Who really made the Ghosts?

What if Clovis Bray made the ghosts, found a way to infuse his tech with the light. The ghost were programmed to believe they were made by the traveler and to erase the minds of anyone they rose. Apart from the Bray family. If they are all guardians then how do they remember who they were in their past life? (Assuming that is true that is.) This would make a lot of sense, that way perhaps the traveler defended us by pushing back the darkness and not by making ghosts, that was a lie. Why? Who knows. Control perhaps. Or to keep, faith? For this to be true, the ghost would still need to draw the light from the traveler. I'm sure Clovis would have found a way to draw and harness the light via ghosts. The light lives in all things, the traveler radiates light, ghost can draw and harness that power and feed it to us. I came up with this cause Iv always wondered, why the traveler chose us? From the books of sorrow alone there are many more races that would have done far better than us with our abilities. Imagine is The Ammonits had ghosts? And why didn't the traveler give everyone a ghost immediately? Given how powerful the traveler seems to be, making ghosts should have been effortless. What do you think? *EDIT* If you look at the poster for the second D2 DLC, most people think that the female on the front is Ana Bray. And just below her is what looks like a ghost, but massive. Maybe it isn't really that size, they could have blown it up just for the poster, but it makes you think. TGR89

  • This is why the Traveler chose us.
The blaze sits inside a nest of little worlds, still too distant to share its heat but plainly staring out at you. A face emerges, drawn from plasmas and radiation... There must be meanings in its roar. You listen hard and carefully, and sometimes a lucid melody seems to rise out of random noise. Joy builds, and the first hope in ages transforms you. It seems important, even critical, to tell every star from here to the black between the galaxies that you will be strong again.
As it approached Earth it had a vision that filled it with hope. It's likely that we are the first species that it encountered who are able to wield it's Light directly. I'm sure that Ghosts would know when they were created. Ghosts are more than just machines that can use Light, they are made with the Traveler's Light, you drain a Ghost's Light completely and it dies, it can never be resurrected. There is also no evidence that Humanity had any equipment capable of using Light before the collapse. The Cabal learnt how to drain the Traveler from something they discovered on the Dreadnaught.

  • The Traveler created it. The ammonites and whatnot never got Ghosts because the Traveler fled instead of staying and sacrificing itself like it did here. That does leave the other question though... why did it choose us?

    • Any theory based on fabricated memories is inherently flawed as it gives it a free pass to dismiss all contrary evidence as fake.
