I find it telling how when you ask certain people a question like this, they won’t answer with great things about the US, they’ll answer with terrible things about other countries. Yes, NK has no freedom of speech. Yes, Venezuela is a terrible example of democracy. But why does that automatically make the US so great? Should I get praise simply for stabbing a fewer number of people than somebody else?
If you want to say that the US is great, talk about the US. Talk about the amount of aid it gives to impoverished countries every year, and the tangible impact that has had. Talk about the rights it gives its citizens and the successes and advances that have come from giving people those rights.
