Caution, as someone who has helped contribute to the development of the Torque 3D engine over the past few years, I can tell you right now that your first comment is not accurate.
Key points:
1) Wrong, no system is "integral" except something directly related to the engine itself that would require a full re-do of the system, and even then, a larger expansion / title update can sort that out. As for the weapon loadout system, it's far from that, a simple database query can sort out putting the old system back in place (Look at their API, it's all JSON), and tuning the weapons back to D1 values would be nothing more than a statistical processing homework assignment passed off to the sandbox team.
2) This has been something the community yelled at Bungie for back in the beta as a bad idea, so a revert would be far from a backwards step. Players want more choice, not less. This is an RPG hybrid, there needs to be choice.
3) Again, database query. Old gear has had perks adjusted in the past, there is no reason to write this off as something that can be done, and rather easily.
4) The current pushback and player loss far outweigh that.
5) This is simply reverting back to how things worked in D1, if I want to play a certain mission again and again, I should not be time limited to do so.
Side Points:
1. D1 had two simple economies, motes and coins. Everything else was redundant, yes and I agree that these should not be brought forward, but simplifying it back to those two would be optimal instead of having these useless tokens everywhere.
2. Easy content for a major expansion (TTK Sized)
3. See above.
4. One new public event that is the "Most rewarding event ever" (sarc) hardly justifies as something new to do in patrol. I'm thinking new activities that are relevant at the endgame, something like heroic lost sectors, or something brand new that hasn't been seen yet.
5. Missing the point, we've had nothing but one endgame PvE activity now for the life of the game (minus PoE), where is the innovation?
8. Let's be serious here, this game is hardly "Complaining about the amount of story content" worthy, they need to start going bigger on their content updates if they want players to hang around.
Most people aren't looking for things to be simpler or streamlined, and definitely not in the favor of PvP, which your complaints against my major points clearly have me looking towards your personality as favoring. Deployment of updates are not as limited or far-fetched as you may believe them to be, but I think the huge thing to remember here is that this QA post is about the longer term, not something going to drop at CoO, which is why my major critical points are valid, and something I would need to see happen.
I absolutely understand for instance that loadouts won't change with CoO, but it's definitely something that can and should be done before the next DLC drop.
