Destiny 2 is a Vex simulation.

I know I sound like I'm crazy, but just for a moment, put on your crazy cap and follow along. I'm going to make a list here of some of the possible evidence that supports this theory. The Vex have been known to run multiple simulations. In The grimoire cards for the Vex (assuming grimoire cards are still cannon) the Vex run simulations of lots of things. It’s even mentioned that the researchers who found the simulations believed themselves to be simulations. The Vex cannot simulate light. But they understand it is powerful. Throughout the Destiny 2 quests and adventures, we get notes that the Vex refer to the light and guardians as those “which cannot be simulated.” I know you’re probably thinking, “Why do you think this is a simulation if they can’t simulate light?” Three reasons: 1. The Vex know light is powerful. They could easily assume that the light could give power even to the extent that surviving guardians to push back the Cabal. Even if they calculated only a 1% chance the traveler and guardians could win against the Red Legion, they would still have it simulated. 2. We don’t call it “light level.” In Destiny 2, our level (the one that currently goes to 305), is only referred to as our “Power Level.” Something the Vex would call it to make light more estimable. And, 3.There aren’t any game modes where Power levels are compared to each other (no light level advantage multiplayer). The Vex don’t understand “light level.” They just know guardians get stronger and that their source is “light.” The limitations of the Vex. The Vex know a lot…but not everything. The Vex can only simulate what they know about. Here are a few holes that may be evidence: 1. The Vex probably didn’t know about Efrideet. She’s never mentioned. 2. The Vex didn’t know you became and Iron lord. That’s why you’re never referred to as such. 3. The Vex Didn’t know about all the exotic armor and weapons the guardians might have. They simulated that the Cabal would destroy most of what we have to simulate a worst-case scenario for the guardians. But they couldn’t simulate what remain after the Red Legion attacked Hints in the Story/Content Throughout the game there are moments that seem mystical or confusing about what’s happening. In this theory, these are the points that “break the simulation.” This is probably the most far-fetched section in the theory, but it may hold some weight in the long-run. Anyway, here it goes: 1. The simulation starts when our guardian “returns” to the tower. This is actually when we entered the simulation. There’s no telling where we were or what we were doing just that we were away when the tower was attacked. 2. The first thing the vanguard notes is that the satellites were all down. This is unlikely. Rasputin would have sent a message somehow beforehand…but the Vex didn’t include Rasputin in the simulation because… 3. Rasputin is messing with the Vex network. In the adventure, “Arecibo” Rasputin has left signals that allow him to manipulate the Vex. Here, he breaks the simulation for just a few seconds- when our ghost spazzes out- and sends us an encrypted message. Rasputin knows we are in a simulation and is letting us know (through music cues) that he is powerful, he can help us, and that he needs time. 4. We break the simulation when we visit the dark forest and enter the portal to the Shard of the Traveler. When the Traveler chose us to regain our powers, we couldn’t be accurately simulated, so the Vex assume we go through a portal, and then comeback out with more power. It is only in the areas around the Shard that we get references to lore not mentioned in the simulation (such as Efrideet, Toland, etc). 5. Osiris. Osiris is a known Warlock who has studied the Vex and who is believed to also be tampering in the Vex Network. He’s mentioned in the adventure “Deep Conversation” as sending his regards. As I put all this together, I wasn’t thinking about the fact that the two main sources I mention as “outside the simulation” are Osiris and Rasputin. Osiris (or rather, Curse of Osiris) is the first DLC coming to Destiny 2. Rasputin (or what I assume is Rasputin) is the second DLC coming to Destiny 2. Coincidence? If my theory stands correct, I think not.
