It's not a fiasco. Some people were caught cheating in the beta and after a manual review they were banned. A couple were mistakingly given and Bungie admitted to this and fixed it/are in the process of correcting it. Or so it's been said.

 • Which is complete bullshit, they should have been informed of that before they bought the game.

 • They most likely knew about it during the beta that they were banned, many of the posts complaining about being banned have stated they were banned during the beta. You can't believe most of what you see on the internet from random people.Known and established companies gotta tell it straight as they face actual repercussions if false.People like you don't face any.

 • Given Bungie's track record of shady shit, I'm willing to believe this. Now we're they told it was permanent and would apply to the full release as well? Important questions to be asked.

 • No. It's not. If you cheated in the Beta and bought the game thinking you'd do it in the full release .. you got what you deserved. It's about god damn time the hackers got what they deserved. More companies need to do this.

 • You do realize that doing that is actually robbery and fraud, right?

 • Or they shouldn't have cheated? Which one is worse? Bungie took their money, it's like paying a fine. Maybe they won't try and cheat anymore.

 • If they cheated, they cheated and should have been notified of the ban. Its not a fine, it's robbery

 • I honestly cannot believe the contortions those guys are going through to defend this. I am not for cheaters, but you are absolutely right. Bungie should have notified them of an account lock. I mean, it’s not as if they don’t collect contact info. This back-and-forth has been jaw-dropping.

 • The mental gymnastics these fanboys pull off to defend Bungie and their stupidity is some Olympic level shit.

 • They were notified when they got the message they were banned.

 • But we're they notified of its permanence and that it would apply to the full release?

 • I call it justice. But then again I hate cheaters.

 • No matter what you think, the law sees it for what it is. People who get banned get notified of the ban, these people were not and Bungie is now on the hook for what equates to robbery. If refunds aren't issued to these people there is absolutely a legal recourse for them to pursue. Terms and conditions apply to Bungie too.

 • I'll await the news of the 396 person lawsuit vs Bungie. Do you think they will get a lawyer for free. The phone call would probably cost more than the 60 dollar investment.

 • It won't take a lawsuit, the threat of legal action should suffice. If not, simply filing a police report should show they mean business and get it handled. This isn't a joke, Bungie is literally guilty of robbery and possibly wire fraud.

 • Like I said I will wait for the news story.

 • Doubt there will be one, most of them probably don't even realize what happened was actually illegal and will just chalk it up as a loss. There are people who have gone to Steam and gotten refunds already with no fuss. Legal involvement would be a last resort if they can't get the refunds they are owed, but I highly doubt it will come to that.

 • They were notified when they tried to play. It would be very hard, actually impossible for them to prove they did not cheat beyond a reasonable doubt while Bungie has proof.
