27 packages with my warlock.
Still no full set of armor.
I have not played IB, with either my Titan or Hunter. In D1 IB I would have been level 5 with all three by now. This IB has not been fun and I loved playing IB in D1.

And in Destiny 1, only 2 weapons and 2 pieces of armor would have been available to your characters. Making it technically impossible to "complete" your set within the first Iron Banner. The expectations of players this week, have been without precedent.

Well no. In Destiny 1, that was the rules of the IB. As a player, you knew from the get go, what you were playing for, it was laid out in front of you. Reach a level, get what you are promised for hitting that level. D2, IB, you have no idea what you will get. Because it's totally random it could be anything. It's a gamble. And like gambling you can sit there for hours playing and getting nothing worthwhile. Your post is without precedent.

Generally speaking you are likely to end up with more pieces of Iron Banner gear in a week in Destiny 2 than a week in Destiny 1. You were the one expecting to get a full set of armor. At which times you will probably have received all the weapons. This event is supposed to offer content by incentivizing players for it's entire season. Expecting to get everything you want within the first week is not just without precedent. It is illogical.

Edited by Dredd_fan: 10/17/2017 1:38:40 PMIt is called gambling! To say you ARE LIKELY, to end up with more pieces is BS. Read the forum's here and on Reddit. I'm reading accounts where players have cashed up 30+ engrams and are missing 2 or 3 pieces of armor. Do you know how long it takes to earn 30 packages? An entire season? Have you played Destiny prior to this game? Every time Bungie introduce a new DLC, they change shit. It is not unusual for current weapons and armor to be rendered useless. Because Bungie have put new gear into the game that require higher levels. Your current gear cannot be levelled up because Bungie will not allow it. They force you, to NEED the new gear. Because it helps their commercial interest. Players have to buy the DLC, in order to progress. Which of course means, you start grinding all over again. So what tells you? A player has an entire season, as you call it, to get this gear?
Destiny, as most games designed to be loot grinders is designed with a decent amount of RNG-based drops. That is part of the experience. If you don't like it, then perhaps you are playing the wrong game.
An entire season? Have you played Destiny prior to this game? Every time Bungie introduce a new DLC, they change shit. Especially because it would have been impossible in Destiny 1. We have already been over this. RNG can be cruel, but it is part of the experience. Without it the game would have been dead on arrival. So what tells you? A player has an entire season, as you call it, to get this gear?
This is how it works in progression based games. To justify the new content they need to offer progression etc. etc. Some things will always become obsolete. Sometimes making content obsolete might seem unfair or dumb, but it is the model the game is built around. Perhaps Bungie will do a better job of keeping content relevant this time around. They did do a pretty good job of that during Rise of Iron and Age of Triumph. Unfortunately their reliance on making old content viable also made the expansion itself less appealing as it did not really offer enough incentives to get the new gear. It is a much more complicated balancing act than what you make it out to be here. And yes. The Iron banner gear is designed to offer incentives for an entire season. How is that so hard to understand? If everyone got everything within the first week, no one would play Iron Banner the subsequent times it was the running event. Which we know will be every month. Why? because Iron Banner would no longer offer any tangible reward. It would offer no variation in gameplay and it would reward you as a player nothing new. In effect, giving you no incentive to participate.

Having poured nearly 3000 hours into D1. I know it is a loot grinder. But thanks for the heads up (sarcasm).

Then stop making the grind out to be of minuscule value.

Update. Finally got my full set of armor. 30 packages. Damn what a mission. I feel for the players out there still grinding for that full set. It sucks!

29 packages later and I only got legs and arms for my hunter
