When D2 was announced.....
I thought this is it, Bungie have had time to work out the kinks. Time to build on what they learned, and finally we may see a return to bungie of old. A return to the bungie that brought us 'action sack', 'big team battle', and a true ranked ladder matchmaking system. Vehicles that centred around teamplay, warthogs and mongooses, banshees and scorpion tanks. A plethora of game types, capture the flag, VIP, bomb the base, neutral bomb. And almost every possible combination of team games, 8v8, 6v6, 4v4, doubles and even multi-team. The bungie that brought fun, quality, community made content and playlists. Bungie favourites thanks to theatre mode and forge.
Even better, this time we would have even more abilities and even builds to utilise in this new space magic sandbox.
Well...... disappointed is an understatement. Having been a fan of bungie for over a decade it's sad to say that this recent instalment is the furthest thing I could have expected from the company that built its name on what is probably still the highest quality FPS shooter ever to grace our gaming systems. Halo 3 was the peak, and the steady decline into the irrelevant in terms of online shooters is where we are now. If this is what becoming independent from Microsoft was about, well, perhaps the companies coffers are better for it, because the gamers certainly are not.
This company is bungie in name only.

Good point. Where is Forge? Theatre? Features available on XBOX 360? Even medal lookup? KD tracker? Features we had literally 2 months ago?

11 RepliesTotally agree. if this was Bungie's first foray into MM, FPS, PvP - whatever you want to call it - it might be excusable. But coming from the makers of the ground-breaking Halo multiplayer D2 PvP is a major disappointment

2 RepliesWhen Destiny was first being shown off we were promised a Large Shared World Shooter RPG. That was "Ancient Fantasy" + "Hard Science Fiction". That is what it was initially advertised as and what Year 3 D1 was shaping up to be. The problem is that Destiny 2 has taken the franchise into becoming a game that I simply did not want. We got a standard FPS Skill based shooter with PvP set as end-game. It is trying to use the Halo formula to satisfy the competitive shooters. That design choice does not work with [i]Loot[/i] based games. You're fighting against human players in the Crucible and you're fighting an army of drones in PvE. What makes PvE fun is being a powerful badass what makes the Crucible fun is the competition and proving your better against a real person with access to the same weapons abilities. They're not the same and should not be balanced as such. It is trying to be a jack of all trades but consequently making it a master of none. Making it a competitive PvP is the [u]opposite[/u] of what Destiny was supposed to be and shaping up to be by Year 3. This feels like a slap in the face to the people who stuck around and supported Destiny. Bungie should stop trying to make it Halo when that is a completely different formula. They took what could have been an amazing RPG and made it a simple shooter. Big middle finger to the fans who made the first game successful. [b]ALSO.[/b] Destiny is made by AAA developers, supported by AAA publishers, and is sold as a $60 game. They already have the money and support they need to make a complete product. The fact that it is not a complete game at launch, and is in reality an incomplete foundation that relies on content updates as well as paid DLCs to add things that should have been in the game in the first place, is unacceptable.

Yeah i remember reading about how their story will be bigger then ever, there will be an insane variety of gear and tons of exotics. I haven’t seen any of that yet.

That Bungie still exists, well half of it, it's called 343. On a side note, Bungie leaves Microsoft for creative freedom, then signs with Activision. Their company motto should read: "If it ain't broke, don't worry we'll break it"

Should've done some research before placing some high expectations. Btw if you want to put high expectations in the right place, take a look at the Bioware team that's creating Anthem

The moment they said they were taking away all our Destiny 1 gear, and announced that Luke Smith was going to direct the game, I knew this wasn't going to go well. I decided not to buy Destiny 2 when they made those two announcements. There was no possible way that it was going to be good. But, my friends convinced me to buy it anyway. Now, I have only one friend who still plays it, and we are never on at the same time. I do my single player milestones every week, log off, and play something else. I expected this game to be trash. My expectations were so low that a Lego game could have met them. This game somehow managed to be worse than my lowest expectation. That is truly amazing. Bungie has lost a fan. I'll be back for the DLC (Because my friends convinced me to preorder that too). But until then, I'll just be doing my two hours a week for milestones and play something else (this is in sharp contrast to the 4 to 6 hours a day that I played Destiny 1 for 3 years.)

I like my food for the same reason I like this forum. Salty as hell. D2 is trash. Reading the forums is more fun than the game. Best part is reading about the ones that got banned for cheating to get gear that looks different. I encourage you all to read them as well.

Well said. All Bungie is good for now is giving vague excuses for incompetence and laziness. Destiny 2 has made me feel like I have been played, not the other way around.

None of this was ever stated as anything that was going to happen other then 4v4 pvp.
