Which Game Is Better?
You should have fully experienced D1 to vote.. And don't tell us we need to give 2 time because they had 3+ years of D1 feedback and game-play when releasing D2...
Edit: we're not comparing depth of content.. evaluating the enjoyment of the content compared.. Strikes, NFs, Raid, PVP/Iron Banner event, Factions, loot system, game-play enjoyment - which did you think is better?

2 RepliesThis is a bit silly. I've been through the same experience when Diablo 3 was released. For years the Blizzard forums were on fire with threads like this and players just outright swearing at each other for their opinions of how Diablo 2 was better or how Diablo 3 needed more time. Tha same arguments here were brought up too. "Diablo 3 had over 10 years of development - so on and so forth" In the end Diablo 3 [i]did[/i] get better with time. Having been though that experience all I can say is you will never really answer this question until you give Destiny 2 as much time as Destiny 1. Sure they are both the same game in a lot of ways but you have to remember that Bungie chose to go on a [b]different direction with Destiny 2[/b]. If you're unhappy with Destiny 2 now, it's not because Bungie have not done a good job, it's most likely because you don't agree with the direction Bungie chose this time round.

Destiny: Age of Triumph, Story rich(wish most back story on cards outside of the game) great loot to find, raids felt fun (though it took me time to gather a group to do them) and rewarding at the end. Felt powerful and well legendary. Destiny 2: Story is flimsy rushed and empty. (Not to mention its either retconed or left out huge pieces of lore or character progression from previous adventures In Destiny 1) Loot is boring reskin locked perks that dont ever feel special. Shaders are ugly and most that are micro-transaction items. Speaking of micro-transactions, you get sparrows and ships from them not the shipwright she only has a static stock that you can wait wait put a shader on them. Exotics feel not more special then rare gear. The raid just looks like a extra long strike. I dont feel powerful even after the story as a player any class feels really boring? it really does not matter what class you use most of the time your just using your two Primary weapons to bullet sponge things. No more got to save my team mate in a raid or nightfall pop the super swoop in and save the day. Its more 'meh lets just wipe and restart the encounter.' When I really sat and thought about Destiny 2 and why I have really disliked it and felt so stale and old. Its nothing but a Call of Duty : with space magic. PvP is the endgame and its core system. I used to be a hardcore edge of the seat PvP player specially CoD. But I am just so burned out on that game play focus why I play mostly mmorpgs and such. Destiny 2 just feels like its heading to the esports crowed then a deep story world that players influence. Though I have to admit some of the later Call of duty games actually had end of story changes like a team mate dies or wounded by flames to the face and the rest of the game reflects those choices or actions. Destiny 2 just feels like a shell with no story to make me want to know more or dive deeper into a lost sector to find some unique gear or weapon from the golden age or a dropped weapon of a Fallen hive infected item or what ever its all generic blandness to be a easy balance so PvP can be easy for the sandbox team to control.

18 RepliesYou are comparing a finished product (D1) to a game that hasn't been out for 2 months (I know still has to be said). If all your token rewards would become blue items would that make you happy? Or everyone shooting into a cave while on patrol instead of doing PE's. I'm day one D1 you need to wait before that comparison.

I really miss those higher rate auto rifles from Destiny 1. Right now we have 720 being the highest archetype. But im sure another archetype of 800 rpm would be a nicer addition as a basic assault rifle. Sure we have Coldheart and Sweet Business, buts those guns arent fun to play with.

Months into D1 i was still exploring, walking through the tunnels on mars looking for secrets, the Ishtar academy, the cosmodrome. Every DLC it was time to seek out the secrets again, dead ghost, fragments on the dreadnaught. The game world was fascinating. D 2 looks nice but i have yet to truly have a desire to explore it. Building your character the way YOU wanted, perks to match certain weapons and armor, stating for fast melee charge on one class maxing grenade or super recharge on another. I miss those moments on patrol when you took complete control over an area shortly after arriving, because you were a badass guardian. The strikes were better, the raids were better. Pvp is easier now but not as much fun.

If Destiny 1 didn’t exist, I’d have given this game about a 6/10. But due to the fact that D1 did exist, and they SHOULD have learned more over the last three years, I’d give it about a 3.5/10

People seem to forget that. I'd take D2 over D1 vanilla. You can't say all the updates and DLC count for D1 against D2 vanilla.

D1 bit broken and imbalance but fun, from HoW to TTK to RoI, we all starting to see it improving step by step.

As it stands right now, Destiny, however, I will say that Destiny 2 as of this moment has a higher cap to grow to than D1 did. D2 could out shine D1 in time, but at this moment, it is not.

There's a lot of things I like about D2, and a lot of things I miss about D1. I just wish Bungie had learned more from its mistakes and from feedback in D1 so a lot of those great things could have come into D2. As a Guardian, I feel very watered down like I'm still looking for my ghost. I feel there should be a whole lot more content and ways to level up, and feel like I should be accomplishing more for the constant hours of grinding. For a guy who doesn't raid that often (and haven't at all yet in D2) I feel that strikes are extremely limited with low pay out, and the crucible has become a team shot contest with even less payout.
