely well.

Well we will wait and see what comes out in the blog post. It’s good to see that across the board everybody who has commented is near enough on the same page . Let’s see how close this list is to what they tell us .
-
I really want them to do a really good job with this blog post and the game as a whole. But, I'm concerned that they are just going to disappoint us again, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I will either be pleasantly surprised or get exactly what I expected. Praying for the former.
-
Given recent form it could go either way at this point . I want the game to be good so I really hope they make some positive steps .
-
Me too. Me too.
-
Well said. i am in Bungies corner and hope they can fix some of these things short term and most of them long term.

*rewards in general, the game feels too generous In a way . There are so many opportunity’s to earn 300 engrams . It’s great having the new clan system but the amount of rewards seem over the top honestly . [/quote] I literally agree with everything you said except rewards. The rewards need to be more rewarding. 300 Engrams aren't the problem. Look at trials..... how many teams are using the same variations of Weapons (a couple of auto rifles, a couple of scout rifles, couple of rocket launchers) to mix and match loadouts. I never thought I would miss the days of shotgun wielding titans running around the map but there were ways to counter it. Grenades were stronger, supers were more effective, and there were stronger, more effective weapons. The path to 300 was fine, the weapons are bland. Why are people using nameless midnight? Range and time to kill. Why is Mida so popular? Range, time to kill, and how many ways can you get the 3rd eye perk? Is there any must have armor set? No. it's in the mods. How many exotics have the same bland perks? Regenerate grenade energy or ability energy or increase movement speed. I've got a couple of things to add to the list of things that need to be either tweaked, calibrated, fixed or redesigned: - Calibrate grenade damage. A sticky grenade that sticks to someone should kill them no matter how high their Resilience. A tripmine grenade should kill a person who is close enough to trip it. Scatter, arc bolt, and firebolt grenades should be deadly. - Make the armor unique. Armor should have a benefit that is unique and useful to that environment. Each planet should have a different perk and lend itself to a different situation. Same with crucible, iron banner, raid armor and that crap armor from bright Engrams. Give people a reason to chase whole sets and reasons to do adventures....
-
Here’s an idea that might blow your mind .., Bring back the d1 raid exotics as world quest rewards. I.e outbreak from earth or maybe Nessus. Necro from titan , mythoclast from mercury . These were awesome weapons and fun to use, also tons of d1 players probably never got to use them .
-
Edited by Cougs_Rule: 11/29/2017 5:20:31 PMWell said. This is exactly what the community is looking for. Maybe if they're keeping the mod system add exotic mods to really grind for.

I agree with most of that, except the fixed drops from high level content. What needs to happen is random rolls from that content, because most of the gear is unwearable as a titan. I know hunter has this issue as well, because high mobility is terrible. They focused so much on making these stats count, and made it impossible for everyone but warlock to get high recovery, which is currently the king stat. The other thing that should happen is, people shouldn't be able to reach max light without doing high level content, they just shouldn't. 300-305 LL/PL gear should be obtainable through normal high level content, I.e Nightfalls, Raids, Trials wins, etc. Then, prestige nightfalls, prestige raids, 7 win trials or possibly flawless trials, should give 310 LL/PL gear. What change does it make other than rewarding those for doing harder content? This content NEEDS incentive and that will surely give it. I also think there needs to be some strike specific loot, they have so many gun models and armor models for blues and other weapons, that they just don't use, and a lot of the guns just seem like reskins with a different color scheme.
-
Honestly a good list and i dont feel its negative at all. i dont agree with the "too many ways to get 300 engrams" but a good list.
-
The most frustrating change they made in my opinion has been the change of the weapons system. Instead of having to build YOUR character's play style they gave people the opportunity to ruin it by having two primaries and a heavy instead of a primary, secondary, and heavy. I miss having to decide whether you use a pulse, auto, or scout rifle in your build. Or if you wanted to go for being longer range with a sniper or more cqb and have a shotgun as a secondary. It just feels wrong to have more options for choices, but in making that change, they reduced the customization and overall options because PvP now dictates the use of two primaries. I highly doubt the kill count for shotguns, sidearms, and snipers is as high as it should be in the Crucible
-
I guess a secondary issue is why use anything other than Mida, uriels and a rocket launcher. That’s the meta and I can’t see it changing anytime soon. Also, I have a question ....of all the weapons to bring back....mida ....really? A weapon that I recall becoming a big problem in d1 to the point it was nerfed. Surely bad juju might have been a better idea maybe as it has a practical use?
-
Mida never received a direct nerf, only high cal was nerfed and in turn, sniper flinch was increased (which means they never should have nerfed high cal outside of the pulse rifles/clever drag anyway). Mida was the best all around useful gun in pve and pvp. It being back is not an issue, the lack of ALL AROUND useful guns is an issue.
-
I believe it is all about getting comfortable with a weapon then just staying with it. i am still working my way to max lvl because i am an adult that works a minimum 40 hour week and parent that also demands some of my free time so in the climb as i receive a higher weapon i use it until i get something of equal lvl i like more or i get one that is higher. this has been kind of fun kind of frustrating there fore learning what works with every weapon type diversity is what Bungie is after trying to get ttk closer across the board so people that like different load outs can use them and still be effective. i have used many many different things in D2 as compaired to my three years in D1
