Although that is unfortunate for you guys, I don't really gett the "Beta ran just fine" thing..
This beta was a very small portion of the main game, with major parts not even included. So maybe the SSSE stuff wasn't really needed for the beta content, ever thought of that? The beta was not a demo or benchmark for your PCs.
Nevertheless, the OFFICIAL requirements state, that you need AT LEAST an AMD FX-xxxx. In terms of system requirements this "at least" means newer, and not better or faster.
So consider yourself lucky that the beta even ran fine.
And stop blaming the dev's for poor support or what ever, they certainly are looking into it and will fix it, if possible.
Anyway, I don't understand why people are trying to play a brand new released game with an at least 7 year old CPU. wtf

Edited by j0hnnyL: 10/25/2017 2:33:10 PMStop talking sh.. wtf is wrong with you? Keep your mind and pleasure yourself - Thanks btw - The specs changed after the ppl complained the problems ;)
-
So why don't you keep it to yourself? :)
-
I will admit, I should have paid attention to the specs. That is my bad. What irks my the most is the simple fact that it ran in beta and not in full launch. I figured they would have further optimized the game, because running on as many machines as possible means more money for them. When they first announced the game, I didn't pay any attention to it because I knew my computer would not be able to handle it. But when the beta came out, I saw a friend on and i was like "no way, is it super demanding?" "No it's not at all, download it now" I played it, was super impressed and subsequently pre-ordered it. I ONLY pre-ordered because it ran in beta. And them pulling a move like this really feels like they're pulling the rug from under my feet. But then again, not really, because my excitement for this game died during the month I had to sit and watch my roommate play on his xbox.
-
Well, maybe the implementation of SSSE actually IS part of the optimization? Who knows... And, please, don't complain that they took time to make it an actual optimized PC game and not a shitty console port...
-
They took an entire extra month to optimize the pc port, to make sure it went smoothly. THAT WENT WELL
-
Lul.. but yet all other new AAA games ran fine on Phenom cpu's.. Titanfall 2, BF1, RE7.. all games that visually look on par with Destiny 2..
-
Yea, well at one point they will not work anymore. Thats how it is^^ And this won't be the last game.
-
The problem here is that the minimum requirements were changed AFTER the launch of the game. It's pretty damn rational for people to expect their Phenoms could run the game when the beta worked just fine, even if it was "a very small portion of the main game". And Phenoms run most other games, newer ones too, just fine.
-
I know that, I had the Phenom 965 BE myself, great thing. But it is old nonetheless. The fact that you can play most of the newer games is pretty much only luck. I don't see the problem, the FX CPUs aren't even expensive... Apple releases SHIT every year and charges thousands of dollars für each device and people just buy it. But upgrading a -blam!-ing century-old CPU? Nah-ah, I'm not stupid... sigh

Edited by Rooster61: 10/25/2017 2:44:14 PMNo, it isn't luck. Developers make a conscious decision about what instructions their game handles, and thus make a decision about which processors are supported. I'd bet every last cent I've got there was an internal discussion about performance/optimization benefits from using SSSE3 vs user-base that would be left in the dark due to incompatible architecture. Bungie obviously decided to break away from other contemporary games and gamble on performance. How do I know this? I'm a developer for a large company. And these discussions HAVE to happen, it's a vital part of the software engineering process. Considering the number of people complaining, I'd say ole Bungle misjudged this one. Another thing to keep in mind is that many AMD users, including myself, are stuck in a no man's land between our current processor, and the price of the new Ryzen chips. No one wants to buy an FX chip for their current motherboard because they have proven to be inferior chips for gaming. I don't have the cash to build a whole new machine just to accommodate the new chip line. At least not right now. Also, the Phenom II is a decade old, not a century.
-
Yea, you proved you are able to recognize a sarcastic exaggeration. GJ. The Ryzen is out for how long now? Your point is senseless.
-
While I see where you're coming from, and I agree with you, chances are that most people who are still using Phenoms are also using older motherboards, which means they'd have to invest an additional 50-150€ to get a motherboard that works with a newer CPU. I think it's fair to assume that most people don't have that kind of money to throw out just to be able to play a single game, when everything else still works.
-
I totally understand that point, honestly. But hell, it is not like an upgrade just to play this one game. It improves your PC-Gaming experience in every aspect.
-
Dude i have a phenom x6 more powerful that the fx series so they doing shit and i don't understand why i should change my CPU because its too Old but still working for all other vidéo games i have...

Yea, well you know there were cars in the 80s that ran faster than some cars today? Guess what, it is pretty hard to maintain those nowadays and the age is showing in mutliple ways. What we are talking about is technology, not GHz and that is were the problem is.
