yeah - cause this never happened in D1 either... >__> Oh wait - yes it did. Many times. Not to mention head glitching and getting shot through walls, and lines of sight that are impossible. Welcome to Destiny. also - don't "name and shame" that'll get you banned.

  • "Name and Shame" via posting a video of the action which shows the name of the person doing it is a horrible policy. But it's their company and companies ride their choices into bankruptcy

  • Im ok with naming and shaming cheaters. Bungie needs to lighten up on that end and hire some real programmers or testers.

  • Why are you all butt hurt because someone called out a cheater? Because its against the tos or because bungie wants to protect all the special snow flakes like you? Lighten up. People like you make me sick.

  • Gun, I never agree with you on anything. But, you are spot on here. Is it a good thing the cheater got identified? Probably. It most Def IS naming and shaming. There has to be consistency.

  • Could you (or anyone) please provide the link/ quote of where this is explicitly forbidden? I just went through both the https://www.bungie.net/en/View/Bungie/terms and https://www.bungie.net/en/View/bungie/conduct and i am not seeing any relevant section where it states its prohibited to call out some one cheating (with evidence or otherwise) Dont get me wrong I can fully understand the want/need to prevent false witch hunts. But this kind of evidence far outweighs the occasional comment of some random fireteam member shouting "their cheating, look at them rubber banding back and fourth..." without the know how or proper tools to actually analyze network traffic and actually "prove" they are cheating.

  • Ok, so 1; The OP is not personally attacking the person cheating. 2; OP is not harassing anyone, hes simply putting out a PSA that this needs to be addressed (both the cheating, and the spot that is vulnerable to exploiting.) and 3; Hes not releasing any private information or anything that remotely seems related to privacy.

  • Gamer Tag IS and always has been considered private information.

Since when? If that is the case they would ban all videos posted of game play as it "shows" other gamer tags, or PSN ID's. Also i checked out https://www.xbox.com/he-il/legal/codeofconduct and the example of personal information they gave was a home address. I can use other microsoft tools to search gamertags. I don't think this really falls in the realm of "private information" at least to the extent of many platforms prohibiting the displaying of them via streaming/video capturing.

  • It's always been that way, when we posted videos, and not their name, just the videos of ppl climbing in the tree at Banner fall, cheating to glitch out of the area, we (my clan) were told, you can't show videos of ppl cheating. Their gamer tag is visible and that IS naming and shaming. Period. If there has been a change, I would REALLY love to know about it but Bungie has never wanted the community to name a cheater and then call them out as a cheater in the public forums!!! There is another more private method to do that. Follow the link that the mentor SHOULD have provided. We as a community, do NOT name and shame. And OP clearly named the guy through the video and clearly shamed him by calling him a briefer in the title. This IS naming and shaming, unambiguously. Does the glitch need to be fixed? Yes, does the player who may have been abusing it need to be addressed, yes again. But there is a proper way to do things. In game reporting or web site reporting, including that video link. But the public forums are not supposed to be used to name and shame a cheater.

  • The problem i have with this mentality is that again going back to both the code of conduct and terms of service, there is nothing that specifically lists these types of examples of what NOT to do on the forums. More to the problem is that its all "open to interpenetration" ie semantics. Maybe their stance has changed, who knows. Almost all games that have a TOS express that they have the right to change the rules as they see fit at any given time with out notice. Maybe this is the case? I don't know. I am just saying that from what both the Terms of Service and the site that displays the code of conduct, neither of them say this is not allowed, or "not cool." Thus why i feel they should be more clear about what they feel is ok and not ok to post, instead of keeping it so "generalized." I am not saying in the past they haven't discouraged this. Just that currently I don't see any official post/link that says don't do this. The only thing I do see is multiple people say its not OK because in the past it wasn't OK. I agree there is a proper way to report things, and this game can take from other games and implement a ticketing system when you report an issue, so you can give a brief example to go along with the problem you are reporting. It would also be nice to get even a generic response that they are looking into the issue (ie an xbl/psn message, or a whisper if on PC.) The major issue i have with the current system is when/if you report someone you Know (not assume) is cheating and there is zero feed back, it makes you feel like it doesn't make a difference when you try to make the game better by removing cheaters/bugs/glitches. I have been on forums that are OK with calling out cheaters an those that aren't. For those that are OK with it, you need video proof, not just "your word." For those that are not OK with it, those games had a decent way in-game to communicate with players that their issue is being addressed. But may still require a screen-shot, or video proof. But trying to defend a flawed system and saying that we shouldn't call out cheaters (with proof) because we should let them handle it is a bad defense. Mainly because of Bungie's track record with programming and releasing a game with many issues, or simply not testing to a complete extent, or flawed anti cheat systems. Simply because this has become an industry standard [to release a half-assed/flawed -Destiny1-game to be fixed/improved with later updates], which is sad.

  • Whoa whoa, there is a lot to unwrap there. I'm only going to talk about the issue at hand. If Bungie policy shifts or changes, I have no issue with it, I just want to be aware of the environment so I don't get in trouble by posting something similar in the future. Because I know from personal experience what has happened in the past. I CLEARLY think that person shown in the video was cheating. I 100% believe there was a glitch that was being used, if not abused. Jackwad actually waved afterwards. I would love nothing more than to COMPLETELY eliminate "name and shame" from the conduct code. I agree with you on just about every point you make AND I am not defending cheaters. What I AM defending is the process in which we report these issues, the one Currently in place, NOT the one we think or hope should be in place. If you feel the need to attempt and force a change over this, go right on with your bad self!! Bungie is way more stubborn than you or I! lol. Good Luck with That.
