After the recent stream I think it's becoming obvious that tokens have become repetitive and unnecessary.
So what do you think:
2 legendaries, 1 blue?
Or 2 tokens, 1 blue?

The real problem is not the tokens, it's the random engrams ... The token system is ok for me, but they should give us the choice, buy some random weapons or exchange for a random engram ... Bungie turned Destiny 2 into a over simplified game and it's killing the end game. Put a better reward system and fix the PVP ... it's the only hope to save D2 ....

I think loot should drop directly, and tokens should be more of a side reward, but I would not remove them. How about the more you play in an area, the more tokens you get (though normal loot drops at the same rate), so tokens are more of a long term reward. Then you can choose if you want to buy a specific weapon/armor piece, or go for a random weapon/armor piece and increase your faction reputation. The higher your rep. the more loot you get, with a chance an exclusive exotic or quest that slowly increases. At the end of the season you get a large package with an amount of loot depending on your rep. Does that sound good?

Edited by Blackheart77: 11/23/2017 4:12:01 PMI'd very much like the tokens removed. And maybe have each vendor offer bounties kinda like in Destiny 1. 🤔
-
Not entirely... Loot drops should be the main source of gear but I think there should be no cap on the amount of token you can hold and then f you save up say a few hundred then you can pair that with a hundred legendary shards or so and then use that to buy a piece or set of really damn good gear. That’s how it should work I think.

Roses are red, Two tokens and a blue. Destiny is dead And you know it's true.

I love the token system -
No rng.

Why not set it up so if you have (example) 50 blue tokens you can cash them in on purple (legendary) tokens, 50 purple tokens get traded in for gold tokens (exotic)... But then the vendors would have to have GOOD loot that is specific. Make these items NOT drop in gameplay so your grind is rewarded the way you want it. Hell, these items could have different perks/mods as well.. 3 problems solved!
-
No because that was the replacement for faction reputation, but I think they should just add more loot drops to activities.
-
Tokens are no different than reputation, but now you can apply it to any character you want. It's better than rep from d1

For the 8% that said no...
stop lying to yourself. Its not healthy for you or others around you.
Anyone who voted no must be missing half their brain

No I do not think Tokens should be removed. And not because 2 tokens and a blue is ok. Our tokens need to give us freedom to buy what the @&!% we want from the vendor associated with said @&!%ing token.
-
I do like saving up 500 Tokens Stalking the vendor engram, Waiting for the Max 300 to finally show up, And spamming the hell outta the donation, And swim in max loot.
-
i didnt know that zavala, hawkthorne, shaxx, banshee, and everyone else was also a cryptarch.
-
The random power level of the vendors makes tokens completely worthless. If they at least came in at my current power level, I might consider spending them. As it stands, IB tokens are only worth spending on the last day of IB when Saladin sells upgraded crap. Granted, we can bank our stupid tokens then use a 3rd party app to swap them back when we happen to see a 300 vendor, but that is way too much effort for a cosmetic/trash reward.
-
Activities should drop tokens in addition to loot. Tokens don’t feel rewarding but then again hardly anything feels rewarding with static rolls.
-
They're fine if we can actually buy stuff with them. The setup now sucks. But have each vendor sell an item for like 20-50 tokens each. Whatever people think is fair. 50 if you want more of a grind without being unreasonable. 30 packages is 600 tokens. That's 12 drops if 50 tokens each. That's enough to buy the full armor set and all weapons from a faction. Then just let you gain xp for then for everything you do and even you level up you get a package with a random drop. At least this way you can get that piece or 2 you're missing instead of doing 2 faction rallies and all missing the boots.

Edited by The Grizzled Ancient: 11/23/2017 10:35:19 PMI also prefer Destiny 1’s specific engrams (primary engram, helmet engram, etc) over Destiny 2’s generalized engrams. All the new systems in Destiny 2 seem to exist solely to disconnect us from the satisfaction of getting loot. It’s like Destiny 2 has an INDIRECT loot system and Destiny 1 has a DIRECT loot system. I much prefer seeing loot drop post match/post strike than getting tokens, having to leave whatever I’m doing and go back to the tower to get my loot. It disconnects you from the experience, which in my opinion is a bad thing.

I want that traiterous sweeperbot spy melted down for scrap.
-
Yes, but not until I have spent the hundreds of tokens I've got for each vendor. Now if only there was something worth spending them on, I think that is more of a problem. Lacklustre gear.
-
Tokens should stay in the game, but they should be implemented as either a means to buy items (as mentioned in this thread) or to turn in for additional item rolls (as they are now) on top of regular drops from actually doing the activities (ala D1).

Edited by Erijian: 11/24/2017 2:56:15 AMTokens are fine. The reward system in general sucks. If we actually got post-game drops occasionally, had vendors selling items for said tokens at a fair token price, let's say 3x as much as a rank up, AND had our slot wheel of faction rank ups the system would be perfect IMO. That gives you three ways of getting a specific item: potential random drop, buy from vendor when they have it for a lot of tokens, or spin the wheel and hope you get it for a small amount of tokens.
-
I think the tokens are a perfectly acceptable planetary currency. I would take them out of end game content and crucible though. Just have D1 reward system for those activities.
-
Or, another option: BUY ITEMS WITH TOKENS. I think that would solve everything. A few items would rotate around every week that you could buy. You could try to get RNG it with reputation (would cost less) or you could buy whatever is available. When you reached milestone levels (10,25,50,75,etc.) you would receive special rewards. Problem solved.
