I went into cvars and set vsync to 0 and frame limiter to 60 and now the game doesn't crash but I'm getting really bad screen tearing at 60fps on a 60hz monitor with vsync off. If I turn vsync back on while playing the screen tearing goes away but game crashes shortly after. Is there anyway to stop the screen tearing using these settings or no?

Try setting your frame limit around 57. Your monitor is limiting what you can do, keep v-sync off
