I do actually like this game a lot. I dislike a lot of the choices they made as far as rewards and crucible
-
Yeah so do the rest of us but we still play it. As opposed to "get back to playing good games". Pick one. Do you like it or not?
-
I like D2 I just have no reason to play it. I dislike the crucible. It’s possible to like one aspect of a game and not the other
-
Yes but "go back to playing good games" implies that this one isnt good. Which certainly doesnt imply that you "like the game a lot". You sound bipolar lolol
-
Right now the game is not “good”. The crucible is borderline unplayable and the PvE rewards aren’t worth the grind. It’s a figure of speech implying that this game, in its current state, is not good. Fortnite, in its current state, is good. Titanfall 2 is good, so is Assassins Creed Origins. Mind you my concept of “good” is subjective. The game was good to me when it came out. It is not longer good because they’ve failed to update anything to incentivize playing
-
Disagree. I've played The Division circa Patch 1.3. I have INTIMATE knowledge of trying to play a game that is bordering on unplayable, and Destiny 2 is NOWHERE near that. There is a BIG difference between playing a game that is simply not to your personal liking....and playing a game that is fundamentally BROKEN. Broken because the loot system is dropping rewards that are less powerful than you need to clear the content your playing. Broken because your playing a game where the enemies are so -blam!-ing bullet-spongy and tanky that you have to empty MULTIPLE CLIPS into the trash mobs just to get them to die...and are constantly running out of ammo. Broken because---unless you're staking the most powerful defensive buffs in the game----half the enemies in the game (including trash mobs) can one-shot you. There are many incentives to play. They are just incentives that do no appeal to loot-motivated or other externally-motivated players. But that isn't everyone. I'm logging in to play just about every day. But I'm a game-play/internally motivated player. So I'm happy as a clam grinding for the weapons of Faction Rally....and the planet specific armor sets. In fact I'm starting to get a bit frustrated because I can't get the pieces I want for my Hunter.
-
Does the full auto, unlimited ammo wardcliff coil glitch not fit your definition of broken? You can also cheese every part of the raid. You can make no enemies spawn, cheese void room by sitting in a corner AND have a wardcliff coil mini gun. Not broken?
-
No. Because cheesing every part of PVE only ruins your own experience, and you have to choose to use it. In PVP, my understanding is that its very difficult to get enough ammo to actually activate the glitch....and its a pretty shitty PVP weapons. As far as glitchy raids.....you clearly didn't play Vault of Glass or Crota's End when they first dropped.
-
It ruins it for the people that don't cheese it as well. The rewards are cosmetic only, now they are even more worthless because this raid is so easy to cheese. And yes it has been like this on every raid, which makes it even more ridiculous. It won't be a problem in trials, I know that. But it's broken. Watch it not get fixed because it's PvE and not PvP that's affected. Might as well just hand everyone the rewards for beating the raid. This is the most broken one yet. I seen a YouTube video of 2 people beating calus in 3 plates using literally full auto merciless. Just another example of them rushing content. Quality over quantity.
-
The rewards are only "worthless" when you are looking to them to grant STATUS. To be proof to everyone else in the game that you're a bad-ass. Otherwise someone else cheesing the raid has no impact on YOUR experience of the game. But then that's why so many people are complaining about the raid rewards, Trials rewards, and the Clan reward system. Because of the changes to the loot system....the gear from these are no longer the in-game status symbols they once were. But also, there aren't nearly the cheating problems in Trials that plagued Destiny 1.

It's an interesting psyche that can't have personal enjoyment in a video game because others are doing well.
-
You are exactly right it doesn't give me that status anymore and that's trash. The whole point is to "become legend". There's winners and losers in this world. Each person chooses which one they are. Things should be hard to get. That way you actually have to put in the work to get the reward. Doesn't get any more real life than that baby. Would be a good life lesson for all the kids of destiny.

I farmed tokens and got all the faction gear in one day. I got the gensym knight hunter set in about a week of farming. Duplicate weapons are useless and gunsmith mats, legendary shards, and crucible and vanguard tokens are just stacked up in my inventory. I get what you’re saying but there are changes that should be made to keep the player base strong in this game. And there are seriously broken things: the emote glitch, the heavy glitch, the inexplicably low ammo drop rate in the raid. What we really need is calm discourse (like you and I are having) to discuss and hopefully get problems fixed. We need bungie to deal with issues as they arise rather than waiting until the next DLC to make changes.
-
How many hours a day were you playing? Because you either absolutely no-lifed the game....or have such charmed RNG that you need to start buying lottery tickets. I suspect the former and not the latter. Because I've been playing this game for about 2-3 hours per day, every day since launch...and there are still several exotics I don't have. Still several armor sets that are incomplete...and I still need a set of arms for my Hunter's Dead Orbit armor set. As for the bugs and glitches, frankly every game these days have them. This game has fewer of them than Destiny 1 did, and Bungie has been faster at fixing them. It took them almost two years to fix the Destiny 1 heavy ammo glitch. And they aren't "fixing" the problems with the loot system as they arise. We are seeing what has always been part of their roll out plan of the game. Luke Smith hinted at it in his interview when he talked about having accurately predicted many things that were going to be issues in the game, and continuing to go forward with their plan in dealing with them. Also it took them two weeks to fix the emote glitch. Do you really think they had enough time to draw up a plan of improving end-game rewards from scratch and roll it out in time for Season 2?? No. They are rolling out things that were already in the development pipeline. Probably things that were intended to be part of the release version of the game....but weren't ready in time to meet their release deadline ...and Activision was not going to give them another extension after already delaying the release of the game for an entire year.
-
I’ll admit I put an ungodly number of hours into this game in September and October. There are still some legendary weapons I don’t have. But I got all the faction weapons I wanted without trying. I got all the IB weapons in the first go. It just seems like there are many unfinished things that once completed will make this game so much better. Legendary mods could be awesome to grind for. Making vendors have purchasable items and quests will make for things to grind for. It’s like you said, we play for different reasons. I don’t think were every going to 100% agree on the state of the game
-
And you're playing a game that----unlike Destiny 1----is DESIGNED to reward you in a manner that is proportional to your effort and your time investment. That's the difference. In Destiny 2, your rate of progression is under your control....you put an "ungodly number of hours" into the game...and so you blew through the content quickly. Instead of Destiny 1 where you could----in the vanilla game---find yourself beating your head against a loot system so broken and so stingy that you could run TWELVE clears of the raid and only have ONE piece of raid armor to show for it. (been there...done that). Or 60 raid clears in before a Mythoclast drops (My Name is Byf)....or simply have a desired item NEVER drop. (Me....Year one Fatebringer.) Destiny 2's loot system gives the player some element of control over their rate of progression. All clearing content did in Destiny 1 was keep giving you pulls at a slot machine...and being left hoping that (this time) the low-probability even you want actually happens.
-
Damn right its subjective lol because fortnite is complete trash, titanfall 2 is maybe half as good as the first one and origins is just a bunch of games slapped together. Also you just named 3 games that dont actually incentivize playing. Just saying everyone keeps crapping on d2 and i totally agree that they botched pretty much everything but I cant stand fairweather players. Theyre exactly whats ruined the clan system.
-
Agreed. Titanfall 2 is good....but got away from a lot of what made the frist game unique. Assassin's Creed: Origins...based on what I've played....is an open-world, story driven RPG. It'll be a fun game to play through once....(just like Horizon Zero Dawn)....but I sincerely doubt I'll feel any wish to play through it again once I'm done.
-
I’ve played destiny and destiny 2 at least once a week since the launch of D1. I’m not a fair weather player. I speak my mind because this is a game I love but it’s just so bad right now. Assassins Creed origins has an incredible story and the battles against the gods are incredible. The campaign is TF2 is wonderful and the PvP is more fun than the first. I love fortnite because you could be the best shot in the game and die immediately because your luck is bad or you picked a bad drop zone. It also plays different every time which is a lot of fun to me. As I said, were both entitled to our opinions. However, you seem dead set in the idea that talking bad about D2 means someone is a fair weather fan. I would argue that being critical of something and pointing out its shortcoming is critical to being a fan
-
I talk bad about whats wrong with d2 all the time. Its just the suggestion that people should go bad to playing better games. Theres more than enough loss of players on d2 rn.
-
What draws you to continue playing D2, though? I’ve beaten the raid, I’ve gotten all the gear I want. I have no interest in the prestige or challenge mode in the raid to just get cosmetics. It’s just not worth it to me to grind through crucible just to try to get the one or two guns I don’t have. I spent hours chasing a good Luna in D1. Now I have no need to do that in D2
-
What draws me? Fun...and collecting new toys to play with...and new armor sets to feed the power-fantasy of being a supernatural bad-ass. The motivation for me to keep playing is INTERNAL. The game and its "toys" are fun to play with. You---OTOH---sound like a player who is motivated to play by the REWARDS that come from the game play, rather than the game play itself. Once the rewards stop giving you what you want....you lose intrest and move on. Neither approach is good or bad....they are just different. Where as you were willing to "spend hours" chansing that "god-rolled" 'Luna....I couldn't have possibly cared less. What kept me raiding in AoT, was getting that complete set of VoG raid armor and ornaments. Hence the problem when people start making blanket statements about there being "no incentives" in Destiny 2. There are lots of incentives. Just none that SPEAK TO YOU, and what motivates YOU. That is not true in my case.
-
Helping players who havent for the sake of the game and the fan base. Thats what draws me to continue playing. The idea that its not just about me and what ive accomplished and their are other players who havent yet and require active players to do these events with, Which is exactly why i say players that think like that are exactly whats ruined the clan system. Because why would you want to be in a clan with a bunch of players that are inactive because theyve already finished everything for themselves.
-
I can agree with that. I’m in a clan with several of my friends (no ransoms) so we don’t really have to deal with helping clan mates with stuff. I honestly think that the majority of people that play this game (even those like me that play it rarely) will come back as soon as bungie makes some impactful changes Make raids more rewarding and I’d grind them like I did in D1. Make trials less likely to be filled with MIDA and Uriel’s and I’d be more likely to run it every weekend. Give us true custom matches and I’d play all the time with my friends. I just don’t think there’s enough incentive for regular play and there are other games that are more rewarding to play currently
-
The problem with triels unfortunately isnt mida and uriels. You find them all over crucible and i still destroy people. Trials is ruined because of services. Google Destiny Carry Services. There are about 30 sites with pro players that get paid to carry people through trials and theyve FLOODED trials. And theyre guaranteed services. Meaning either they know some exploit or theyre just the most competetive fps gamers alive. There is no way to actually compete in trials anymore.
