I'm just gonna chime in with my info on this one.
I'm experiencing exactly the same issue, however it's been an issue since the latest hotfix.
Before the hotfix, i was constantly getting the "buffalo" error code, that's not an issue anymore for me. Instead i'm getting some really noticable screen stutters or frame freezes that wasn't there before.
All my drivers are up to date with the latest screen driver. I'm getting 120+ fps, and no fps drops, but the frame freezes for 1-2 seconds, sometimes longer.
System:
CPU: Intel i7 6850K Broadwell-E
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Waterforce 8 gb
Monitor: Asus PG279Q ROG 165 hz Gsync
Memory: 32 gb 2666 MHz

Unfortunately no. Mine is more like 2-3 seconds of freeze frame, and then it comes back. Almost as if the harware couldn't keep up, but i'd have a hard time thinking that would be the issue with my specs :P
