DESTINY 2 RANT!!

The Destiny franchise has been amazing over the past 4 years. I logged 90+ days on D1 and already have multiple days on D2. I would consider myself to be a big PvP player but I do everything the game has to offer. However, despite my love for the game, there are some major issues with D2 currently that I'm going to address in this rant. Leveling System: In my personal opinion, destiny was in its prime immediately following the release of "House of Wolves" in year 1. Why do I think this? Two words. Endgame content. Every Tuesday, I would log on and complete vault of glass, Croats End (Normal and Hard), the nightfall, and prison of elders on all 3 of my characters. Then on Friday I would play Trials until I went flawless. Why did I invest this much time into the game every week? Because light level mattered. At that time the max light level was 34. The difference between 33 and 34 was so blatantly obvious when it came to taking down enemies in both pvp and pve. This created a sense of urgency for me to get all of my characters to max level because if they weren't, I couldn't participate in endgame activities. This desire to hit max light level is what kept me and the whole destiny community attached to this game. So what's the problem? Light level is practically irrelevant in D2. In fact, it's so unimportant that some players do not even know what the max light level is (305 btw). The reason why it's so irreverent is because nothing in the game requires you to be max light level. The raid suggests that you are 270 while the prestige nightfall, the most difficult activity in the game, only suggests 300. If I only need to be 300 to complete the most challenging activity then why should I bother hitting 305? Bungie needs to create an endgame incentive for dedicated players such as myself. In d1 the incentive was reaching max light level. I would be fine if D2 had a similar incentive but it doesn't have any incentive at all. There is no specific goal to achieve for endgame players. Without a specific goal to go after it's very boring to grind out the game which is what I want to do.
