The FCC isn't trying to do anything with the internet; in fact, the opposite. Repealing NN removes the regulations that prohibit the free market from doing its thing.

  • Everyone is allowed to have an opinion and can tell their representatives in government what they think, but may I suggest looking into Net Neutrality more? There is no "free" that'll come from getting rid of NN. Getting rid of it will cause the consumer to pay even more money and let huge companies just get richer with even less competition. It'll stop amazingly wonderful things like "internet celebrities" (I know some people hate them...or at least some, like Jake Paul, but the majority are very nice people who got to live their dream and entertain hundreds of thousands if not millions because of NN), and small groups and projects from getting anywhere as the internet is sold like plans on tv with different and confusing packages. I HATE Comcast because of the sh*tty service they've provided my family with tv. I'd rather not put up with them when it comes to my internet too.

  •
Getting rid of it will cause the consumer to pay even more money and let huge companies just get richer with even less competition.
If that did happen, it wouldn't be the direct result of removing NN. It would be the result of companies being turd-bags toward their customers. The thing is, it would go against their interests to do that. The amazing thing about the free market is that the consumer has the power; the only way consumers will pay more is if they let companies push them around. Companies know this. The only thing preventing competition is net neutrality. If a certain company dicks their customers around, another company will step in and give customers a better offer. As a result, the quality of service goes up and the consumers are better off. Only without market regulations is this dynamic possible.

No. Not at all. They can f*cking take as much money as they like because we NEED internet and only they can provide it. You obviously need to sit down and think of how this would go more.

There is, and will be going forward, more than one internet provider. A company that wants to make money will do so by giving consumers a better deal, thus attracting their business.

  • No. You're obviously ignorant on the subject. Do you now how providers work? In a lot of areas there is NO choice of who you use. At all. You either use that one company, like comcast, or have NOTHING.

With the repeal of NN different providers will expand faster (due to increased investment) into areas other providers cover and engage in competition with those other providers, and the rest is history.

  • Once again, ignorant. You realize that won't happen, right? Like, at all? The ISP's work together. There is no competition and don't start that whole "I can start my own ISP" thing.

  • Well, if that happens then I'll eat my words.

  • Hopefully NN is never taken away and we never get to see.
