Ok. Seen this argument before on multiple PC games:
#1. No graphics card being updated argument is a rock solid one.
When Warhammer 40k detected active data feeds coming from a graphics card? The easiest and most accessible actual hardware item on a PC? It auto resulted in a ban because you literally are updating live feed data based on the update. Certain AMS ones won't do that, but core intel one's do it all the time. If you want to update your drives or other software? Sometimes produces the same issue. This is how PC's behave. You want an ideal world?
Do what I did and learn Linux Red Hat programming, find a qualified technician to help you work what will take years of practice to accomplish, and set parameters based on locked graphics settings for every 2 hours like most PC gaming engines do.
Or you can spend about 1100 dollars and buy a PC gaming set which locks you into a game mode and works directly with the engine itself. That locks your current settings in and specifically won't allow it update a live feed.
#2. Only certain overlay functions directly work with graphical inputs. Most are actually controller-to-keyboard override inputs if I remember correctly, but you should be double checking to see if that controller has inputs beyond stats or controls.
Most PC games, for example, allow MSI Afterburner which collects your stats from the in-game report system. It doesn't allow for graphical overlay.
The only issue with overlays is the live feed and overflow aspects. If too much overflow happens, any number of complications can occur like lag, memory allocation, buffer overflow, crashes on any number of levels, and even core memory manipulation of your own PC/servers in rare instances. This means crucible on a PC will have complications and produce problems.
I get the reasoning behind it. You can find really rock solid engines like WoW or Rift and they will flat out tell you or even purposely crash the activity your in to ensure you are warned about doing something incorrect. Other times? You won't get that far and you'll need to have known not to do that. Again, no gaming engine is perfect.

This is what I've gathered. Basically, the excuse of a graphics card driver update is not necessarily a good excuse because the graphics card is the most accessible processing unit in the machine, thus allowing it to be a vector for game data manipulation or cheating. The reason an innocuous GPU driver update can potentially trigger cheat checks is they may update, thus modify, active graphical processes. Some AMD GPUs will not update active processes, though Intel GPUs usually will. I do not know where this leaves Nvidia GPUs. I have no idea what Linux Red Hat proficiency has to do with setting video game graphics parameters. I also do not know what you mean by purchasing a $1.1k PC gaming set. Is this the total rig or a special set of hardware and/or software independent of your rig. As for graphical overlays, I'm woefully ignorant on the subject. As you can probably tell, my knowledge is certainly lacking, but any light you can shed will certainly help me in better choosing components and configuring system parameters. I plan to purchase components during this year's holiday sales.
my knowledge is certainly lacking
It's how a conversation starts and that is enough.
own rig capable of being a work station as well as a gaming machine.
Gaming takes a backseat to a workstation. If you want a simple setup? You can look into the softwares for virtual machines. This allows you two things: One gaming desktop and one workstation. The bad news is requires a lot of juice and a lot of maintenance, but there is computers which can handle it. Other then that, the options are limited in my experience. Hence the 1100 dollar comment. That's the basic lines which I actually know allow for locking in specific conditions for updates.
I have no idea what Linux Red Hat proficiency has to do with setting video game graphics parameters.
Answer: Linux is a free source operating system platform. Red Hat is a sampling package which I currently use to run enterprise software for both system management and other things. It is a high learning curve thing, so I recommend you take your time with it and ask plenty of questions to start. I still to this day will encounter unknown problems, post them on the web, and wait for a response. Sometimes it is a day. Other times it is months. The reason it is important is because as an OS it allows for customization of every process you want to control. I purposely only allow updates, for example, when I override the master password location. This restricts any updates I don't authorize. The core issue is when a download changes existing parameters. There is simply too many for me to go through. Hence why one cannot know the answer all the time. There's too many variables which actually do impact a lot of processes.

What are your thoughts on this as a first time builder's rig? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/CozymanCam/saved/pprm8d

Wow, it took me 3hrs to read this post...I kept falling asleep...yawn

Lmfao! (Am laughing at you not with you)

Well since you would rather not discuss the topic at hand, I guess I'll go through your responses previously and make this personal. Sorry kiddo, but I've seen account activity like this for the past 16 years of my life on multiple online games. I get you want the game to be your version of things, but frankly? People like you never really get involved in the technology arena, so it's not going to end well for you. I suggest you go casual and enjoy a game for what it's net worth is to you. Then again, you haven't even finished your 3rd character while I've found time to do just that with fun times on all three with people I both work with and hang out with on weekends.

If the company and game are worth playing and investing time into, sure am more then willing to dump my life into it. Here is the thing Bungie and Destiny don't deserve this commitment. That is why am laughing at you. If beg to differ, most of those wrinkly old men that own shares of companies, know what a program is. Assuming that am what you say I am. That last point, true I didn't finish it. It's a secret but I couldn't be bothered to force my self through the story to see if I'd enjoy playing as a hunter or the game. It didn't work with the Titan.
