4 of 400 people were falsely banned and those were overturned. If you are one of the others you deserve your ban.....don't try to cheat or manipulate code.

  • Bungie was claiming every ban was manually reviewed. If that were true, and if their auto-detection systems were up to spec, the "overturned" bans wouldn't have happened in the first place.

  • Why? You mean a low level employee couldn't have been neglecting their job? The auto system kicks an alarm and the employee just hits a button. People take shortcuts all the time.

  • How do those words taste, now that more and more people are getting their bans overturned?

  • I still only see articles stating 4 people.

  • if the article would state the sun is now green would also take that as fact ?

  • No. If the article said 90 percent of players were having issues I may believe they were false banns. But 400 that's less than 1 percent, that's not a tech error.

  • except that you constantly ignore that your beloved bungie themselves stated there was "a group" of players banned in error after the 4 people initially stated

  • Just like you are ignoring the fact that there are cheaters and they need to go? How do you know that the group they are referring to isn't the group they are referring to? If it was a tech issue more players would have been affected. Maybe it is more than four, show me the numbers in an official statement.

  • Seriously I only see where they overturned 4 bans. I did just read an IGN article where the ran the game all day while running those third party apps and nothing happened.

  • You don't need an IGN article. It's right here in Bungie's own words: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46426 "Update: As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game."

What are you talking about? Go read an article. Approximately 400 people got a ban. They were reviewed, a group of 4 were reinstated. That's it, 4 people. Maybe there will be more but as of now there are not.

  • You mean an article like this one? http://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-third-party-apps-will-not-result-in-destiny-2-bans/ Or maybe you haven't been paying attention to all the threads in this forum with people now saying their bans have suddenly been reversed.

  • Yes exactly like that article which says the following: Only around 400 players have been banned so far, according to the developer, and the bans were not issued due to use of popular overlay and performance software (OBS, Afterburner, Discord, etc). "Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game," reads the post. Bungie also notes that it is overturning FOUR bans that were made during the beta, but did not state the reason. Plus I never believe anything I see on these forums, most are bandwagon post by people seeking attention.

  • Think about what you're saying. Why would Bungie update their post if they were still talking about the original 4 players they already told us about? Why would the update say "a group of players" instead of "4 players" like they first stated? Why would people who were complaining in the forums yesterday about being banned, turn around and say they were un-banned today? I can see the logic behind lying about how they ended up getting banned to begin with, but what would they get from lying about being un-banned? You exhibit a severe lack of critical thinking skills.

  • There are so many reasons people could say they were banned unfairly it's rediculous. Maybe they recieved a temporary bann yesterday, turned off their cheat software and we're allowed to play. I'm just not ok with believing forum post and would rather get my info from official statements, the only figure we have officially recieved was what I just quoted from an article you posted.

  •
There are so many reasons people could say they were banned unfairly it's rediculous.
Agreed, but you still failed to come up with a single reason someone would lie about being un-banned, if they are in fact still banned.
Maybe they recieved a temporary bann yesterday, turned off their cheat software and we're allowed to play.
Really? So, you're saying Bungie lied when they stated this: "If a player receives a message that references an account or device ban, they have permanently lost access to the activities indicated in the ban message." And this: "There are NO options to dispute or overturn account restrictions or bans." I can't tell if you're trying to vouch for Bungie's honesty or dispute it.

  • I never said they would lie about being un-banned. They could have lied about being banned in the first place.....no I don't know why people lie on the internet. A temporary ban and a device ban are different all together. I don't think Bungie is lying. Why are you defending cheaters?

  • Link me to Bungie's official text on this "temporary ban" you speak of, if you don't mind. I'm not defending cheaters. I'm pointing out that you automatically accused people with a legitimate problem that needed to be fixed as cheaters because you trust a corporate entity over your fellow consumers with all your heart.

  • https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/11929 So you believe that people would cheat but not lie about cheating? Yes I will believe Bungie over the post on these forums.

  • Did you just link me right back to the article I pulled those quotes from that state bans are permanent? That's funny. Where exactly do you see any mention of your mythical "temporary bans" there? Cheaters would lie about cheating. Innocent players would come to the forums and claim their innocence. And apparently you would call them cheaters to without the benefit of a doubt, because you think Bungie couldn't possibly get it wrong.

  • Account or Device Restriction If a player receives a message that references an account or device restriction, they have temporarily lost access to the activities indicated in the restriction message. The restriction message may indicate which activities are impacted, the duration of the restriction, and whether the restriction is at the account or device level. Players who receive an Account Restriction may resume participation in the restricted Destiny activities once the restriction has ended. Players who receive a Device Restriction will be unable to play the restricted Destiny activities on that hardware until the restriction has ended. The restrictions are temporary bans. I think of there was a tech error more than 400 people would have been banned. Just like when people complain about the servers, it's not their fault it's Bungie even though they seem to be the only ones with the issue. When 5here is a server problem Bungie acknowledges it and we all have problems.
