Nah I would ban you in a heartbeat
First for using work computer for playing games
2nd for only using debugging software on your "play" computer
I am honestly surprised your existing company did not walk u you out the door

You’re surprised because my company didn’t fire me for playing Destiny 2 at work? I’m a game developer... hell one of the perks at my work is that I can play Any video game I want for up to an hour per day on the clock. I’m not sure what you mean by my “play” computer either. I have a computer at work and a computer at home. I do work on both machines. I play games on both machines (see above).
-
I almost only play on my work computer, sometimes right in front of my boss. Am I bad?
-
Either you are a massive troll or totally clueless.
-
Nope just having worked at a software company where a developer did the same thing and the resulting ligation was brutal
-
Yea, if I had actually used my work PC to hack a competitor’s title, I would totally expect to be fired and face litigation. And like... I know that, which is why it’s asinine to think I would draw additional attention to myself if that were the case.

Edited by Genesis: 11/7/2017 7:47:24 PMI own my own business should I buy another pc to game on or do business on my normal gaming rig? An even better option would be -blam!-ing fanboys like you who have nothing constructive to add to the situation to shut the -blam!- up.
-
If you are a developer yes If you are running spreadsheets no Just common sense my scrub friend I assume you are not running a bit torrent on your business computer either ?
-
Just shut the hell up and stop telling other people how to live their lives.
-
Edited by Genesis: 11/7/2017 7:56:30 PMActually I'm not. The only bit torrent client I have running is the bnet launcher if they still even use bit torrent but to be perfectly honest its MY business and I can run it however I want. If I think its OK to run bit torrent on my work PC then I'll -blam!-in run bit torrent on my PC. I don't give 2 shits what you think. You don't know me or what I do so what right do you have to judge?
-
Just a cyber security person honhasnto deal with the results of users like u :)
-
Oh that's great! I also work in cybersecurity. Oh btw you should probably be able to spell your position out. Cybersecurity is actually 1 word at least according to dictionary.com
-
You're pretty rude hey! I also have my own business. It makes enough money to buy multiple laptops, pc's, consoles etc not just ONE. Your point is invalid. You're fired.
-
it’s his own computer that he uses to do work on, that’s not something to ban him for you’ve evil -blam!-
-
He does not clearly state it his personal computer And Debuggers really yeah decompling other people's code is strictly forbidden I have had friends terminated when company A found that they were "debugging" company B software Again Bungo warned people that they can see the software you are running
-
I am fully aware of that, which is why I wouldn’t do it. For what it’s worth, my work knows all about this and I still have my job. Please don’t assume I acted in bad faith because you know someone who once did. They are not me, nor do you actually know anything about me.
-
As mentioned, I reference having debugging software, not decompiling software. Secondly, I would not be upset if I had done something deserving of a ban. Third, whatever infractions your friends committed do not apply to me or to my situation. Do not assume bad behavior on my part because you know people who have done bad things. Finally, I'm fully aware that attempting to "debug" or "decompile" a competitor's software would be borderline industrial espionage. I am not so foolish as to risk my entire career, or expose the company I work for to the legal ramifications, of unethical and illegal reverse engineering. I certainly would not then risk "outing" myself on Bungie's forums if I was guilty of such crimes.
-
Edited by ShadowWave: 4/24/2018 7:44:33 AMIf Bungie's game scans your computer for software and bans you based on that, isn't it considered a spyware?
-
Wow. Well played. I hope you get your answer or at the very least a refund.
-
Well he never states that he "decompiles" anything, and debugging is not the same as decompiling. Where does he say that he decompiles other peoples code? no where, stop coming up with excuses. They cannot see the software you are running, only the software that tries to hook into Destiny 2. He also says "my machine" is probably means he owns it.
-
sounds like a bungie fanboy to me lol. screw anybody that got banned they gotta deserve it
-
Not a fanboy but pc people always think they are brilliant and others stupid It is not that he had the software on his computer it's the fact that it running while playing Considering the amount of memory and CPU it takes To run debugging tools the only reason was to hack or look into Bungo code
-
Debugging tools are not used to hack into code, it's used to test your own code for bugs- something that wouldn't interact with the Destiny 2 client in anyway unless if the program was trying to hook into it without him knowing which probably isnt the case here. Theres no reason for it to hook into the game. Also are you english? I see your having a small bit of trouble with spelling, I'm not judging or anything just looking out for you mate.
-
Note he says "debugging" tools in general and yes there are tools that can decompile running applications As a developer he knows better plain and simple
-
You are 100% correct that as a developer I know better than to try to use debugging software on any game other than one I am developing, that's exactly the reason why I would never do it. The suggestion that because I have such software installed I must have used it nefariously is offensive, to believe I would risk my career by drawing attention to it is absurd. If there were any real evidence of wrongdoing, what would I possibly have to gain by drawing additional attention to it?
-
Well Bungo was pretty clear just running them would get you banned You did have to actually be caught cheating with them That's what people don't get Well good luck with your next account
