Discuss all things Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 was created to appeal to the casual crowd, yes or no?

It's definitely more causal now.

It's good enough for the hardcore audience

Why are we going over the obvious **** again?

Until I beat the raid and went flawless for the first time, I thought this game had many more hours of content to burn through, but with the removal of flawless armor, adept weapons, and flawless ornaments, there's really no need to put much effort into it after the first time. I mean, you've seen the armor and played the playlist, so unless you *really* like the game mode there's not much in it for you. All of the benefits of putting in those sleepless nights just to go flawless have gone right through the window, as you can really just get to 7 wins and 2 losses and call it a week because of the fact that you get the same rewards regardless. "But you can choose between three different 305 level gear!" supporters may cry, but if you're part of the hardcore audience, you're already way past the point of either needing to get to LL 305, or you've already received the trials gear anyway. Can we take a second to talk about the raid rewards? What are the rewards again anyway, the not cabal styled guardian weapons that give stats that really have no impact on the raid? I mean people love Legend of Acuris but if I see anybody try and use that damn thing to destroy bath salts, shoot arrows, or even better try to kill Calus during damage phase from the platform I'd go to bed for the night. It's like trying to kill the warpriest with "The Next Big Thing." What prompted me to bitch about any of this is the fact that the Prestige Leviathan raid doesn't even increase the light level at all, and I haven't seen the prestige raid weapon drops but I'm gonna take a stab and say they don't help during the raid either. What does this have to do with destiny appealing to the casual audience? Well, reducing the difficulty and rewards of endgame content usually means that the developer is dumbing the game down so more people can get into the activity, and not get discouraged when they can't get certain rewards because they're not "good enough" or whatever. Main examples: No flawless gear and no increase of light level for hard mode raids. From what I've seen the only activity they haven't pulled rewards from is the hard mode raid, to a limited extent. Supposedly the weapons are glowing or shiny or something now, and if you ask me, I don't really give a damn if the raid weapons glow now because they're useless to me inherently anyway, and if you want me to give a damn about the fashion wars, give me some gear that looks cool and not this buggy ass warlock gear that turns into a Beyblade the moment you want to move in a different direction. I know we've all seen it at this point, the moments when the warlock robes develop a mind of their own and decide they want to eat the goddamned universe. Am I mad? not really, either bungo is going to release content in the expansion that will sate the ravenous hunger that make up us hardcore players, or they're going to introduce another faction that is basically another gacha game, complete with tokens and everything. I'm not going to proof read this because it's too damn long, correct me in the comments if you give a shit. TL;DR read the title. Edit: The link I added sums up a lot of other issues I have with D2, but have nothing to do with the topic. #2: I think I have pretty substantial numbers to go off of here, I just wanted to confirm that I wasn't being overly dramatic with regards to what I thought the changes were in D2, thanks for the input guys.

  • They tried to make it for casuals but failed completely and made it a no mans sky with an actual story....... Ugh I can’t believe I just said that you know what this game deserves a better insult than being compared to no mans sky. It’s TOO casual....... For anyone who think I think d2 is worst than no mans sky I meant d2 is better than no mans sky and it deserves a better insult seriously though no mans sky was terrible at launch at least d2 had a coherent story.

    • The game play its self is solid but this stupid token system, lack of weapons, lack of weapon rolls, boring exotics with underwhelming abilities and desparate need to balance for pvp is mental - who signed this off. I would have waited longer for release if it ment having more strikes and fun missions. Look at the outbreak prime, thay was designed late into d1 when d2 was being created. That weapon was perfect and unique. Why couldnt that be in the game rather then the fighting lion. Why is there no movement/ornament on armour? I dont think casual players caused that problem. I think shortsight is the problem, i think activision is the problem and i think pvp balance (for potential esports) is the problem. I mean when was the last time you saw someone using a sniper and dont get me started on duplicate drops. It beggers believe.

    • In the end it's us the hardcore player base that will carry D2 for the next 3 years like in D1, screw making games casual

      • That may have been the aim but how many casuals have completed the raid? How many casuals regularly play trials? So if targetting casuals means getting people through the story mode once, maybe do a couple of nightfalls and play a few hours of pvp before putting destiny 2 behind them forever and not buying any of the 4/5 dlc to be released over the next couple of years then I guess they succeeded in targetting casuals.

The clan bullshit proves it was. You can get loot from every area of the game without playing it.

This game was over when Xur decided to hand out hand out gjallarhorn to all the unlucky scrubs who never earned it.

          • They went a little too casual this time. It's odd that they want the game to be casual but they can't get casuals to play the raids.

              • It's always been targeted for the casual audience. Why the hell would Activision market a game for a smaller group of hardcore gamers to make less money? They target casual gamers, the majority of gamers might I add. They want to make the most money they can, forget your happiness and satisfaction!

                    • I don't think its that. I think they dumbed it down again like they did part 1 in the beginning. They know us morons will still buy it. Its all about money. They can add in all of that later and charge for money.

                        • It's very strange, because on the one hand there are so many avenues for players to hit max power level, and "clan engrams" so people get raid/Trials gear just for logging on. But at the same time, stuff like Prestige Nightfalls are 100% casual-repellent. Lol

                          • so much wrong with this post.... of course the raid gear didn't raise your light level. you are at max for this part of the game, not difficult to grasp. if the game was truly dumbed down for casuals as you state why is it that "casuals" can't complete it? it requires teamwork and coordination, that is what they set out for. the "glowy" raid gear sets you apart from others to show on a glance that you've completed something others could not. so you got a trials package and don't want to play more because of that, fine, that's your choice. it seems most of your anger is misplaced, misinformed, and a bit self entitled. but here's the kicker, if you don't like it, don't play it, if you do like it play it. that solves all of the issues.......

                            • It would've have been better if they kept the Destiny 1 feel and added more Classes, subclasses, races, Raids, gamemodes for PVE and PVP, etc. It just feels like there's not anything fun to do.

                              • I'll give a proper TL;DR to your post: >>> You're upset that other people besides you are able to earn trials weapons and gear. >>> You're upset that Bungie has not released OP, raid breaking weapons that wreck the game in the first month of D2's potential three year life span, making the game more challenging (after complaining the game is less challenging - wuh?) >>> You think you're "good enough" to deserve the rewards, but others are not Perhaps you should play and enjoy the game based on your own experience with the content, and not be so concerned with what others, who may or may not be as "good" as you, are getting/not getting.

Bungie brought the game in a new direction and they knew they'd make Activision $$$$ off the fanbase alone and if the new direction didn't work out they could also fix it with DLC and make more money
