I’m not sure if Guardians can procreate since they used to be dead, but since their Ghosts seemed to revive all of their other bodily functions AND Ghosts keep all of our organs and cells refreshed, I’d say it’s very likely. The problem is that a Ghost only appears to be able to heal whoever it’s paired with, so I bet that a pregnant Guardian would have to avoid dying the whole 9 months so the baby can be survive

there is no specific knowledge about any sort or bodily functions of guardians. Do they need sleep? food? etc ? they can't die. are they not just zombies. dead corpses animated by the light ?
-
Guardians do sleep, not known if they NEED it though. A Guardian woke up wearing the VoG chestplate with his heart beating to an unknown signal. Cayde proves that Guardians eat... then again there is a difference between flesh and machine.
-
Guardians most definitely don’t need to eat or sleep because their Light restores their bodies, but we know that they can do both (many cases of Guardians eating and drinking, only a few of which are done by Cayde, proving that Exos can eat and sleep despite also not needing to). Zombies are thoughtless corpses that are steered around by nerve firings that should have ceased after death; they don’t think, they don’t have emotions, and they continue to deteriorate as their body is in a state of failure. Guardians are not zombies because their bodies are restored to the living state with blood pumping and brain functioning; they’re not just vessels steered around mindlessly by their Ghosts
-
I am using "zombie" very loosely here. but guardians were dead. and are now walking around by some means. ie the light. we know they are reanimated by the light - but are they alive again or just animated ? there is no direct info so far as I can see, no in past lore or present to say one way or another.
not just vessels steered around mindlessly by their Ghosts
that's a whole other theory some people have put forth - that guardians are basically controlled by their ghost. In a darker interpretation of the interplay between light/ and dark.
-
Ah ok, gotcha While there’s no real evidence for either side, I’d like to point out that each Guardian is unique and has memories or impressions of their past lives, so I’d say that steers a bit more towards revived rather than reanimated. I’ve seen the Ghost-controls-Guardian theory and honestly have to say it shouldn’t be taken seriously; there is of course the mental symbiosis between the pair, but we’ve seen time and time again that the Ghosts don’t always agree with what their Guardians do and that the two are often notably different in personality. Plus Guardians typically act of their own accord or instinct, clearly not that of their Ghost’s Examples: Rezyl/Dredgen and his Ghost (this one alone pretty much demolished the theory all on its own lol. Inboth stages of his life he did many things that his Ghost advised against), Cayde unable to control his Ghost’s movements in D2, our Ghost and the whole “you fly too fast” thing along with other moments that he doesn’t want to go where we want to go (Reef visit in D1)
-
Thought the lore stayed guardians don't remember their past lives. Driving to fast happened in that one, or any life after the light. Before the initial reanimated guardian came to be the cards say they remember nothing
-
Guardians don’t remember anything of their past life, at least at first (except possibly their name), but we’ve got some lore stating that most Guardians will get fleeting memories and visions of their past, or at least get feelings of deja by or of missing something Our Ghost even had an Age of Triumph Line saying “It worries me how little you remember about your past” because it’s apparently unusual for a Guardian to go as long as ours has without remembering a single thing Cayde is another good example for this: in the D1 Cayde’s Journal entry he talks about memories of being a soldier in the Collapse (as a human and as an Exo) and even a memory that might have been his death
-
Well we can assume that guardians don't need to eat or sleep. They probably still do anyways because having their ghost constantly refresh them when they get hungry or tired would just be a waste of light.
-
who can say there never has been any narrative on any of it * LOL that also assumes that the light is finite ? who can say ?
-
We do have proof that ghosts can't revive guardians infintely. There was at least one grimoire card where a guardian got killed so many times so quickly that their ghost couldn't keep reviving them, and they ended up dying for good.
-
In one strike doesn't that one say mu ghost is taking a beating... Or something along those lines?
-
hmm I don't recall that one - do you remember what card that was ? I could look it up on the Ishtar collective. we do know guardians die if their ghost is destroyed - like Felwinter destroyed that warlord's ghost - we do know that the hive can rip the ghost away from a guardian. and then they will die. hmm interesting - I wasn't aware of a limit - if you know the grimoire card - I'd love to see it.
-
I don't remember it unfortunately and I'm too lazy to find it.
-
well lets agree they haven't been very specific about it LOL
