Now, I know Exos and awoken aren't technically human but the exo use a human mind and the awoken were originally humans. So, all guardians are in effect, human. My question is why? Why aren't there any guardians of alien races like the fallen? The Eliksney used to have the travelers light themselves, so, why would the traveler choose only humans? Variks once said "Not all that are Fallen are lost." so it's possible for there to be good fallen. Why not have them be guardians?
Edit: What I really mean is, is it possible for other races than human to become guardians while the Traveler is allied with us?
-
Because the traveler ran from all other races the ghosts didn't come until after it stopped on earth.
-
Cause ghosts wernt created until the traveler went to sleep on earth It just ran away from other species
-
It’s because most fallen are kind of misunderstood, heck most people don’t even know the lore about their home planet being destroyed. They are literally just trying to find refuge and trying to defend themselves. (Presumably)
-
Hopefully in Destiny 3, my dreams of being a Shank guardian will finally come true.
-
In regards to the lore - the traveler stop and many civilizations before earth, while it fled from the darkness / hive - it made each of these races better, but abandoned them every time they were defeated- some of these races are still out there like the fallen When the traveler came to earth it made our civilization greater too - but there were no guardians. It wasn't until the darkness came and the traveler tried to run that everything changed - the warmind Rasputin attacked/ damaged the traveler grounding it here on earth and most of humanity was wiped out. Later (centuries) after the battle was lost is when the first ghost came from the "dead" traveler and started to raise guardians from the dead humans, awoken, and exos

Ghosts never existed pre-Earth Collapse. No ghosts = no light given out to the dead = no space zombies
-
The traveler is a bigot, that's why.

Yes. We Awoken were originally human. No longer. We are capable of so much more.

Edited by Quiet_Bushi: 10/17/2017 2:22:58 PMYou're right: Exos were once Human (like Cayde-6) and Awokens too.
Why aren't there any guardians of alien races like the fallen?
Because, also if the Traveler met other races before us and to some of them granted his powers in order to create para-causal weapons, we were... I don't wanna say "the chosed race", but we are actually what the Traveler hoped to find... and he found us, in the end. You can understand this by reading the Dreams of Alpha Lupi (https://www.destinypedia.com/Dreams_of_Alpha_Lupi). Basically, we are the only race (for what we know until now) that the Traveler blessed directly with the Light. Other races were blessed in other ways, with technology, para-causal weapons that used the Light, but it seems that we are the first and only race that can use the Light as a Weapons, that has the Light inside.

My Guardians are exclusively Awoken, so that kills your premise right there.

Edited by uhhh so: 10/17/2017 2:41:17 AMIf you look around the EDZ you can find scannables that are Fallen caches that have the House of Judgement banner on it. This I believe is Variks befriending the House of Dusk, for what reason I don't know.

The Traveler chose humanity, and mysteriously chose to stay and fight instead of fleeing.
-
Who’s to say there weren’t fallen Guardians? But if there were they lost the light when the Traveler left. And now the traveler provides humanity with the light.
-
The Traveler left the Fallen long ago. When the light leaves, those it touched dont stay Guardians afterwords. Due to Guardians being resurrected from the dead, any Fallen "Guardians" likely insta-died when the Traveler left.
-
I imagine yes, bc we fight to save the traveler as it has saved us before. If we ever allied with any other species I could see the traveler making them guardians as well
-
The traveller sees fallen as dangerous. When it came to Earth we celebrated and it saw us as kind beings that needed protection.
-
Don’t forget how a lot of other races hate us (specifically hive and taken) and have traversed the universe trying to make sure guardians are extinct, regardless of race. Remember how oryx casually mentions in BoS how he and his sisters and spawn have committed genocide on hundreds of races before they had even heard of us. So basically, it’s my expectation that most, if not all of them, have been exterminated. I also want to include how the eliksni lost the powers of the light when the traveler left them, so even if one alien guardian does actually exist, it will have long lost the gifts of the light.

Edited by A Rising Wind: 10/16/2017 5:44:14 PMGhosts never existed until the collapse. Though the traveler visited many species before humans and granted them golden ages, the unique event was the traveler staying versus fleeing (regardless of the debate why) when the <insert new term for darkness whenever bungie figures out a new term for darkness> came. There is something unique to that event, the creation of ghosts and those tied to/exposed to the travelers light that appears to be a pre requisite to being a guardian, at least so far as we know so far. Our ghost says there had never been a guardian before then.
