Kaplan is the one who brought to the focus the fact devs can't communicate with the player base. He flat out said to people he can't ever open up and be honest and converse with the community because we more than other co somers tend to be pretty horrific people online to one another and especially to makers of games that may do something we didn't agree with.

  • LOL, if you don't want people To be angry, don't rip them off with a soulless money grab and if the criticism is too much for him maybe he should step down, there's plenty of other people out there who could do a better job for that type of money😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

  • I understand your argument, but I can't agree that that's a fact. There are enough examples of game devs being pretty vocal about the development process, while getting a mainly positive reaction from the player base (for example WoW, LoL, Star Citizen, aso). Although talking with such a frustrated community like D2s wouldn't be pleasant, imo saying anything would be better than just keeping quiet and not communicating at all.

Yeah it's a tough subject matter because unfortunately at all ends both us and the devs we all have to go on speculation and guessing how things pan out. It can be problematic though when one person ends up speaking for all. I actually feel bad last week for the poor community team member at EA who tried to explain (admittedly using a less than stellar choice of words) about how the characters where supposed to be tough to obtain in battlefront so it felt like an achievement once you got the likes of Vader. That turned into a massacre leading them to turn down the cost in everyThing (before doing away with micro transactions altogether after Disney was rumored to step on). Now a week later a bunch of players are like us almost exactly because demands were caved to based on premature feedback and now players are bored because without opening anything outside of the free daily pack players have unlocked every character in the game in a matter of days and are running out of stuff to do waiting for the rest of the campaign in a month. Then there's the guy who made fez who literally just left the industry because he couldn't deal with the scuzz at the bottom of our consumer base. And again I hate to bring this example but we are particularly bad as a group in that sometimes when the devs try to open up to us and even share some good news for them it's met with disgusting things. What do you expect from community members and devs when the feedback they get for expression joy like a new family me never is met online by anaonymous players who not having to say it to their face, replies back "hoping for sids" that's beyond screwed up and that what this player base specifically is responding with. IMO we don't deserve a discussion and back and forth. We deserve these announcements and one way communications until the players decide to step up eventually and weed out the frustrated from the trash who we should be trying to do away with in our group.
